Great narration! Excellent video representation of trail. I've completed Knobstone and AHT -- now researching Tecumseh for my Indiana triple crown. Very excited about these primo shelters! Thank you for documenting and sharing your experience.
Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it. The Tecumseh should be a breeze after the Knobstone, especially with those camping castle shelters. Have a great hike!
Nice UK beanie Samuel !, what a nice hike and natural beauty you guys got to share together. Damp feet are your enemy, when taking a break swap Socks and tie the other pair to your backpack to dry. White cotton, never dark or nylon blend
Another amazing narrated video. They are the best hiking content on TH-cam! Loved it from beginning to end! Including the bloopers. Lol :-) Looking forward to watching your next hiking trip!
Thank you so much. It means a lot to know that you're enjoying the videos. Even the bloopers, haha. I just got back from a weekend in the Smokies, and I think it's going to make for a good video. Thanks again!
Thanks man! I'm glad you enjoyed it! Samuel gave me a lot of blooper material for this one. I might have to return the favor this weekend, haha. Looking forward to the Smokies and hearing about your JMT hike!
What another amazing edition of BTC you have created, Chad! I really enjoyed this episode- that thru hike feels like eons ago so it was really nice getting to relive it again and remember nuances I have forgotten through your footage. Hope you don’t mind, but I jotted some stuff down to make sure and let you what know I particularly enjoyed: - 1:30 the time lapse of the morning winter/spring sky was gorgeous. - 3:20 loved your comment about the fiddle heads “shaking off the final wintry assault”- super cool. - I know you said you don’t think your phone captures audio well, but I sure think it does! I noticed the clarity particularly at 3:56 with all the falling snow in the rock shelter- almost sounded like chimes. - I’m glad you caught the “war” at 6:22- that was such a wild moment. - 7:28 I appreciate your bravery in showcasing the blisters to everyone! They were well deserved. - 9:33 again, very timely to get the camera out to film the last sleet we got at Fox Den. You have a knack for getting timely shots in the moment. - 11:05 you caught the owls on audio! Nice!!! - 12:56 I see you with the sneaky reroute shot 😎😉. - 16:24 your “autumn in reverse” comment is very cool. - 16:00 love the music selection here. - 18:28 I love the shot of your potential future new tent glowing in the evening sunlight 😉 - 18:36 very artistic shot of your drink mix dissolving. Pictures like that fuel my inner chemist 👨🔬 haha - 19:41 Sooo glad you caught the chair antics on camera! 😂I’m bringing that again on the Smokies trip, and I sure hope it fares better. It was a funny first use! - 20:16 I appreciate your transparency in sharing that childhood memory the trail reminded you of. That was a neat addition to the narrative you painted. - 21:22 I really appreciate your courage in filming a “waking up” shot from the tent. I’ve always wanted to try it, but never have mustered the courage to because of being too self-conscious. This makes me want to try it! - The last music choice of getting close to the end was so epic sounding, and the downbeat to the transition of the “end of the trail” at 28:05 was nicely done. - 29:44 thanks for including my channel’s intro song and for the shoutouts! Means a lot. Again, your craft continues to excel with each new episode. I can’t wait for the next adventure, especially the Smokies!! Great work, brother!
I know we already talked about some of this, but I wanted to give you the official TH-cam thank you and response! As always, I appreciate you taking the time to give me a detailed response. It helps me appreciate my own work a little more, which is a good feeling after I become so sick of looking at the footage that I can't tell whether the finished product is any good, haha. - I tried to include as much of the "war" as possible. I was surprised to find I got as much as I did, considering our Russian hacker problem. - I had to go back and listen to the snow falling at the rock shelter. It does sound really neat! - I know I'm opening myself up to criticism for the blisters, but they were such a big part of the trip that I felt I had to include them. "Follow your blisters!" - The owls were crazy that night! - I don't know what you're talking about with the reroute 😉😉 - I plagiarized the "autumn in reverse" comment from my own blog post from several years ago 😁 - That shot of the tent in the sunlight probably helped make my decision to buy it! - Thanks for letting me steal your idea for the shot with the drink mix. It's one of my favorites in this video. - I'm glad you enjoyed the bit about the childhood memory. One of the things I like about my Dolly Sods video is that I included more personal thoughts. I tried to do that again. - I'm looking forward to seeing your waking up shot from the Smokies! - I've been waiting to use that epic ending music for a while, haha. This seemed like as good a time as any. - You're welcome for the shoutouts and the music! I knew I wanted to include your "theme song" at some point, but I couldn't find a spot for it until the end. Thanks again for joining me and helping me through my first thru-hike. Can't wait to start digging into our Smokies footage!
Thanks for watching and for the kind words! I'm trying to make the type of videos I like to watch, so it's good to know that someone else likes them too. Take care!
There is technically a closure. However, there is nothing physically blocking the route. From what I understand, many hikers are simply ignoring the closure. I'll let you interpret that as you will...
I feel your pain. I had the same problem with the Altra Timp. I liked my Topo Terraventures too, but unfortunately they fell apart on this trip, haha. (Partly because I accidentally burned a hole in them...)
flipping awesome cinematography, narration, and music score...a perfect trifecta!
Thanks Mike! I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Thank you! It was a great hike, but damp feet were certainly my enemy this time. None of my usual tricks were working. I appreciate the tips!

@@chickadee4566 I hope you get a chance to go! I'm really looking forward to sharing what we saw. It was a special trip.
Found you on Crow's FB page. Subbed! Excellent video! My buddy is an Indiana boy (Hoot on the Trail).
Thanks! I appreciate it! I find myself spending a lot of time in Indiana. It has some great trails. I'll check out Hoot's channel too.
"Blooperrrr!" 🤣 Another wonderful video my friend! Can't wait for our adventure in the Smokies and story telling at camp!

I thought that there is a closure on this trail. how did you work around it?
There is technically a closure. However, there is nothing physically blocking the route. From what I understand, many hikers are simply ignoring the closure. I'll let you interpret that as you will...
topo Terradenture 2s! Those have been my favorite shoe but i can't find them now. the new ones arent the same.

@@beyondthecampfire they fell apart on me as well. I tried the 3s but I feel like they don’t drain and dry as quick. Using some altras now.
