@@SwitchWatch If it's about physical releases It can be filled with all the "bad humour" and padded to infinity - even though I'm no collector I think that's the important stuff
Good to know it's half decent as I preordered it from Strictly Limited not knowing too much about it or even having seen much footage. I'm of a certain age that went to arcades regularly throughout the entirety of the 90's and like you I don't recall seeing any action platformers. I'm sure they were tucked away somewhere but it my era it was all fighters, beat em ups, light gun shooters and racing games. On a side note I have to acknowledge your low key comedic chops Jordan. Thank you for sparing us from the constant Raid Shadow Legends and Manscaped sponsor ads 😂
I am so happy to finally see a real full review of the game being done so far or so close to its final physical release to my door I ordered that super ultra special edition that comes with the little figurine and everything for I think a bit over 200 US dollars and I ordered it way back in March so by the time December rolls around I think it'll be 8 or 9 months and that would make one heck of a Christmas present because it looks absolutely amazing and tons of fun. Thank you for the detailed and extended view into a game I've been waiting almost a year for cheers and happy holidays.
I pre orderd the collector’s edition as well. Can’t wait for it to arrive (the statue 💗) hopefully we get some content later on the road for Clockwork Aquario
You know, now that I think about it, the closest I’ve ever seen to a platformer in the arcade was legend of kage, or rolling thunder. Where and when were games like this in the arcade? My favorite games to play in the arcade were always brawlers, felt like I could get my money’s worth. Thanks for the great content as usual!
@@SwitchWatch I liked those too! I think the 2 games that got the most of my money was spy hunter and this Star Wars game that had the Death Star run in it! I stole a lot of quarters from my brothers change jar for these games lol
Taito, who made Legend of Kage, had a decent amount of arcade platformers (as did Sega, to a lesser degree). New Zealand Story, Rainbow Islands, etc etc. We just usually didn't get those types of games at the arcades in my area, unfortunately.
🕰🕰Thank you for the lovely trip down memory lane, Jordan. I remember the arcade days of the 90s and early 2000s. I did not like what arcades have become today, pre-COVID of course.
I’m really excited to finally receive my LE edition I ordered about a year ago and play it. ;) I love arcade games and this one looks beautiful and fun too!
I cant wait to play this game. Honestly I have been waiting what feels like 2 years for my Strictly Limited Games physical copy.. seriously, when are they actually sending this game to us?!?⏰
🕐 great review Jordan. I am slightly older than you (~21 years) and do recall platformers in the arcade. Such as Donkey Kong and Popeye, two early Nintendo titles that come to mind. But you are right, they’re not really best suited for that format
I really love those visuals and I think it's awesome that a lost game essentially got revived. But I've been spoiled by modern games where you don't need to 'spend credits' to keep going. I think I'd get frustrated with the harder gameplay as well, and it seems like it would be more fun in multiplayer so I think I'll wait before possibly picking this up. Thanks for the review.
Thunder Hoop was an awesome arcade platformer. Can’t wait to play clockwork aquario, seems to be a bit on the short side gameplay wise. Maybe we can expect some content updates?
@@SwitchWatch It just got released on the Eshop today! Liquid Kids/Mizubaku Daibouken, I mean. Edit: a couple of days ago, not today, i guess. I missed the release haha.
I really wonder if strictly limited had to wait for the japanese release. I sadly bundled it with another game so I probably won't see it until June of next year if Im lucky. 🤷♀️
I've pre-ordered the mega bundle last year and I doubt I will get my pre-order fulfilled this year. Hell, the Asha in Monster World is already out, yet Strictly Limited still hasn't sent out their pre-orders, what a bunch of pyramid schemers. Seems I've basically thrown money away pre-ordering from Strictly Limited, so I'll just buy the North America release when ININ releases it.
only 20-25 mn really for finish the game it's very short ! i expected really more on this point, i heard this game will have a retail release in europe too by inin but anyways i am waiting my copy from strictly limited.
This game just give Super Mario Bros. 2 vibe with the pick up enemies and throwing them. Might pickup this game. Me when it comes to cute 2D platformer, I couldn't resist,
I can't help but feel slightly skeptical about this whole game and the marketing behind it. Don't get me wrong looks good and all, but it has been lauded almost like a lost relic, when in reality it was basically just a prototpye of a game that was almost finished, which I'm sure there were hundreds if not thousands of games like this back then. Even its wikipedia page just reads like an ad. It's good that it was restored, but all the PR we have been hearing about it just seems like an excuse to inflate its actual value.
Platformers and arcade are no strangers I believe, Super Mario Bros. comes into my mind. Because there are many thousands of arcade games existing, there are also a lot of platformers I think.
I wish I had known there was a JP version coming for this since strictly limited takes so long. I already preordered from strictly limited so I'm stuck waiting for them to release it.
I've seen this on the Strictly Limited site but i wasn't sure if i wanted to get it or not. I may get the Japanese standard edition since it has english support. Shame there's no western release though.
Very interesting in this. Thank you. Man. Jordan. You are running the joint all on your own! Good job. Very entertaining watch. Balls of fire...leave that hair alone, especially all you pretty girl gamers. ☄☄ 🤰
