Playa Pilar Beach - Cayo Guillermo - Cuba

Playa Pilar, beach, it is one of the several beaches of Cayo Guillermo, it stands out from all its competitors, and it is considered the best in Cuba, and even one of the best 25 on the whole planet. Playa Pilar, is in the municipality of Morón, in the province of Ciego de Ávila. It is named after American writer Ernest Hemingway's boat, which popularized the spot in 1970, thanks to his novel, “Islands in the Stream”. It's a strip of fine, shiny sand, and warm turquoise-blue waters that you can't miss on your way to the Jardines, del Rey, meaning King's gardens archipelago in the middle of the Caribbean. The beauty of this beach is accentuated by the splendour of the surrounding nature, an unspoilt natural environment with great visual attractions. You can enjoy the beauty of one of the most impressive coral reefs in the world, as well as the schools of exotic fish that live there. For this reason, it is the ideal place for those who love to practice water sports such as snorkelling or diving, as its transparent and fertile waters are full of life. To visit this dreamlike beach, you must go to Cayo Guillermo, island. It's important to bear in mind that Cayo Guillermo, is an exclusive zone of relaxation. That's why it's difficult to plan a day trip from the main island of Cuba. The best alternative might be to lodge in some hotel on the Cayo Guillermo, or Cayo Coco, that way you don't worry about the transport and the time. In the Cuban keys, the usual type of accommodation is all-inclusive hotel resorts. Therefore, you will not find private accommodation or apartments. As for Playa Pilar, there are two hotels right on the seafront. The hotel, Cayo Guillermo, Resort Kempinski Cuba, built on the Caribbean Sea itself, and the hotel, Iberostar, Selection Playa Pilar, a spectacular complex of the well-known, Iberostar, chain. I visited the Playa Pilar, after stormy night. The beach was partially covered with seaweed what is unusual for this beach, typically in pristine condition. That drawback did not ruin my enjoyment of being at the amazing Playa Pilar.

Stayed at the Iberostar Playa Pilar before Covid. This is a nice newly built resort a short bus ride away from Pilar beach . We took a catamaran day trip that stopped at Pilar beach and the island just out from the beach . This was a great holiday and the beach is as advertised.

Does the iberostar offer bus rides over to this beach?

It takes about 15 min of normal walking from the hotel to the beach. There is a bus that you can take or a taxi.

Have u been to cayo santa maria? Best beachs by far there. Love cayo coco and pilar but cayo santa maria tops that I believe

Iberostar Holguin is very nice. The beach is beautiful, the resort is new or next to new because of covid. We went 3 times at he resort.
