If you want to know the 25 MUST-OWN #4kuhd Movies to have in your collection that are best in my collection, this is the video for you! Pop that tape in, I got you, let's go do this!
Yes!!! Finally someone showing the Thing the same amount of love that I have for it. Those explosions and fire at the end against the pitch black night show just how absolutely bombastic the HDR and colour is of this resto. Amazing transfer, not a single step through the whole film misplaced, it looks tremendous
Mortal Engines, Christine, Aliens, The mask of Zorro, 5th element, Star Wars Phantom menace, and of course The Lord of the Rings trilogy. Are my favorite 4K's so far.
Golf-n-Stuff was our hangout as kids in the 80's during the video game boom. One night in 1983 we couldn't open the door to the arcade and an employee turned us away saying they were filming a movie. You can imagine our surprise when we went to see Karate Kid a year later 😀
Hey dude, loved the video! A lot of great recommendations-I’m lucky to have most of these films already. I’ve been on the fence about Weird Science in 4K for a while now because I heard another TH-cam creator mention that the upgrade wasn’t a big enough difference from the standard HD release. But since it’s a lifelong favorite and you reassured me, I just went ahead and ordered it. I also grabbed a few Vinegar Syndrome VSUs yesterday: Southern Comfort (never seen it), Sidekicks, and D.A.R.Y.L. (never seen that one either). I’m sad I missed out on the VSU releases of Showgirls and Beastmaster, though. Looks like I’m gonna have to pay the piper for those! Anyway, keep up the awesome videos. Thanks mang! 🤛🏼
thanks man! yeah I had to really pay for those VSUs because I missed out...Showgirls and Beastmaster were crazy expensive... Southern Comfort is every bit a survival horror film and I liked it a lot...Weird Science is an all time favrorite for me and those colors ad everything just pop like never before...AND the sound was the best I had ever heard for it too
All of these are great, agree with all of the ones I’ve watched. I had a similar revelation about The Thing several months ago. I think it was watching it for the first time as an adult and the quality of the 4k. It all came together and can easily now see that it’s a masterpiece
I dont know what it is about The Thing that kept me from really seriously watching it and giving it a shot for the past 40+ years but it certainly landed with me now!!!
Agree wholeheartedly on Predator. The natural film grain structure is all there, yielding incredible detail, and the HDR contrast range is unbelievable, most notably in the night scenes.
Great list and video. I just ordered the Studio Canal version of The 5th Element a couple of days ago. Watched the Sony version on Bravia Core when I first got my OLED last year and it looked great but can’t wait for the SC copy to arrive. I also need to pick up Predator. One of my favorite movie scores of all time.
thank you! Yeah that 5th Element looks great and Predator is one of the most underrated 4ks in my opinion...If you want some other suggestions to hurt your wallet lol, I have a video releasing at 10:00am on the 10 Must-Own Digitally Shot 4ks! I am sure many people will have some thoughts on it 🤣
Hey man, I just wanted to drop in and say I’m a new subscriber and I absolutely love your content! It’s always great to find a new voice in the film community. Let alone one with experience like yours! I’m hoping to get back into making videos myself right now, I don’t have the right equipment for it. I did just get myself a whole new set up with the Samsung S90D QDOLED, the S990D sound bar system and the Panasonic UB840 4K blu-ray player! I’m hoping to get back into collecting real soon, and I did post a review of my new set up. There were a few on your list here that I didn’t even know we’re on 4K yet so thanks for that! Keep up the great work!
@JoshRazauskas hey thank you so much!! I am glad you are enjoying the channel and decided to stick around and subscribe! That set up sounds awesome! I am shopping for a new 65inch oled for one room and an 83 or 85 inch QLED for my big theater room so I am right there with you on getting the set up and it costs $$$ lol...
@@AVAPopCulture You’re welcome! I definitely am! Yeah, it was a little over $3,500 with tax but it’s well worth it to have saved up for! Myself, I just went with a 55 inch though because of the size of my bedroom and the fact that I am wheelchair bound so regardless, if I’m sitting or laying down, I’m the same distance away from the TV so 55 was really the right size for my bedroom. I highly recommend going with the S90D! QDOLED once it’s fully calibrated correctly, things will look better than you ever knew they could look! To me I feel like I’m looking through the screen instead of at it!
