Tony, excellent history and production of Wilkes-barre! Great camera work too! You mentioned Zebulon Butler! I am a direct-blood descendent of a Capt. Samuel Ransom who served under Zebulon Butler. My 6th great grandfather, Captain Samuel Ransom lost his life fighting the British and their Iroquois / Mohawk allies. Samuel was originally a peaceful land surveyor who was part of the Susquehanna Company commissioned by King Charles I of Britain. Ironically Connecticut had a claim to the Wilkes-barre / Wyoming Vally area as Samuel served in a Connecticut regiment and is buried at the Battle of Wyoming Valley monument/battlefield. I am also related to the Steeles, a Scots-Irish family who settled in Wilkes-barre. The Steele family ran the main ferry service between Wilkes-bare and Kingston, PA.

Very nice job! Between the historical perspective and the beautiful filming, this should prove to be a really great series. Keep up the good work!

The history of our two main libraries-the HOYT and OSTERHOUT-especially how they bounced back after flood(s). would be a good project. this video is great!

Why did he lose almost all of his money and how did he save it?

Stegmaier lost his business and house after the Panic of 1873. According to Robert Janosov's book on Stegmaier, he went back into business with his sons and "somehow managed." Not the greatest answer, but hey did it and bounced back. I think it amazing how Charles immigrated from Germany with nothing, started a business, lost the everything, started back up and left $4 million to his children.
