Hey great vid! Now im definitely gonna check this place out for an overnight backpacking trip since im from Chicago, its just right there in the corner! Great place!
I’ve never done backpacking but I’ve been wanting to do a 1-2 day overnight camp! I’ve been doing a lot of research, learning bushcraft and all that. I’m buying some equipment little at a time so next summer I can do it! I didn’t know where to go so I just began to research places and I think this is gonna be the first place I got to. I’m only three and a half hrs away so it’ll be worth it!
Glad I saw this video because now I know to definitely bring my trekking poles for those hills and stream crossings! I live in Chicago and am planning to do this loop around Labor Day for my first solo overnight.
Hiked that trail a few years back as a long day hike. Really nice place, agree that it can be a little confusing even with the map. I don’t remember the stream crossings but it has been a few years... I do remember those hill climbs though!
I recently discovered your channel. Thanks for the videos. I also live in the Chicago area (west suburbs) and am struggling to find backpacking locations! I just got back from an AT section hike in VA for God's sake! Anyway, this might be my next one. Closer to home.
@@DanGoesHiking he had to buy a used car to drive back today. He got sick the 3rd morning there. Had to have someone pick us up . Backpacking adventure we had . Crazy true story.
I used to live in the suburbs of Chicago and loved hiking around various forest preserves. That looks like a really nice time 👍

You'll love it!
Just discovered Forest Glen yesterday. Nice little place to chase away cabin fever. And, it's got hills! haha

You'll love it! One of my favorite Chicago area trips.
I'll be hiking this trail next week- can't wait. Should have some nice fall color!
Enjoy! Great time of year for Forest Glen.

Love those post trail meals.
The best part of backpacking!
I'll be going there in 2 weeks. Curious on where the pancake and sausage breakfast was at?
I can't remember! Although I at least recall you wouldn't be missing much...
Did the drops work? 😂
Looks like a good hike and not too far from Ohio
Is this trail well marked?
Yes, it's very well blazed.
Spent three nights there, buddies car broke down 35mins away, from a 3 hr drive. Luckly we over packed food. 17$ a night to camp.
How disappointing!

I am watching this to live vicariously. I had to cancel an overnite here just before this crap popped up.
I snuck in another one at Forest Glen in early February before this stuff got bad. Hope you (and all of us) get to head back to the trail soon.