I remember seeing Ghostbusters in the cinema I won a double pass along with the soundtrack on vinyl so I took a schoolmate along to see it and I have been a fan ever since
Nice, I have most of these now. I have some extra favorites in my collection: VSU DARYL, SF Used Cars, Sony's La Femme Nikita. Temple of Doom was always my favorite Indy, but the other two are close.
I have the DARYL VSU, I think from a quality standpoint, all the VSUs could be on a must own list but I don't think a lot of people even know about or remember films like Daryl, Southern Comfort, Six String samuri etc etc - so I kept a lot of those off my list and tried to go with more "common staples" of films that a wider audience knows and would start a collection with or be a foundation of a collection
Jaws 1, the first standard release you have in the special slip case, also has HDR-10+. I'm sure it's the same, but the film vault is known to add additional extras.
I cant for the life of me find where it is labeled as having HDR10+ on there... I am guessing it is the same though, honestly it would be hard to improve it - but the film vault extras are nice
The Thing, Alien, (Second Sight version) The Witch, Back To The Future, Lord Of The Rings, Raiders Of The Lost Ark, Casablanca, The Maltese Falcon, Arsenic & Old Lace, & Lawrence Of Arabia - that would be my top 10 - in no order - newer movies are a whole diff. thing 😎
Thank you so much! glad you enjoyed it! I Love Blade Runner but I dont have the 4k yet and I'll never put anything on a list that I dont own and havent evaluated if I am telling other people to buy it LOL BUT it is only a matter of time until I get it and it may pop up on round 2 of this list !
I would like to see the 2011 Prequel the Thing in 4k. Only blue ray so far. Definitely going to check out weird science. Check out Fargo in 4k as well.
Great recommendations! Many I would agree with. There are a couple I have not seen but heard alot about....Dog Soldiers and Night of the Comet. Need to pick those up.
A really great list of brilliant 4Ks. Could I add a couple more titles - David Lean’s Lawrence of Arabia, and Martin Scorsese’s Hugo. I look forward to watching more of your videos, thank you.🙏
I ordered "The Thing" on 4K and just saw it for the first time. Crisp transfer and a wild ride. The "Thing" reminded me a little of the monster in Resident Evil which I also recommend if you haven't seen it. Next up, Killer Klowns!.
I picked up that same Back to the Future set for less than $30 several months ago. I can't believe how much it's only gone up since then. Not many from the 80s do I feel that 4K is necessary but that was one I had to make an exception for. I just ordered 3 Blurays to add to my collection. One of them is a copy of one I already own on DVD but the directors cut of Dark City. I also have Legend and Beetlejuice and I picked up all three for around $20.
see, I am the opposite! I think the 80s movies is the prime area for 4ks...they are mostly iconic and still well known and popular films shot on film and delivered in 2k to theaters and less to home video...more recent movies shot on digital are the ones, in my opinion that that dont need 4ks...they were shot digital and in 4k, 6k or higher, so if they are actually down scaled to 1080p in might help take some of the "digital look" off them! just my opinion! But I cant beleive the cost of that BTTF 4k set either!
@AVAPopCulture After I got The Fugitive on 4K, I think it's the 90s films that can utilize it even better than the 80s for me. I would be curious to see the difference in a film like Multiplicity. Not one I own, but the way it was shot never looked right to me because of digital smoothing, making it look so fake that it was distracting from the film for me.
I'm surprised Blade Runner or 2001 aren't on your list. Unless they aren't movies you watch over, and over. 2001 especially looks like it could have been shot yesterday. It's hard to believe it was made in 1968. But then the trippy ending reminds you lol. I had no idea there were two versions of the Fifth Element. I have the Sony one, and I'm not so sure I'd double dip.
