  • Yep - it is official. This is the BEST way to get into racing while saving hundreds of $$$ compared to full race buggies. Period.
    If you want to get into 1/8 buggy racing - just go get one! amzn.to/32embN8
    I visited the RC Farm ( / rc-farm-105135097764710 ) with The Rich D RC ( / richd ) to see how good this Arrma TLR Typhon would do. It not only surprised the two of us, it surprised the regular folks also!

    Awesome job showing the ability out of the box at a track and pointing out its potential. Plus showing the simple changes of better tires and the improvements you can get. Great vid

    I found it needs more toe-in on the rear as the rear end was really loose out of the box. Once I put more rear toe-in and proline blockade tires on velocity rims, it was so much better on the track keeping up with my RC8B4e.

    Man that track looks like alot of fun! 🤩 Your right the TLR Typhon has a bunch of adjustments to make it better on the track 👍 The heart of it is still a Typhon though so you are only going to be able to push it so far

      It's a whole different buggy. It's lighter stronger way more adjustments. I don't get what you mean you're only going to be able to push it so far? It's no different than any other race-spec buggy when it comes to setup. I race mine every weekend. It performs just as well as my RC8B on the track.

    I just bought one of these today. I started with the V2 3s Typhon a couple of years ago and upgraded the electronics. Recently I've been having issues with it, so I decided now is a good time to upgrade and just swap the electronics. I only have one pack through it so far, but I am really impressed with it. Now I just need to learn all the tuning options which seems a bit daunting.

    • @RoadsideRC
      @RoadsideRC  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Honestly - I suggest most folks leave the tuning mostly alone.
      You can find a few setup guides from the pros online. Copy one of their setups for a track similar to yours and leave it! They have 1000s of hours in testing and experience, so I take their word for it and focus on making my driving better.

    I actually just got one a month ago and I have to say it’s really impressive. On 4S it’s very pleasant. Max 8 combo, 19T pinion. It’s as fast as my Kraton 6S (1250 KV motor with 24T). Throw a 6S pack in and it does 80 mph on the stock tires. Tried again with Duratrax and they exploded. Only changes I’ve done to mine are better tires if I want to handle better on dirt and the M2C shock bleeder caps only.

    Hey dude. I've just bought a TLR to go with my tired 3s RTR. This was just the sort of info that I was looking for. I thought if it wasn't as good as I'd hoped, I'd use it as a bashed.
    After watching this, I'm going to spend some time setting it up properly and restore the 3s. I've fitted a Max8 combo, that should do for now.
    Many thanks. 🤝

    Don’t do indoor racing with my TLR but I do speed runs and intermediate drag racing. Clocked 111 mph yesterday with my PowerHobby GNSS. Not sure on durability bashing wise but limitless when wanting to go fast and solid platform out the box to do do.

    • @RoadsideRC
      @RoadsideRC  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I bet it does well in that realm also.
      Curious: why did you go Typhon instead of Talion for the speed runs?

      @@RoadsideRC I changed out the plastic chassis braces to M2C before I ever ran it and forgot they came plastic 🤣but I’ve ran it on 6s and 4s both maybe 6 packs each of just jumping a dirt pile back and forth with a good 15 to 20ft height with zero issues and I definitely crashed a few times but man it soars so nice🤪what is it that you feel isn’t strong?the whole rig as a whole or a certain area?thanks for responding 😜

    • @RoadsideRC
      @RoadsideRC  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A lot of the parts that make it more race-specific.
      Examples:
      - rear shock tower. Look at where the upper turnbuckles mount. Soo many adjustment holes that the mount is weaker than the standard v5.
      - front lower suspension mounts in the plastic "pills". Great for adjustment and racing, but not as solid as the standard v5 mounts.
      If someone is just 100% bashing, I believe the standard v5 is a better choice.
      But - that is just me!

    • @JPRC_CRAZINESS
      @JPRC_CRAZINESS 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RoadsideRC yes the holes are close but we are talking about two different types of metal,rtr is stamped in I think 6061 and the tlr is machined in 7075.and we already know how those compare when bashing already from the rtr kraton and the exb version.

    • @RoadsideRC
      @RoadsideRC  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Agree! I'm not actually worried about the shock tower breaking. It is the screw mounted through it that is compromised because it doesn't have a full hole to support it.

    i have an mp10e, but was looking to getting a Typhon TLR tuned or a RC8B3.2e as a basher/racer at my local track, didn't need it to be super competitive. the RC8B3.2e is on sale for about $100 off right now, so its currently only a little more expensive, but it does need wheels and tires

    The stock tires are ok for messing around, bashing, longer wear but suck at my local track. So much better with the appropriate race compound tires. Pretty impressive that someone could get that close of lap times to full on race setups with the stocks on it. Don't count out this buggy. In capable hands I think it's going to hurt some feelings this next race season...
