- To celebrate Alien's 40th anniversary and in partnership with Tongal, 20th Century Fox is releasing new Alien-universe fan-made short films leading up to Alien Day on April 26th. Written and directed by Aidan Brezonick, the synopsis for Night Shift reads: "When a missing space trucker is discovered hungover and disoriented, his co-worker suggests a nightcap as a remedy. Near closing time, they are reluctantly allowed inside the colony supply depot where the trucker's condition worsens, leaving a young supply worker alone to take matters into her own hands."

Why is everyone judging this so harshly? It's a fan made short film. How about appreciating what they did and the hours it took to shoot and edit this instead of poking holes in every little inconsistency. If you can do better, then let's see it. -My Two Cents

The huge hole in the plot here is that the chest bursters know they are vulnerable, and hide to safely go into the second stage of metamorphosis. They don’t attack.

Plague Doctor Vortigan He was, but he was also different type, developed faster and had no choice but to defend himself, he was in the open. Starting from the original they’ve always ran from conflict to develop. That was just my take, some had a different vision I guess when writing this. It was still pretty interesting though.
So will this one finally acknowledge the bonus situation.

John Patt unless it was just the skin it shed to become a larger Zenomorph. That’s the feeling I got, that it had grown in size and was staring at her. Seems kinda ridiculous, but they pulled that in Alien Covenant.

I feel like these shorts are building to something and also handling the Alien life-cycle in chronological order give or take rearranging the shorts. Specimen started with the Facehugger, Containment focused on the chest-bursting aspect, Night Shift focuses on the Alien after it bursts from the chest in the early stages of its life. The next 3 shorts are going to be the most interesting, if these shorts are anything to go by we’ll be seeing the Xenomorph properly in at least 2 of the final 3 shorts. I predict the next one will deal with the Xenomorph’s mid life-cycle, then fully grown and finally, perhaps with the help of Fox’s budget provided to them, something tackling the Alien Queen, even if very briefly.

Lol no. They deal with the 1st stage purely because they cant afford to build an alien. That's why we've barely seen anything but glimpses - to disguise how badly the models look.

Best part was the dude pulled out Deckard's blade runner blaster. The white stuff that the guy spit out should have been blood. Made me think he was a synth at first. So far specimen was the best one, but I am still glad people are making these shorts for the 40th anniversary.
I liked it, the everyday life going into the horror suits Alien nicely, couple technical issues aside it would fit nicely in a film

I was thinking the same, the problem isnt that it disappears, the problem is that it's blood all over his body after, so, what kind of Android/human is he?... and if it's an Android, why an alien would breed from its chest? too many questions in 9 minutes
@@sebastiangiordano4312 That wasn't android blood, it was him foaming at the mouth. The continuity issue of it disappearing from one shot to the next still stands, mind.
And one second he's on his back and the next one he's face down... I DESPISE continuity errors.. Just shows laziness.
the missing link It does happen often though. Almost every film has continuity errors. They’re inescapable.
Come on guys, that's two now in which an early stage xeno forgot it's job. Facehuggers rabidly attempt to get on a face, chestbursters escape so they can grow. There's 0 reason it shouldn't have bolted out the open door.
Thank you fox/Disney and IGN; For given us some new alien content… I personally like shorts, and digital mini series, comic books, graphic novels, heck… Even a freaking serial box adventure on the back!

I would rate this is SIA, maybe a C+ if it could’ve been a little bit louder, and with a little bit better background lighting so that we could see in the dark better.
OMG，first time saw how to dealing a "new born" Alien the correct way, kill it right away, instead let it running around and grow to a full size killer which happened almost every Alien movie.
every episode is so "original", there is absolutely no feeling, that I already have seen something similar before ten times at least.

Es Can Or yeah specimen was my favorite. When she took the baseball bat to the alien in this one I was like “that’s weak”. Alien baby or not, you shouldn’t write that a character can kill one with a baseball bat.