Very cool that you're friends with Kreese himself! I met Martin Kove at Indy Horror Hound Convention in 2018 and he couldn't have been nicer! Reference "The Thing" in 4K...I have the Special Collector's edition from a couple of years ago and it is pristine...do you notice an uptick in the 4K because I didn't think that was possible
he is super nice! we were shooting nights on set and all staying together in a massive lake house and I kept not drinking enough water or eating enough because I was filming and directing the movie and he would literally get me protein milkshakes and water and bring them to me here and there lol...he insisted I do a scene with him- on and on...he is an incredible guy
I know your pain concerning damaged slipcovers. My record is FOUR. I purchased FOUR copies of Sicario: Day of the Soldado on 4K. The first, the second, AND the third copies were all damaged. I sent each one back. The fourth time was the charm.
I finally gave up for the time being on that one set because it kept coming from the same place so it was clear that they must have bought a bunch of damaged ones or something
@robertfaulkner1824 dude, you are spot on and I love that movie and the 4k is outstanding but I was trying to spread the love around and think in terms of a wide foundation and it came down to Rocky or Rambo First Blood and in the end, Rocky is probably my favorite all-time movie...but I 100000% consider First Blood a must own
I was on the fence about Weird Science. I thought it was a source issue, as I remember the movie being very grainy on cable. I actually like that about the movie. Anyway, it's on sale so i picked it up. Thanks for the advice!
check out my video on why most 4k reviews are wrong....I kind explain why some of the things people are unhappy with in 4ks are there....there are a couple moments of heavier grain but given what they shot with, the lighting conditions, and age of the film (and how they processed it back then) there is a good reason for it that had nothing to do with the restoration but 99.9% of the film is incredible!
Of your entire collection, the only one I have in mine is the "Back to the Future" trilogy; I also want "Twister" as well. Otherwise, I'm not very interested in the rest of your picks, mainly because the bulk of them are horror films and I stepped away from that a long time ago.
The Friday 4k definitely had issues, the HDR grading is improper with whites especially being blown out. It's also missing the original mono audio. Shout blu is still the way to go.
Sold the 4K after seeing the much too darker image, the nuclear brights, the fade to whites were changed to fade to black, and the lack of original mono. My Shout Box Set is just fine and dandy.
Just found your channel and of course I would watch a video about top films from your collection. Why are the Arrow releases so thick (Robo Cop, Witness, and of course True Romance). Rarely do I buy a film more than once though. Why is 16 mm so hard to upgrade? Nice background I had to pause just to look around.
welcome aboard! glad you found the channel! Those Arrow releases are the Limited Edition box sets so that is why they are thick - they have the movie + poster, booklet, art cards etc in them.... 16mm is hard to upgrade because it had lower resolution originally and much larger naturally occuring film grain - so when you increase the resolution, it can increase the visibility of that grain and the film itself may not even be capable of reaching full 4k resolution depending on the condition it is in...and thank you about the background, I love neon and all my stuff sitting around to look at lol
@@AVAPopCulture Thanks for the info. I read a commuter years ago that 16 mm would be hard to transfer to 4K. The commenter did not elaborate when I asked. I was interested because the thread was about The Walking Dead filmed with 16 mm film. Thanks for the info on the Arrow releases as well.
thanks man! The hard box slip cases are from Blockbusterboxsets on ETSY... I make a lot of what I call "after market slip covers" - the cardboard/paper kind, myself!
People say the "TrapSet" of the Ghostbusters which has a new Dolby Vision remaster of the two original movies looks alot better but I'm NOT paying over $300+ for a used copy of something that was originally much less. The first addition is just fine if you adjust your HDR settings.
@screamingeekmedia I'm running into that issue right now myself...I even posted a couple that I am selling that I had planned to keep as unopened backups so that I can buy some stuff I don't have lol
Really liked this list. I agree with Jaws. Almost bought that newer version too but I said what's the point. Can't look better. I need to get that predator because it's on my wish list. I just know as soon as I buy it they'll come out with like another special edition 4K or something. I need to watch my killer clowns. I've had it for a couple weeks now. Might watch it closer to Halloween. Years ago my brother bought me the Dawn of the Dead DVD set with all the discs and it's amazing and I bought the second sight 4K Dawn of the Dead without even thinking about it. I could probably watch that movie everyday. I love it so much. And I don't live too far from where they filmed it which is cool. I was actually there in June for the living Dead weekend and finally met. Greg nicotero. I love the Conan set. I'm so glad I bought it. Even the second one looks good.
thanks man!! Killer Klowns blows me away in this 4k release...it is crazy...I got predator 4k for $11.99 a good while ago on amazon...that is a top 5 all time favorite film for me so I will double, triple, quadrouple dip for it lol
I remember seeing it predator that is opening weekend back in '87. I just aged myself. Yeah, I'm going to have to grab it but there's a 4K set of the first four predator movies. I don't know if it's the same transfer. Do you know?@@AVAPopCulture
I replied to this but it's gone now. I don't even remember what I said. Between TH-cam and Instagram not putting my comments up. It's starting to really piss me off.
