This game would mark -The first road playoff win in Panthers history -The last NFL playoff game in St. Louis -The first double overtime NFL playoff game since 1986
Wilkins would've been the man of the hour if he didn't miss that long kick in OT. If he makes its, he would've been 6/6 with 2 50+ yarders including the winner, not to mention recovering his own onside kick.
This game was the final and true death of the Greatest Show on Turf.. I cried my eyes out when Steve Smith did what he did in OT. Will never forget this day😢
this is my first time watching this and came from steve talkin w/ edel, my good issac/holt faulk one 1 side, steve smith and delhomme playing insane is just crazy lmao. defense played well too w/ picks and missed FG? lmao that first OT is wildddddddd.
Great game but Their REDZONE offense (RAMS) killed them in this one. They were pretty good in 2003 but one very OBVIOUS limitation that hindered the Rams for many YEARS (after the Greatest Show on Turf era) was their inefficiency and INability to score TDs in the Red zone.
The Rams should’ve kept their bright yellow and blue uniform after winning the Super Bowl in ‘99. These ugly uniforms we’re a jinx. Also if Warner was able to stay healthy and began wearing gloves sooner, he could’ve remained the starter. Bulger had so much beginner’s luck because he was inheriting the remains of the GSOT.
They (the Rams) got cocky after their SB34 win, and upgraded the classic yellow to " Millennium Gold " and introduced the new Ram logo. I suspect that their inward thought as an organization was that they would eventually be some sort of beautiful dynasty. That ended in SB36
It's not shown in this, but Mike Martz completely cost the Rams the game by playing for the field goal on the tying drive. They had TONS of time to go for the endzone.
The Rams didn't want to lose Mike Martz to a head coaching job with another team. So they put Vermiel in a sort of "forced retirement" where he still received his full pay and benefits.
I feel like it should’ve been pats vs Rams SB 38 instead of panthers. Than it should’ve been pats vs falcons SB 39 instead of eagles. But SB 40 Steelers vs eagles instead Seahawks. Than SB 41 colts vs Seahawks.

And the end to the Greatest Show on Turf, who could’ve rewritten history had this playoff run gone better for them
Stephen Davis is so criminally underrated. Dude was a beast! He was the heart beat of that team and he was never the same after his injury in ‘04.
13:50 This TD established the legend of Steve Smith
Panthers fan here. Greatest moment in Panther history for me … what a game, what a finish
One of my favorite games to watch till this day. Not even a fan of either team but damn was this game intense.
Def remember watching this game live on FOX as a kid. Classic postseason game
Me too I was like 9. Broke my heart
This game should be on the list as one of the Carolina panthers greatest games.
Daylight Come....... AND YOU GOTTA DELHOMME
Rare Double OT NFL playoff game
Especially considering back then you only needed a field goal to win.
@@kevinhenry4047 Before the 2011 playoffs it was sudden death after the OT coin flip
An absolute battle
The last time the St. Louis Rams hosted a playoff game.
10:16 bro getting his own onside kick is goated. didn't realize he was 5/5 on FGs and then missed the game winner too
14:02 the td that made Smith a legend
Greatest game ive ever watched
Jake named one of his horses "X-Clown" after that play. :D
The start of the Greatest Show on Turf's ending...
After this game it was all downhill for the Greatest Show On Turf
Best playoff game I've ever seen.

If Mike Martz ( glad he was) wasn't conservative in the last two minutes, the Rams would have most likely won .
Agreed but Wilkins is just NOT the one to blame here. If the Rams could have actually scored some damn TDS in the Red zone that would have been great
This is an underrated game. Probably the most forgotten double-overtime classic in NFL postseason history.
Fuckin hate that we lost this damn game. Game was so winnable too
Shit made me cry as a kid..that was another superbowl for the Rams
Man i remember that Smith catch like it was yesterday, nine year old me went crazy.
DeShaun Foster was a beast…injuries kept him from really thriving, great agility and ability to break tackles..
Both coaches could go on to have horrible tenures with the bears 😂

Steve Smith is such a legend. As hawks fan it's crazy how Doug Baldwin almost look identical.
Panthers should of won this super bowl this was our year too bad our kicker sold
And the defense couldn’t stop TB12!
Jake Delhomme outplayed Tom Brady in the super bowl.

Yes
Crazy how this Rams team only won one SB after 99 season.
Now they won again, 22 years later. Cooper Kupp looks like the 2nd coming of Torry Holt lol! 😂

Ricky manning’s int is one of my favorite plays ever seen n I cannot find a clip of it anywhere..

Adam Archuleta took a horrific angle on smitty's touchdown
Man...Marc Bulger stunk
Kurt Warner got done dirty in St Louis
Greatest Panther win!
Excelent
Marc Bulger was basically the original Kirk Cousins. Couldn't win when it mattered.
I know WHY Martz didn't trust Bulger in the end (22 INTs in the regular season) but still.....
Panthers won it on the first play of the 2nd overtime period

Geez in the first OT both coaches should have gone for a touchdown rather a goalfield
It's not shown in this, but Mike Martz completely cost the Rams the game by playing for the field goal on the tying drive. They had TONS of time to go for the endzone.
They were not going to get the touchdown. Simple as that and the Rams knew it.
@@STP43FAN1 Well they had just scored one minutes earlier and had quickly driven down to the redzone again.
The rams totally would have scored. Seahawks 2015 nfc title game.
How about going for a run and a FG in the last minute of OT
Why was Delhomme throwing that hissy fit after that sack??
Why did the rams and dick vermeil ever part?
Vermeil retired after winning the Super Bowl in '99
Could have been burnout again just like when he left the Eagles

Man those Rams uniforms were ugly.
You're trippin. The new ones are garbage. These were the best Ram uniforms all time. And they scored the most points in them.
@@yaahlabanyamyan144 Nah their 90’s uniforms are better than both.
Yeah for real why change the uniform after winning it all? Changing the ingredients to success is unwise.
Man bulged sucked such a far cry from Warner
Bulger was so trash
