When he was doing the stream with pak and it was clear that nothing really works against yubel if you don't do something different like he did at worlds it really makes sense that he also cooked up lab for the ycs. It's literally the anti-yubel lab deck from MD but made for the tcg. And now that tenpai also comes to MD i think lab will be a good anti meta call if you build it accordingly.
Something you should've considered if you were going to go all-in on a low-search engine build of Lab was a single copy of Labrynth Barrage in case you needed to surprise someone with a second activation of a HOPT card. Because lets be honest: no one would've saw that coming. I personally don't play the funni cannon (i'm a Dogmatika head, so I run ED dump targets with GY effects). Punishment is an incredibly strong card in Labrynth, and even if it might be an Ash target, you could always just run 1 Ecclesia and some copies of Nadir to ensure you get ED dumps to reduce the chances of getting negated by other hand traps like Veiler or Imperm before you get your ED dump. Plus it helps you thin your main deck before you resolve cards like Duality or Demise. (I would've maybe swapped out a Duality for a Prosperity if i'm not playing the math card) The only additional cards you would've had to worry about in the Dogmatika Package build would've been cards like Called By or Droll, but given how slow and grindy the Labrynth deck is, it wouldn't really impact you that heavily unless you just happened to draw multiple copies of Nadir. I would've probably ran 1 Ecclesia, 2 Nadir, 2 Punishment, and had a link target like Artemis to make off of Ecclesia so you could get her from the field and into the GY in the event you opened your 1 Ecclesia and a Nadir. In that situation, you just wouldn't fire off Ecclesia's search effect so that you aren't locked out of the ED until you fire off Nadir. It would require proper sequencing, but it could totally work. Arias is also really good obviously, but main decking her would've ruined the surprise factor. I would've sided her in going second, resolving D Barrier on turn 0 sounds absolutely hilarious.
Such a cool deck. Lord is such a slept on card. Agreed on compulse but yeah theres not a lot of other cards except for like Torrential Tribute which unfortunately isnt as good as it used to be as well
Nice deck, but Lord in the main would be better in most game 1 cases and also allow you to reduce the Lady ratio in your deck from 3 to 2 (which would be better). You should also consider running draco-utopian aura in the main in place of compulsory because that is 2-3 more copies of solemn strike which makes your going second even better for dealing with Omni negates.

Firstly, is it even worth playing? He's not even playing imperm. Impulse does nothing to help you break a board... and a common theme with his card choices is they are either blowouts (sphere mode, daruma, cannon) or they help you resolve the blowouts by forcing or stopping the negate. Impulse does neither so I would be surprised if he played it at all.

Also your friendly local card shop may or may not use the same kinda price breakdown for their cards, but if anything a loooot of these cards will likely be cheaper because you might find them in a bin of common cards.) Main Deck: ~ 88.80 USD (ish, with some variance, a lot of these traps are staples, depending on where you get them they might be more or less and obvs if you're a baller you could double this price to pick up QCR Ladys who are 10x more expensive than the standard rarity) Extra Deck: I'm not calculating this, you could play anything but the Runic Fusions are probably required and they're not that pricy seemingly. You could get 1 of each for approx $10. Side Deck: ~166.5 (but 150 of that approx depending on the time that you look it up is the Mulcharmys.) Even with that, an 8-3 swiss deck for ~300ish (probably less tbh but you could put whatever you want in the extra deck), and for less than $150 or realistically lower since you may already have many of the common staples like Duality Solemn Lava Golem or D-Barrier. Like, *I* could build this deck and the only thing I would need to buy is the Labrynth Cards, the Sphere Modes and Heavenlys, and I think the evenly matcheds because I haven't played for a long time and I have zero.
Hey Josh idk if you considered it or not but did you try Lilith, Lady of Lamat for trap lab, it's basically Arianna but it dodges all the hand traps (it tributes it self on quick effect for cost to set any 3 of trap card) but conflicts for the normal.
@@ayham613I dont agree its duality, most of your traps are 3ofs so lilith automatically resolves and it only conflicts with sphere mode so 2 lilith could be ok, but yeah it would require some testing

Cause that kind of wishing on La Jinn's lamp is gonna get you a "pay 1400 for each target, banish that many spell/traps on your opponent's field." card that puts you down to 1k LP turn 2.
The sheer fact that they can interact with it turn 3 will make setting trap absolute horrible since it already depends heavily on the meta. This meta simply choosed negation instead of poping/banishing interaction in the end board, in the Ryzeal/Malice meta or SE-FireKing matchup setting 5 can be punished very hard
Curious on the decision to not play Arias. Did you feel the difference between going 2nd, setting the traps, and passing back and going 2nd but using Arias to cannon or equation them during their turn to not be consequential? Maybe the Compulses can just be Ariases?
I think Arias is way too neggy. It's -2 for using one trap, which in this format many decks can push through even if used optimally just because of the crazy extension available. I feel like the idea here is "let them cook" and out advantage eventually, which arias doesn't really help with
Arias is also bad going 2nd into Yubel since they Phantom very early. And Arias is definitely getting negated by Phantom. And going 1st it does nothing in this deck.

Why did you decide against the dogmatika punishment? It looked pretty crazy with garura and n'tess in that one MD worlds game. Or one or the other paleozoic, wouldnt they have fit to your deck?
He wanted as few Hand Trap targets as possible, and relying on a Punishment, which could get Ash Blossomed, was not part of that goal. the entire Extra deck was dedicated to not being LIGHT or DARK to avoid feeding enemy Bystials. Aside from the obligatory Runic cards. Everything else was to get a WATER, WIND, FIRE, or EARTH extra deck target.
Josh talked about the Extra Deck monsters not wanting to be light/darks, but how would they ever hit the gy as he's not playing i.e Ultimate Slayer. Same goes for the fact that he won't be able to resolve the gy eff of Fossil Warrior or is he specifically talking about his Opponent somehow extradeck looping him.
It's exactly that. Dogmatika wasn't technically a consideration, but if a 'free' slot can give you a 5% winrate against a 0.5% matchup, you take it instead of a card that goes 0% for 100% of matchups.

Why does gy effs and light dark for bystials matter if cannon banishes ur extra deck cards, not sends them in gy
Branded Regained activates when a Light or Dark monster gets banished, and decks that use Bystials always have that card.

Why did you decide against the dogmatika punishment? It looked pretty crazy with garura and n'tess in that one MD worlds game. Or one or the other paleozoic, wouldnt they have fit to your deck?
He wanted as few Hand Trap targets as possible, and relying on a Punishment, which could get Ash Blossomed, was not part of that goal.
the entire Extra deck was dedicated to not being LIGHT or DARK to avoid feeding enemy Bystials. Aside from the obligatory Runic cards.
Everything else was to get a WATER, WIND, FIRE, or EARTH extra deck target.

- 1 fusion for levels 1-7 => 7 cards

Josh talked about the Extra Deck monsters not wanting to be light/darks, but how would they ever hit the gy as he's not playing i.e Ultimate Slayer. Same goes for the fact that he won't be able to resolve the gy eff of Fossil Warrior or is he specifically talking about his Opponent somehow extradeck looping him.
It's exactly that. Dogmatika wasn't technically a consideration, but if a 'free' slot can give you a 5% winrate against a 0.5% matchup, you take it instead of a card that goes 0% for 100% of matchups.