I have no deal with anyone.... not sure what movie you find "weird" in this 25 but just because you think they are weird and dont want them doesnt mean others feel the same...and I buy what I want to buy from each label, that doesnt mean you have to buy everything they put out (what a concept right?)
The Proposition The Conversation The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly Once Upon a Time in the West Memories of Murder Drive Interstellar Old Boy The Sting Donnie Darko RAN Limbo E.T. Dune Part 1 & 2 The Crow Andor (incredible cinema) Kindergarten Cop The Others Tropic Thunder Edge of Tomorrow (Live, Die, Repeat) Event Horizon Flatliners (not the remake) Triangle of Sadness Chernobyl Robin Hood Prince of Thieves High plains Drifter In Bruges Men in Black (new remastered Steelbook w/ DV Nope Elf Starship Troopers National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation Top Gun & Top Gun Maverick Your Name / Weathering With You Mulholland Drive
Were any of these released after 2000? Granted i know older films lend themselves to the transfer better. But some kinda modern film would've been nice.
I mention this is a foundational collection building list that will not include any digitally shot films because you should be fine with how any of those look!! Of course there are movies after 2000 that are good films but most people readily think about those due to recency bias! Thanks for watching!
@andremelandray7102 I have a few...I have an LG Oled, a Sony bravia and a vizio quantum pro... I am looking to get an upgrade to a 83 inch oled for my big theater room...so I am currently in the deep dive research portion of that lol
@@AVAPopCulture I also have an oled , looking to upgrade to a bigger one myself , you being a filmmaker and knowing you stuff , i was highly curious , are you going to wait for a qd-oled or is oled enough to you?
The hard box slip cases are from Blockbusterboxsets on ETSY... I make a lot of what I call "after market slip covers" - the cardboard/paper kind, myself!
@AVAPopCulture Did you make the Indiana Jones slipcovers as well? Been looking for a way to protect them from scratches on the shelf and those look awesome!
Question, I kind of got confused on how you purchased the killer klowns from outer space. Can you please explain? Is it like two or three separate purchases to get what you have?
yes, I bought the Steelbook from Scream Factory and I also bought the collector's edition release that comes with 2 slip-covers and 2 posters from Scream Factory...I also bought a custom made slip box for my steelbook from a seller on ETSY
The Ultimate Hunter Edition of Predator on standard blu ray was bloody awful. It was DNR'd to hell and back, so when I got the trilogy set of 1, 2 and Predators I stuck the 4K of the first film on, and wow. It blew my mind. It was how I imagined the blu ray should have looked (in 1080p, mind). The detail is phenomenal, and it sounds fantastic. Same as both Back To The Future and Twister (I couldn't wait for a UK release, so I imported the US version), but I think Twister is possibly my second favourite restoration behind Star Trek The Motion Picture Director's Edition. Also, your steelbook set of Ghostbusters 1&2, does your 4K disc of the first film freeze at about the 20-24 minute mark?
I havent had any freezing issues with it...the only thing I have ever had freeze up was actually Twister....I took it out and re-wiped it and it didn't do it again
@AVAPopCulture interesting. That might be all my copy needs. Funnily enough, it freezes worse on my ps5 than my dedicated 4K player, such only freezes for about a second, then continues.
A recent release that I feel isn’t talked about enough is Arrow’s 4K of Blackhat. That has reference quality audio. Movie seems polarizing but I liked it a lot. Criterion 4K of Trainspotting was great as well.
