Thanks for the bass pedal tip regarding the use of my toes and front ball of my foot! Been out of the game for a while as far as drumming goes and I’ve been killing my ankle trying to do it flat-footed without my chops at 100%. 😅🥴 Your style of teaching really helps. Slow it down and break the song into pieces. Cheers!
My school band is doing a Christmas gig soon so please can you do a tutorial for 12 days of Christmas by relient K It's a rock version of 12 days of Christmas
Hey man.. just found your channel while i was searching for drum videos to break down "are you mine - arctic monkeys"... I figured i'd comment on your most recent video (which is also great!) so hopefully you see this comment. I need you to know that I LOVE the way you break these songs down.. having the music written out and playing the bits slower and then at tempo and breaking them out individually as opposed to going through the whole song at once is a really unique and EXTREMELY useful tool for me and any drummer who knows how to play but wants to learn a song quickly! Your channel is just fucking great! thank you! would love to see your channel get as huge as it deserves to be... Also checked out your band and love it as well.. and your playing is extremely tasteful and supporting the song which is the most important fucking thing a drummer can do. Well done all around. Thanks again. Cheers.
@@LearnSomeDrums so glad it did... you deserve it.. I know how much work it takes to put these together and I super appreciate all of it. have you thought about a patreon account or other ways of monetizing? I would certainly support your efforts and I bet others would too.
Awesome lesson! Could you try something from my chemical romance? Since they're getting together again? Some rage against the machine would be appreciated too!
Brilliant lesson! Do you find the higher seat position is helpful in maintaining balance when playing a lot of bass drum and hi-hat together? I always struggle with this. Thanks.
I usually try to set up my seat so my hips are a little higher than my knees, and my ankles are a little further out than my knees (an obtuse angle if you like). I remember reading that that setup minimises lower back pain or injuries. Then for pedal stability just make sure you’re sitting right on top of your throne and keeping a good, stable centre of gravity - that should free you up to go crazy on kick and hi hats!
amazing lesson, I consider myself a intermediate to advanced drummer and can usually learn just about anything, however the triplet bass drum pattern just kills me. I have never been able to do it and I refuse to fake it with double bass pedal. Anyway great job and I guess I will continue beating my head against the wall trying to be able to play this song before I die......
It sounds like you and I are at similar levels of playing. I finally learned how to play those fast doubles using the heel toe technique. It's not hard it just takes a lot of practice. I learned it by watching the Drumeo videos on heel toe. The key is to always start the double with the beater on the drum with your heel up then drop your heel which makes the first stroke (not from your heel but you have to drop your heel to make the motion for the second stroke) then just use your toes/pad of your foot to make the second stroke from the rebound. It shouldn't matter what type of shoes you are wearing but it def makes it easier to learn using running shoes that have the curve in the front of the sole.
I'm not sure if you realize the cowbell pattern you are playing during the verses is not correct. He plays some 16th notes to spice it up. You have to listen closely but def not straight 8th notes on cowbell. Still a good tutorial. Thanks.
What is the tension on your pedal? I always have trouble playing those three notes on the bass drum, (NOT the triplet between the bell and the bass drum).
I prefer high tension - not quite maxed out but 85% or so. Sometimes (and not necessarily in your case) what feels like a speed issue is actually a coordination issue. Slow it right back and make sure you can get all the notes cleanly before you speed it back up. 🥁🥁
Hardest part of this song for me is getting my left foot to just crank out quarter notes. No idea why but I guess never really using my left foot for anything outside of barks or double bass stuff is hurting me now
which recordings are you listening to that you hear the messed up cowbell beat in the intro? I've just listened to a bunch of different ones and the cowbell is clearly the same in both bars
Can you provide your sheet music source for this? Do you sell it? Or are you referencing a particular version that's available? I've looked at a few that I could purchase online, but I like your notation better than anything I found.
Thats really easy to play and i'm like a proper beginner. Heres a link www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=tabs.ultimate-guitar.com/tab/gorillaz/feel-good-inc-drums-864792&ved=2ahUKEwjHovGh-pPpAhW6ThUIHcRAAhQQFjAAegQIAxAB&usg=AOvVaw0x2R4daLg76Y0Pt0XQXqiz
I had good times and bad times recording this one so it’s not the smoothest lesson, sorry. Especially around 7:55 but I hope it still makes sense!
Please do a tutorial for the Josh dun tear in my heart drum line
You always do a great job. Very much appreciated!

It’s such a good song for working on that kick drum foot! And sounds epic too 🤘
More zeppelin !!!!!!
Now here's An accurate rundown of John's parts in this song!!! Hat's off to you, mate!!!
Hi-hats
Love this song! How about ‘soul to squeeze’ by the Chili peppers next??
Didn't realise this was a new vid... what a classic song!
Fave drum teacher on TH-cam! 👍
Your kit sounds fabulous. I have a 64 Ringo kit. Same wrap. Smaller dimensions. Reinforced hoop make them sound huge! Great tutorial!
‘64? Wow! That’s awesome!
It’s such a nice drum sound to play with and always inspires me to play a bit differently which is fun.
Yay I can play the whole thing
As long as I always play it super slow
I like your lesson and the fact you have a visual drum tab. Thanks!
If I could like this a gazillion times I would 👌
Oh yeah baby we gotta new tutorial
Great job. The triplets sound terrific because they are displaced.......and he loved trying to match Jimmy guitar riffs . Lol
That's why I prefer him to a technically perfect drummer like NP.
Love all your work. Thank you.
Your kit sounds awesome. And great job. New sub here.

3:14 genius!
I personally like the bell of the ride yo teplace most of the cowbell
Really helpful, thank you!
Thanks much very helpful
you get what you give- new radicals
I like your cowbell setup. Is that a separate damper for the cowbell or did it come like that as 1 piece
It's called a ridge rider cowbell, sold by Latin Percussion. The dampener is attached in 1 piece. Good stuff!!!
Great lesson! Would you have the transcription available?
Awesome lesson! Could you try something from my chemical romance? Since they're getting together again? Some rage against the machine would be appreciated too!
Please do "Please Me" by Cardi B and Bruno Mars. Any song produced by Bruno always has interesting syncopation. Also, love the claps on this track.

I reckon you should do Shimmy by System Of A Down. It's quite a short but has got loads of tasty fills in it.

I write them up myself by ear and I don't sell them at this stage (I think it's a bit dodgy in terms of copyright)....
