Junior just never really recovered after that 2nd fight with cain, he was slower, more hesitant, and got exposed that he didnt handle forward pressure very smartly and he NEVER fixed that gap
Agreed. Before this he was generally the one coming forward and backing up his opponents. After that beating he took in the 2nd fight with Velasquez, he turned into this totally different fighter who would constantly put his back against the cage and try and counter. He won some fights against top opponents after this, but that style never worked as well for him as when he was the one walking down his opponents. I remember thinking he got lucky against Werdum, but then watching him just blitz Stephan Struve in under a minute and realizing that he was not only super fast for a HW, but accurate and ruthless.