Its a good 4K Release The Thing, print is exceptional, the film is exceptional, but the DTS X sound mix has a mistake in that the front soundstage is at incorrect levels, (Left & right channel) causes it sound way off and un natural sounding. Arrow video’s previous Bluray from a 4k scan is better as it has a 5.1 and Original Soundtrack in 4.1, Both are superior to the 4K versions soundtrack. Until Arrow release The Thing on 4K or Universal correct there mastering mistake, the Definitive way to watch the thing is Arrow’s Bluray
I havent heard that....Im no sound guy but In my set-up I dont hear that...I think a lot of people run with popular complaints...I kinda dive into sound in 4ks in a recent video -remember, DTS X /Atmos etc didnt exist when the sound was recorded so it was all done after the fact from audio that was remaining to work with it....if the stem files didnt exist in separate form and all the audio FX were encoded into 1 track, then they cant really pull them apart - so unless they create new FX, they can run into issues
Pretty sure what you're saying about ghostbusters 4k was from the 2017 first print not the steelbook u have that came from re release same as the fifth element was not right either then studio canal sorted it it so the ghostbusters 4k from ur release had no issues
I am still finding my place with the physical 4k, but I think super heavy grain just takes me out for some reason. I found Predator unwatchable for this reason and returned the disc. Same thing happened with Weird Science for me. Comparing those to a release like Twister makes them almost impossible to watch for me. Maybe I am being a bit too harsh for the environment they filed in along with other factors.
you should check out my video on "why most 4k reviews are wrong" - I go into some technical aspects and more of the process etc and talk about Weird Science and a few other films it may give you a new perspective on it BUT some of it seems to be releated to your age or when you grew up - Ive noticed a lot of people who grew up watching more movies in the late 90s-early 2000s to now, were accustomed to a more digital ultra clear- artifical but sharp look - that's nto always the case but it is something I am noticing
Lots of great movies on that list 😃👍. Still only collecting DVDs and Blu Rays. Have a few 4Ks but not yet a 4k player. One of them is actually weird science. Thinking that it is probably best to buy a region free 4k Player. I am a little unsure about the optimal TV. Thinking of giving myself a new one as a Christmas present 😉. You mention a little about OLED TVs. It would be great if you could make a video about which TVs that is optimal for watching 4k. Just an idea, my knowledge is a bit lacking in that area
thank you! I have been doing research ad nauseum on OLEDs lately because I am looking to buy a 77 inch or bigger for my living room and I may do a video on it because I am so overloaded with facts and info now lol...this is one of the 2 I am considering for my living room theater set up after my research: LG C2 Series 83-Inch Class OLED evo Smart TV (they have this same tv in different sizes)... Sony Bravia's OLED tvs are probably a touch better for movies but they price point is about 40% more....for your 4k region free player I highly recommend for a an every day workhorse that wont break the bank, Sony X800M2 Region Zone Code Free 4K UHD Blu Ray Player it is usually about $375 ... you do have to manually switch between Dolby Vision and HDR10 depending on the 4k movie but it is a great every day player...remember though, 4k movies are region free, so you only need a region free for Blu-Rays that are region locked! You could get a cheap bluray only region free player and a standard 4k player but it would still probably come out to about $300 or more dollars, and then you have to hook up 2 units
@@AVAPopCultureHi, thanks for the reply. Yes, money matters too. Especially to avoid wrong purchases. Have already made an error with my current player, because of course shortly after buying a DVD/Blu ray player i thought - why didn't i just buy a 4k player?. Yes, region free is mostly to be able to play DVD and Blu Rays from all regions. Most movies are available in Region b, But bought a couple that were region a and then haven't been able to play them. It will just be nice not to have that limitation. Especially if, for example, a movie is only available in region a. The Sony player you mention sounds like a good solution. So the doubt lies mostly around the TV now. Have heard good things about LG And 40% cheaper is a lot, so that is worth to take in considering . Looking forward to the video if you decide to make one
Not a fan of film grain, find it to distracting, spoils my enjoyment of the movie, don't get grain in real life, so don't see the point of it Only movies l have in your collection is "Roadhouse" "Point Break" but sound quality is not as good as newer movies so generally don't get older movies
film grain naturally occurs in film - it most closely mimics our eyes because we do not see in perfect sharp detail and sharp edges in things we look at - film produces the same roll off of detail from a focus point that our eyes do which makes it more natural and realistic - digital has a fake unnatural appearance (which is the same reason people complain about DNR is overused-because digital looks fake) but to each their own!
