High Sierra screwed my computer and could not find regular Sierra in App store search. The link you provided in the show more area here literally saved me so I could revert back. THANK YOU MAN!!!!!!!!
I hardly ever comment on anything online, BUT I love the way you explain everything with as many details as someone dumb like me needs not to make anything wrong. In addition to that, you're also funny, which makes watching a 17-minute video enjoyable. Last thing: it's very important when you say that something is going to take a long time, so one won't get too anxious with the thought that he/she must've broken the computer during the process just because it's taking forever for something to get done. Keep up the good work!
This is the best tutorial for clean install Sierra I have come across. Being a "don't know computers" person it's wonderful that you took the time to show every step. Am now in the process of downloading Sierra and boy is it taking a long time. Once done, I will return to follow through.
I had to download Sierra from another Mac onto the USB, because I was locked out of my itunes account. Then copy the Sierra File from the USB into the Applications folder on the Mac I wanted to do the clean install on. You must put the file in the correct location for the Terminal command to locate the file. If you just leave the Sierra file on the USB without copying it to the Applications folder, Terminal will tell you it does not recognize the command. Just trying to save you guys some time, I learned the long, stressed right out, pissed right off way. Thanks for the video. Appreciate the time you spent on this tutorial.
Glad to see you still provide such great vids on Mac OS installation. Began with my first Apple computer (Mac) ever nearly two years ago. Have used your instruction vid to clean install, Yosemite, and El Capitan, easily and reliably. No, on to Sierra! Many thanks. Keep up the reliable work!
Refrence time stamp in this video: 11:20 NOTE: If you run get an error directly after trying to delete your drive and it doesn't format. Simply go back and repeat the action to delete and type in the name as suggested "Macintosh HD" and it should work the second time. It did for me. Possibly the drive was dismounted in the delete process and reconnected the second time I did the action it formatted as intended. Thanks for the step by step vid bro, and your recording of your laptop in the second half of this video was sharp and clear like you used an iPhone to record that part, it was much better quality than expected! You saved me a trip to the Mac Store genius bar!
I really like your way to talk, it's easy to listen to your voice. Reinstalling and repairing a pc is a common thing for me, but now I have to fix a MacPro, so I'm happy about your video. The steps seems pretty similar to clean install win10, there are only some differences.
I have saw couple of video but this video is more clear and each step is mention which helps me to complete my Clean mac os . Thanks a lot Everything Tech
You are a life saver! Thank you so much! I'm doing a reset of my computer, like new hard drive, more ram, etc. I was kinda nervous because I've never done this on my mac, or any mac for that matter, so thank you so much! I loved this video so much, I subscribed ;) Keep up the good work!
Thank you! this tutorial is easier than all the other turorials ive ever seen including the Disk Maker X methods. I will definately be referring back to this video when my eBay bought MacBook comes in the mail.
Hi Alejandro, I was downloading sierra and accidentally pulled the power cord and it shut down in the middle of the dowload. My Mac wouldn't even start after that. I, with the help of apple managed to install ios maverick on a usb. My Mac finally runs using the usb, just turning it on made me happy. I want to do everything you say in your instructions but I am so scared to ruin my Mac Air. I can pay you for your help if you can please help me get the hard drive to work again. I am in Mexico, can you help me please? Or do I just follow your instructions and will it work?
If for whatever reason the OS fails to install properly or you find it is slow on your computer and you don't have any recovery discs or USB drives with older versions of OS X you can use Internet recovery to restore your mac. Keep in mind that if you choose this option to restore you will restore your computer back to the OS it came with so if your MacBook came with Mavericks like mine, internet recovery will re-install mavericks and you can upgrade from there. Just make sure you check to see if your computer supports Internet Recovery before you try it. Check Here: apple.co/2r8ffvO
Everything Tech, Hi, I’ve got an issue here. When I erase and reinstall the system all I get is OSX 10.9.5 I can not update it to anything above this and I have to as for example Microsoft Office or Final Cut or even bloody chrome says I need 10.10 or higher. I can’t choose Apple File System files neither when I erase everything form the disk. Can anyone help, please?
Dude bro! Thank you thank you ! I’ve look several videos how to do this and went crazy trying to do it.... wasted a whole Sunday trying to do this no results.... got to your videos and Boom! Done .... Bro life saver and clean as water how to do this appreciate you man!
Thank you for this. As a new MacBook Pro user, from Windows, I will keep this information for when needed. It is much more involved than a Windows clean install, but your detailed instruction looks clear. Subscribed.
Great video! Side note though, for those who would like an even easier way to create the bootable drive, have a look at DiskMaker X. It automatically creates the drive for you.
Everything was going well up until I was copying Sierra to the Flash drive. I keep getting 'command not found' after copying the Terminal line, and pasting into the window. The pwd is still asked for, but after that goes in, I get the error. Backups have been done, TimeMachine, so I am really looking to do a clean install of Sierra.
Guys, I really am doing a clean install of my Mac and have done the backup:)! Hopefully others will see this from the other strings, but once you get High Sierra onto your HD and done your backup, make the installer by going to macdaddy.io/install-disk-creator/ and take things from there (refer to this vid from Everything Tech to get the image going). Good luck.
Forgot to mention, when you copy Sierra to the Flash Drive, it takes a long time, so be patient. At the end, you will get a confirmation when all is done.
ts7music If it's a removable drive i would unplug it and just reconnect it once the process is done just to be safe but you will loose everything on the main hard drive but since you backed up everything there's nothing to worry about
Clear, precise and very reassuring, this is a first class instructional video. A very valuable guide for those contemplating a clean and reinstall of Sierra. 10/10
I followed your directions. The USB drive now has the Sierra install program, but my iMac does not recognize it as a bootable drive. Again I did every step you described.Help!
hi I am currently on Mac OS 10.12.6 everything is working fine except graphics.when the apple logo boots there is a black screen before the login window and text are fizzy and blurry my configuration is gigabyte z170x ultra gaming motherboard,i7 6700k processor, msi gtx 1050ti graphics please help :(
Hello sir now my macbook pro is running Mac os Sierra but I want to write boot flash for mac sierra by command that you told me but it can not write boot file to flash! please help me. before when my computer is running Capitan I can do that you told me but when I do it again on Mac OS sierra it is can not.
Immediately after install of second Sierra Beta install, no external USB devices are being recognised. Late 2012 MacBook Pro with two USB3.0 ports. Seems the devices are found in under System Report/Information through 'About this Mac' and are shown as receiving power output from the MacBook (also device power LEDs are lit, but do not show in Finder and are not accessible in anyway. Non-powered USB devices are also not being recognised. Have tried an SMC Reset and also a NVRAM reset as suggested in various forum threads but still nothing working. MacBook also has an SD Card port and this works fine when a card is inserted. Also tried basic system restarts and shut downs with and without devices plugged in. All help much appreciated as this bug makes it difficult to do quite a lot of things...
I have a mini Mac 2011 and didn't work to start from the USB until I pressed when power on the PC with Alt(Option) + Comand +R to start in the Sierra recovery and not in the Lion one

