Remember, in the Sidescrollers Interview, how Phil told Keemstar that his opinion of him was based on a video about him, one that had mostly negative things with some positive things sprinkled in? My guess is that, since Phil believes anything that has two sides to things (even if one side is *much* bigger than the other) is the truth, Phil could’ve thought “If my documentary is mostly positive, and only _slightly_ negative, everyone will believe the positive stuff about me!”

He wanted the documentary to do what he thought the Sidescrollers interview would do which is improve his reputation, but that’s not how a documentary works. The point of a documentary is to DOCUMENT someone’s live, whether it be good or bad, and the state of your reputation is left to the court of public opinion. It’s not everyone else’s fault that 95% of what he does is negative.
I guess he couldn't even be bothered to keep up appearances for a few weeks to film the documentary.
ACKSHULLY most documentaries start with a script/narrative and then find and edit footage to fit that narrative. it would be nice if most documentaries neutrally observed the subjects and just told their story, but that's rarely the case.

Nobody needs an interview with Phil. He gives his side of the story every day, twice a day. Maybe Mike got some good behind the scenes footage he can use. He should have had a binding contract. There was no way the project could go through all the months of work necessary to make a documentary without Phil pulling out. There was simply no way. He wants a very minutely specific and FALSE narrative to reach a wide audience. The moment any of his bad features were displayed or even hinted at, the rug would be pulled. The best part is, you can tell Mike knew this. When speaking about Phil in interviews he only used the most positive, glazing terminology possible because he knew how delicate this was. Many years ago i came in contect with the dsp space i had fun watching this 40 year old guy being toxic and begging but i thought i couldnt be that bad so i went to his stream i couldnt type in chat ref flag 1 he spent 5 minutes in silence red flag 2 and them the first thing he said after the silence he begged for tips and i left that stream shocked that everthing i saw was true it was that bad.