@@Music.Movies.67 ok....except everyone's vision rolls off from a focus point : “In humans, cone packing varies within the fovea itself, with a sharp peak in its center. When we focus on an object, we align our eyes so that its image falls exactly on that spot and surround points move into less focus as they move further from the center focus point. Our eyes function similarly to a camera, but they’re not really the same. In a digital camera, light-sensitive elements are distributed evenly across the surface of their sensors. They’re the same all over the sensor, with the same size, properties, and operating principles. Our eyes use two types of cells to pick up on light, the rod and cone photoreceptors. The first kind is useful for seeing motion in dim light, and the latter is suited to picking out colors and fine detail in good lighting conditions. Unlike in a camera, however, the photosensitive cells in our retinas aren’t evenly distributed. They vary quite significantly in density, size, and spacing. The fovea, a specialized central area of our retinas that can produce the sharpest vision, has around 200,000 cone cells per square millimeter. At the edges of the retina, this can fall to around 5,000 per square millimeter, which is 40 times less dense. In essence, our eyes produce high-definition images in the middle of our field of view and progressively less-defined images towards the edges. Our brains kind of fill in the missing information around the edges to make it all seem seamless - but if you try to pay attention to something at the edges of your vision, you’ll notice how little detail you can actually notice there." That is literally from a medical article LOL... Our eyes and the way we see is completely different than a digital image from a camera which is why they look fake and, well, DIGITAL lol
Second Sight boxsets are much better than Arrow now, Arrow has been slacking with their premium boxsets. Conan was probably their last chunky boxset with a booklet. Second Sight always they don’t cheap out like Arrow is now doing. Vinegar and SS have surpassed Arrow in packaging now
the American Gigolo that just came out has a booklet and poster with it and a nice full slip over the whole box...I feel like my Dog soldier and Ginger Snaps sets are identical to my arrow sets...I love SS and VS too though

Twister is my audio demo disc I love it
it is really damn good!
I remember seeing Ghostbusters in the cinema
I won a double pass along with the soundtrack on vinyl so I took a schoolmate along to see it and I have been a fan ever since
It was so awesome to get to see so many of the 80s movies that are still so popular today, in the theaters!! good times!
The Thing, Alien, (Second Sight version) The Witch, Back To The Future, Lord Of The Rings, Raiders Of The Lost Ark, Casablanca, The Maltese Falcon, Arsenic & Old Lace, & Lawrence Of Arabia - that would be my top 10 - in no order - newer movies are a whole diff. thing 😎
Great list! Glad to see some lesser known titles on here. I'd also definitely recommend Blade Runner if you like that movie!
Awesome video, glad I found your channel
Hey! thanks so much! I am glad you found my channel and enjoyed what you saw enough to stick around! Hope you have as much fun here as I do!
Need to pick those up.
those are 2 great ones!!!! Dog Soldiers is a top 3 werewolf film for me
A really great list of brilliant 4Ks.
Could I add a couple more titles - David Lean’s Lawrence of Arabia, and Martin Scorsese’s Hugo.
I look forward to watching more of your videos, thank you.🙏
thank you so much! glad you enjoyed it! I need to pick those 2 up and check them out on 4k!
Lawrence of Arabia is beautiful. But man, watching Peter O’Toole act is painful to watch.
I ordered "The Thing" on 4K and just saw it for the first time. Crisp transfer and a wild ride. The "Thing" reminded me a little of the monster in Resident Evil which I also recommend if you haven't seen it. Next up, Killer Klowns!.
I have not seen any of the Resident Evil movies in 4k, but I have seen them! You will be blown away by Killer Klowns in 4k!
@@AVAPopCulture The 4K collection is around $50 and if you want the steel book version its around $100.
Damn man, GREAT video! I'm brand new here, just subbed!
thank you so much!!! I am glad you enjoyed it and even more glad you enjoyed it enough to subscribe and hang around! welcome aboard!