Would it matter if my USB has an orange icon instead of white, like the one in the video? Heard white indicates "fixed" disk and orange indicates "removable" disk. Would it matter?
When I am going to type Macintosh HD I cannot use any small letter. For this problem I suddenly cannot login to my laptop and I tried to reset my password but it doesn't work. So I go to disk utility and erase all the disk. Then when I open,it shows blank. Next I hold the power button and off it then agen on it and press the command+R button. I tried to install it and does started but no downloading progress happen. And after 8-10 hours letter it shows download failed. Do you have any suggestion please?
When I type in my password in the command prompt, it says that the sudo /Applications/Install\ macOS\ Sierra.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia --volume /Volumes/Untitled --applicationpath /Applications/Install\ macOS\ Sierra.app command was not found
after executing command in terminal , when i type y and press return , process starts and runs upto 10 percent and shows me the following error : Error erasing disk error number (-69888, 0) A error occurred erasing the disk.
How can you download the installer if you already have Sierra installed on the mac you are using to create the USB? Will not let me download from the app store and does not show up in applications either?

It takes my computers about an hour or so. Its Ok if you leave them alone and go out because when you get back your computer will be in the setup screen where you make an account and stuff
Hi I have Macbook Air (Late 2010) model having Lion operating system. I have created the bootable USB drive but when I click restart and press option button it only shows me two options (1) Macintosh HD and (2) Recovery HD. It is not showing me my USB bootable drive. Can you help me out??
I honestly think you have a bad USB drive. The same thing has happened to me several times with the same thumb drives. If they're not bad, I hope someone can tell us how to fix them.
Actually I found the solution myself after doing several trials. As Lion is a really old operating system so for some reason it doesn't recognize bootable USB drive of OS Sierra. I had to first upgrade my laptop to Sierra and after it was updated I then restarted the laptop and pressed Option button and Wallah!! I was able to see my USB drive. I then followed rest of the information as per video and clean formatted my laptop to Sierra. It was indeed a very lengthy and time consuming process but it worked well. It has been a month now and the main problem I am facing is slowing down of processing speed. When I have apps like Safari, Mail, Word document opened at the same time and I am tying stuff I can see the lag in typing. It is annoying!!! I personally don't suggest people with laptop's similar to mine to upgrade to Sierra. I am not a techie guy with loads of apps opened up and programming to do. My main apps are usually word, excel, mail, and safari. It is annoying when you are typing an email and you can see the lag on the screen.
thanks for the video but you blurred your Apple ID when you wanted to sign in at the first time that OS was installed but in 15:06 of the video your apple is visible under the video :))))
I get prohibited sign and its driving me nuts. I have mid 2012 mac book pro. I tried both sierra and high sierra. I have tried to download them again and create a bootable again. Any help will be appreciated

when I pasted the terminal command, it stucked at the copying installer files to disk. Am I missing something ? Ready to start. To continue we need to erase the disk at /Volumes/Untitled. If you wish to continue type (Y) then press return: y Erasing Disk: 0%... 10%... 20%... 30%...100%... Copying installer files to disk...

I am not clear on what you meant by a "Clean Install", what is the difference? Great Video. I followed how to do it, but I had already upgraded through apple on the Settings>Upgrade. Got it figured out, no response necessary.
Thanks for the video, helped a lot once I understood.

Clear, precise and very reassuring, this is a first class instructional video. A very valuable guide for those contemplating a clean and reinstall of Sierra. 10/10

Hi how much space did it take
how long should i wait for the bootable drive in terminal?
i don't have "guide partition map"... why? ;((((
This is a great video. Very simple yet informative.
after executing command in terminal , when i type y and press return , process starts and runs upto 10 percent and shows me the following error : Error erasing disk error number (-69888, 0)
A error occurred erasing the disk.
How can you download the installer if you already have Sierra installed on the mac you are using to create the USB? Will not let me download from the app store and does not show up in applications either?

That's usually because the OS doesn't belong on the machine. Try booting into internet recovery by pressing Command+R on boot

Make sure that if you follow the guide, name your drive MyVolume. The terminal command has the path directory set to look for a drive called MyVolume

Thanks for any info