I can get the guy with the pistol being panicked and a bad shoot-hitting a person and the electricity seems a reach (one or the other seems more reasonable.) . I give her credit for piping the alien when it is small.
The sounds at the end were a mix and a mess (why have the Prometheus sound??)
As critical as people are being I've seen worse fanfict.
On one scene, the guy laying on the floor, puking blood and foam out of his mouth, the next scene when chestbuster pops out, his face's clean af.
Every horror or sci fi film it never fails! miss the target and shoot the lights out.
This just confirms what I've always felt, nothing after the first 3 films should exist.
This film should have been called- if you can't hit it with 6 rounds. The audio was fine on my phone.

Prometheus, Covenant, Aliens, these shorts - they all make the alien seem commonplace and vulnerable. It is so much scarier with no backstory and no clue what became of Ripley after the Nostromo.
The director of this film should make an entire movie.

Hyperbole, much? I have huge issues with 'Prometheus' and 'Alien: Covenant' too but come on, this short was not objectively superior, much less 30 seconds of it being better than the entirety of the 4 hour running time of both movies combined.

This is what we need as a new alien movie. This is how it starts with a colony getting taken over then people fighting for life like a zombie movie or 30 days of night. We need this as the next alien movie.

Yeah, the alien outside the window at the end (8.31) was there complaining about the bonus situation! Wonder if that bit was a nod to the original Jurassic Park film - because of the scene where the t-rex stoops down, looks through the car window at the torchlight inside? Seems very similar to this at the end.
I love the scene at 5:07 where all the slime is coming out of his mouth all over his face and SUDDENLY on the next frame - its all gone :D
They can't all be winners. I do like the slow fading in and out of the lights. Nice suspense tool.
Please no more characters like the guy with the gun. The story could have been better without his part being used.
This happens when they write a plot and dont want to think too hard about how the old guy is gonna die or how the lights go out...i could have written a better plot in five minutes.
Here,let me try this: Chestbuster breaks out,guy panics,aims his gun at the body,at the same time when the burst happens the power goes out and they hear screams outside,Chestbuster hisses and knocks some stuff over,guy goes full panic mode and shoots in that direction,shooting the old guy who stands near there and killing him.

Weakest one yet. Not scary at all and mostly boring.
The second one was far more boring than this one. Also, if you are scared by any of these or any of the alien movies than you don't need to watch horror.

My biggest and only pet peeve about the Alien series is the amount of time it takes for the chestburster to grow inside it's host. Some how the chestburster grows big and strong enough to escape the host's rib cage in under an hour. Not to forget how fast the chestburster takes to grow to full xenomorph size. I understand that such short timespans quickens the storyline but imagine if it took longer to grow inside the host. Not only would it protect the other eggs by letting the terrified host "escape" but letting the host leave the area would spread the alien species further away than what an hour would allow. If the chestburster took maybe a month to grow inside it's host the alien species would expand through the universe further than before.

Mostly in comparison we see the difference. Containment was really, really nice. Specimen was interesting in some ways. This movie is ok, watchable. I would like to thank the authors

Been seeing a lot of comments on here indicating that these fan mades are better than studio led ones. It’s because while the studio thinks they know what the fans want, the fans themselves KNOW what they want..

I'm sick of every planet in every 'Alien' related story being set on LV-This or LV-that. Change it up a little for goodness sake. It made sense in the first two movies because they were set on the same planet and it makes sense in 'Prometheus' because LV-223 was a neighbouring planet. Aside from such specific examples, it just reeks of fan wankery and a lack of original thought on the part of the storytellers.
For just once, could we not have a story set on, say, VN-1064? Change it up a little, for pity sake! Say what you might about 'Alien 3' but at least they had that story set on Fiorina "Fury" 161 and not LV-161.

I love that they made these shorts. Please make a netflix series too! If they do not hbo should wise up and make that happen ASAP. It seems to me like there is both a xenomorph and a predator (Yautja) noise at the end of this short. I like that this story seemed realistic with the only exception being that the man was such a terrible shot/scrambled to the floor. I enjoyed the other shorts more (the dog one is my favorite). It seems like this one had a tighter budget then the other shorts so props on the great chest burster scene.