Yep I love the fifth element and because we didn't get a local release here in Australia it's one of many 4L movies i have to import
Amityville Horror 4k is amazing totally agree 👍 just love Margot Kidder
it really blew me away how great it looked
I'm surprised Blade Runner or 2001 aren't on your list. Unless they aren't movies you watch over, and over. 2001 especially looks like it could have been shot yesterday. It's hard to believe it was made in 1968. But then the trippy ending reminds you lol. I had no idea there were two versions of the Fifth Element. I have the Sony one, and I'm not so sure I'd double dip.
I thought he was going 2001 at #1 tbh. Good list though
We are getting a 4K release of Twister here in Australia but not until the 16 of October
Some absolute classics in there! Still have not seen Back to the Futures (don't shoot me 😂).
I think I just died a little inside LOL!!!!!!!
@@AVAPopCulture What a wonderful problem to have! Keep posting content, my friend.
Where do you buy your 4Ks. Sad that best busy doesn’t sell movies any longer 😔

TWISTER!!!
I’m surprised first blood didn’t make your list given your taste. That transfer is amazing
@robertfaulkner1824 dude, you are spot on and I love that movie and the 4k is outstanding but I was trying to spread the love around and think in terms of a wide foundation and it came down to Rocky or Rambo First Blood and in the end, Rocky is probably my favorite all-time movie...but I 100000% consider First Blood a must own
Matinee is one of my favourite movies!
mine too, I love everything about it! it checks all of my boxes lol
One movie I wish would get updated The Keep. It seems to be a very hard to find movie.
Of your entire collection, the only one I have in mine is the "Back to the Future" trilogy; I also want "Twister" as well. Otherwise, I'm not very interested in the rest of your picks, mainly because the bulk of them are horror films and I stepped away from that a long time ago.
Are they? I count at least 10 or 11 that aren't horror and a few others that are more scifi but to each their own man lol...it is all make believe
yeah baby, let's do this!
I picked up the 4K of the shining used for a whopping $7 from a pawn store
nothing wrong with used!!! I buy a lot of OOP stuff from ebay
Great video where did you get the slip cases?
thanks man! The hard box slip cases are from Blockbusterboxsets on ETSY... I make a lot of what I call "after market slip covers" - the cardboard/paper kind, myself!
You might be able to rip both your Jaws discs and compare the md5 of the movies. That might tell you if they are the same file.
People say the "TrapSet" of the Ghostbusters which has a new Dolby Vision remaster of the two original movies looks alot better but I'm NOT paying over $300+ for a used copy of something that was originally much less. The first addition is just fine if you adjust your HDR settings.
yeah, I am all about the definitive editions of my favorite films but that price is just too out there right now
I have Fifth Element from Sony. need to pick up Studio Canal's.
Studio Canal's is the better of the 2 for sure
@@AVAPopCulture I have it in my wishlist. But have to keep it there due to all the other movies I want and can't afford. LOL

I have not picked up Blackhat yet!
Its a good 4K Release The Thing, print is exceptional, the film is exceptional, but the DTS X sound mix has a mistake in that the front soundstage is at incorrect levels,
(Left & right channel) causes it sound way off and un natural sounding.
The Karate Kid 4K I have is the first issue without Dolby Vision. I would love the trilogy but the price is still too high.

Not a fan of film grain, find it to distracting, spoils my enjoyment of the movie, don't get grain in real life, so don't see the point of it
Only movies l have in your collection is "Roadhouse" "Point Break" but sound quality is not as good as newer movies so generally don't get older movies
film grain naturally occurs in film - it most closely mimics our eyes because we do not see in perfect sharp detail and sharp edges in things we look at - film produces the same roll off of detail from a focus point that our eyes do which makes it more natural and realistic - digital has a fake unnatural appearance (which is the same reason people complain about DNR is overused-because digital looks fake) but to each their own!
Only time l see grain is in a sandstorm
Sounds like ya needs glasses if can't see clearly
Our brains kind of fill in the missing information around the edges to make it all seem seamless - but if you try to pay attention to something at the edges of your vision, you’ll notice how little detail you can actually notice there."
That is literally from a medical article LOL...
