      The DFW Fry's were 'meh.' Low paid and not enough of them, which goes to the top. Makes sense Fry's apparently grifted on their loans, too.
      Microcenter it is...

    Frys Electronic was my tech wonderland. No other store especially back in the 90s when I went to them gave such excitement. It's such a shame it was only in 9 states, its a shame more didn't get to experience those crazy awesome themes, it's a shame it's all gone now. Lost but never forgotten.

      We need the business back! But to do that, we need to sacrifice the name for a new one! I want the new name to still have the word “electronics” in it though.

    Don't believe the lies.
    Fry's did this to themselves.

      I always had a better experience at micro center than at Fry's. Bought my first pc parts there last year. The only thing Micro Center lacks is less locations and the fact that their locations are so tiny to walk through, especially during peak hours (which is pretty much every day)

    • @austinleong3319
      @austinleong3319 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      ☝This. Microcenter should really consider opening new stores at some of the closed Fry's locations (srsly, only 1 store in CA?), ideally keeping the theme decorations.

      They sure did by not buying inventory and relying solely on consignment to get their inventory. In a retail business, you need merchandise to survival, and if you can't make profit.

    As a former Palo Alto employee from 2002-2005 this is bittersweet. Also as a customer I liked going inside to browse and shop. The cafe they had inside served some good sandwiches and chips. Good times. RIP. 😔. There will be those that will say good rittens since their return area was pretty busy and not all items could be returned or given store credit which pissed off some customers. Believe me I've been there but I will still miss you Fry's.

      RIP Frys. I used to LOVE going there back in those years, like 02--05. I didn't live really close to the stores but I would go whenever I could, and I could have spent all DAY for sure. When I went back in 2018 or 2019 to one I was pretty shocked at how it was half empty, what wasn't empty was half just aisles of random sh*t that had nothing to do with electronics. They had like 3 motherboards in stock.

    • @GTA2SWcity
      @GTA2SWcity 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      RS is little more than an arm of Amazon at this point.
      Fry's was a titan
      Circuit City was also really good, I went to the Reno NV location pretty much until it died.
      Now all we have is online. Mouser, Digi-Key, Electronic Goldmine, jameco, Surplus Electronics, surplus sales of Nebraska, suburban Electronics, allied Electronics, and of course eBay.
      No more of that brick and mortar store experience.
      What few RS chains exist on behalf of Amazon aren't nearly what they were and are few and far between in major cities. Sad too because my local store was the highest grossing one in the western region.
