Wow, it is really something when you find a type of bullet for the first time. I will now look up the rifle as it sounds British, we have a Whitworth thread on bolts. Awesome adventure sir.
I was right, and as you said a Sharpshooter rifle. The round is distinctive because it is hexagonal and fits into a hexagonal bore! The Whitworth rifle was an English-made percussion rifle used in the latter half of the 19th century. A single-shot muzzleloader with excellent long-range accuracy for its era, especially when used with a telescopic sight, the Whitworth rifle was widely regarded as the world's first sniper rifle. Effective firing range: 800 to 1,000 yd (730 to 910 m) Maximum firing range: 1,500 yd (1,400 m)
It's amazing how after all the years with people looking for relics you can still find so much. I'm guessing people will still be having great days like this a hundred years from now right in the same place. Thanks for the vid!
You're especially upbeat in this video and I love it. It puts a little smile on my face to see a happy chigg in his natural environment, seeing someone do the thing that brings them the most joy is infectious.
After 14:00 he picks up the rock and a crawdad gets the hell out of there, lol! Those big nippers, I do believe, are a farrier's tool for trimming horse hooves.
I love the sound of the snorkel filling with water - brings back great childhood memories of diving for old bottles at the bottom of the lake. Nice haul in this video. Always a pleasure to watch.
Wow chigg, what another awesome day civil war relic hunting in the water. An once again off in the distance you can here the thunder storms headed your way. When your finding the goods it never fails, they always seem to cut it short. Great video chigg. Congrats on all of your finds today. Maybe tomorrow you can go back an continue collecting all the civil war relics thats just waiting for you to find. Have a great weekend an we will catch you on your next adventure. 😁👍👍
I am not a fan of finding civil war relics, but I am a fan of these vids! I love your river treasure hunting videos, even if you are mostly just finding the CW relics. Something about the water is so appealing, maybe because it reminds me of the times in my youth that were so fun. I would have lived in the water if I could have! ✌🏼❤️
Nice day on the river, great first lead bullet finds. The last find ... black smith tongs for melting lead ? Thanks for taking us along and holding our breath ... LOL
When your out Chiggyakking, and I don’t mean talking, I know it’s going to be a great adventure. I super enjoyed the video. Much respect and thank you.
And quick quick, any developments on the county board of supposed law abiding and adhering commissioners with ye legal and rightful issue? Do let us know. The absolute beauty of our system, allows us the ability to remove these corrupt (expletive removed; think knee pads and hotdogs), without violence or any sort of self defeating batshit bullshit. Votes. The system works. It's a genius, wonderful fair system, that still works (if everyone involved can remain honest. Not so sure that's a thing anymore). Keep us in the know.
You are so lucky to live where you do to find civil war relics. I live up in northern MN so nothing up here like that... You were the very first metal detector video I ever watched , a fan for many years !
I recently saw two really cool solid shot for 20 pounder Parrott rifles, that were dug near Atlanta. The vast bulk of the 20 pounders ended up with Sherman's army in the Atlanta campaign and March to the Sea because they could serve as light siege guns. Later this year when I visit Shiloh I will be looking to see what rifled guns they have in the park. 👍😊
Happy Chig, happy Army of viewers ! It's contagious!that is an astonishing haul! I found the hand forged tool particularly interesting! It looks like something from a village blacksmith.
My name is Peggy Whitworth Evans. My maiden name is Whitworth. My father used to tell me that we had ancestors who were involved with manufacturing guns and specifically invented a powder that would shoot farther.
It's just not fair, Chig - I mean, how can one man find so much stuff? Incredible! How many others watching Chig's videos sometimes see an object that he appears to ignore, even though we may think WE see a shape that looks just like a bullet or spear point, etc. - often, I've wanted to shout, "Chig, look left, right, in the cleft of the rock, etc."
Ohhh nice sharpshooter and small caliber miniball!! Love the clear water creek and river detecting. Actually, I'm going tomorrow and this video has me stoked!!!
10:16 don't know whether to be happy or sad. Watching Chig grab a Civil War lead bullet while skipping right by a gold picker. O well, still love the content.
Another day searching the river for relics! I hope you enjoy the video.
Hope we learn what caliber them shots were!

