Incredible!!!! I enjoyed your passion of this vital topic of engaging marginalized students in the understanding of science. Powerful intro to how our students come unprepared with the ideal classroom skill sets but also how we come to class as educators unprepared to educate these brilliant minds!

Fascinating he combined Paolo Freire's concept with discovery learning style in wrapped in a way that is cultrually relevant to him. For me with expertise in Instructional Design the issue comes with assesment. At some point in time kids have to sit and take tests

Fantastic. Loved the way you made me think about the distinctions between utility and use, between power and the powerful. Lyrical.

Is hip-hop pedagogy really practical or is it just a desire to have what you like around you all the time including school. Or are education and school, a place where all can learn?

This describes students who do not want to learn, and you have to indulge them. I have been in many classes where students slept in the lecture, but I was interested and I did not sleep. Individuals who are interested in learning, are interested in what the lecturer is saying whether he is droning on or whether he is animated. I do not believe that learning should be made unserious. I do not think that hip hop can make differential equations easy.

You are pretty ignorant if you cannot see the intellectual and artistic connections

Oppressed? who is oppressed nowadays, I think that people oppressed themselves, one decides to succeed or to be oppressed. That's my opinion.
