It's one of my favorites. I like the first three games much better (pixel-style one and two). I think it would have been nice to stop at the third. I didn't like Escape from Monkey Island and neither did Tales. I haven't played the new one yet, but I intend to buy it for Christmas and see what I think.

Tales of Monkey Island translated all the character and style to 3D so well, and Return to Monkey Island ended up being brilliant. Still need to complete Curse of Monkey Island and haven't even tried Escape yet, but I did finish the first episode for Sea of Thieves: Monkey Island expansion. Quite good, that crate puzzle had me stumped for a bit.

I was super excited, until I saw the artwork. If something as important as the art is that bad, then I can't expect the rest of the game to be any better.
honestly to see this classic return in the sea of thieves and the theme music played by players on the hurdy Gordy and accordion is such a heart warming moment
And then we get Sea of Thieves: Legends of Monkey Island What I find cool and amusing is the fact that rare essentially had that crossover planned for well over 2 years or more cause they intended to have Easter eggs to that franchise when they were hiding the Pirates of the Caribbean crossover from us for a whole ass year, several books can be found in the first Pirate’s Life tall tales!

I have a tradition to go through all the Monkey Island games once a year, I also enjoyed the Sea of Thieves Talltale and started to play the main Sea of Thieves after finishing that, so I guess good advertisement of the game for Monkey Island fans. In my opinion, the order from better to worst is: 2>3>4>RtMI>1>ToMI All of them are great, though.

I've never heard of that title. I gamed with consoles in my teen years. I had a pc but never thought to play any games other than the Sims. I missed out on a lot!

Still a goshdarn shame Return still treats Escape and Tales as canon in some way. Gods, sure was a struggle, getting fine answers on the past Monkey Island games on Return's occasional guesswork puzzles because I "neuralyzed" myself from those skippable apocryphal titles.