Thanks 👍
Could that last tool been a bullet mold?
That pincer-looking tool looks like either a hoof trimmer or a blacksmith tool to hold hot stuff to pound on after its been heated in the forge.
Shoe pullers
Agree Hoof trimmer.👍✌️
I would say its a hoof trimmer
Great hunt Chigg , some awesome finds. I believe the tongs you found may be hoof-nippers. Thanks for sharing. 👍
Vintage style adventure. This type of adventure is why I got hooked.
Agreed!
It's amazing how after all the years with people looking for relics you can still find so much. I'm guessing people will still be having great days like this a hundred years from now right in the same place. Thanks for the vid!
He's like Captain Kirk
He goes where no man has gone before
You have me well trained , every time you go under I hold my breath without being told ! 😁

Casper here - my great great grandfather was a blacksmith - we had many of his old tools - those look like horseshoe tongs
so....could be cw period
The tool with the long handles is a horse hoof nipper used to cut excess hoof off when shoeing a horse. Could be civil war if they are hand forged.
I was going to add this very same comment. I agree that it could be civil war since it was hand forged. Awesome to hang with the old horseshoes

What an AWESOME HUNT!!
So much to still be found out there .
Didn't one Whitworth rifle have a hexagonal bore? I think I remember seeing a video about them. They were super accurate.
Yes they do. I have one. They can shoot round shaped bullets too.
It's Fun To Get a Good One From Time To Time Just Help's The Day Go By.🤗
Awesome hunt Chigg! What some great relics!
That hand forged tool was either for blacksmithing or nippers used with shoeing horses.......some great finds there Chigg :)

Was just at Shiloh the first time earlier this year. They have a lot of Wiard guns, which is different. Neat place.
@@SearTrip Wow! There were only 50 2.6 inch Wiard rifles made, if I remember....
I am looking forward to Shiloh! Haven't been there before.👍😊
Tool is a pair of hoof nippers used by a farrier. Good hunt!
That last tool almost looks like it could be a farriers hoof trimmer, civil war era?
The last tool you found was a horse hoof nipper. It was used to trim the hooves of live stock for shoeing.
That was some awesome hunting!
That place was packed!
Happy Chig, happy Army of viewers ! It's contagious!that is an astonishing haul! I found the hand forged tool particularly interesting! It looks like something from a village blacksmith.

Toilet seat/cover fastener? You had a great day . I would be freaking out if I hit this target rich environment!
It's just not fair, Chig - I mean, how can one man find so much stuff? Incredible! I think he does a ton of research to find lesser known skirmish sites.
Ohhh nice sharpshooter and small caliber miniball!! Love the clear water creek and river detecting. Actually, I'm going tomorrow and this video has me stoked!!!
Hey Chigg those plier looking things are for cutting horse hooves back and trimming feet back great video
Beautiful Whitworth. I have been fortunate to dig 2 so far but were shot. Yours looks like a drop.

Nice haul Chig.
civil war relics are cool
GREAT HUNT! Wish you had done a wrap up with special attention to the rare bullets!
Do you ever find fossils in the rivers like Mastodon teeth or giant sloth claws ?
Wow ! Fantastic hunt, Beau! Hey, that last tool you found looks like it'd be for trimming hooves.
that last tool you pulled out reminds me of something used to clip the hooves of cows and probably horses.
10:16 don't know whether to be happy or sad. Watching Chig grab a Civil War lead bullet while skipping right by a gold picker. O well, still love the content.
Awesome hunt Chig, this is the stuff we love from you!!
Freaking Awesome!!!
