    I have this tool& keep a strong magnet on hand to run alone your chalk line prior to cutting, saves hitting a screw, because the blades aren’t cheap

    To all the naysayers, its not for new rock installation. Its for cutting out old drywall. Sure beats scoring down a stud a dozen time with a knife.

    • @MDB-amandrinksbeer
      @MDB-amandrinksbeer 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Exactly! Also it's very handy for cutting out access panels in the ceilings, without the risk to cut cables or ruining jigsaw blade by running it in to metal.

      M B it’s the only plus I can see with this tool. Relatively dust free which is great if working in an occupied home. Otherwise. It’s pretty useless

    I've owned this saw for 5 years and probably used it 3 times. I always default to my multi tool and if I want dust extraction I cut with one hand and hold the vac with the other. Having said this I am a remodeling contractor and do plenty of old work applications.

    How would you compare this to the Kett Saw? We do a lot of drywall demolition. We do have kett saws but speed is typically a requirement, as is dust amount (in lived in units under site protection), and cost. we have 15 vans in the field doing precise demolition of drywall.

    Jig saw + drywall blade or wood blade (wood blades are cheaper) / 6 tpi blades. Extend your blade all the way out from the jigsaw base plate then cut the jigsaw blade to the exact thickness of the drywall that you are about to cut out. Cuts very fast, very low dust, and you dont have to worry about wires and pipes (if you measured and cut your blade correctly).

    Cutting drywall is all about speed and dust. I have been using a cordless makita 3 ⅜" circular saw to cut drywall. It is amazing, no
    airborn dust, and only cuts through the drywall by about a 1/16" so as to not hit wiring and plumbing. The only downside is hitting
    screws is hard on the blades, which run about $15 each, but will cut even with half the teeth missing. Still can't find a better, cleaner, safer way to cut drywall. Even use it for boarding, if a board is, say, ¼" too big, or notching.

    • @Maxkil
      @Maxkil  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Haha I always thought it would be too Dusty using a circular saw funny about that.

    • @donwurbadit

      Ivan Alexis I think this machine is designed for small repairwork and small cut out.The best part of the machine is it can cut through the plasterboard without cutting stud-or let's say your blade will not be held by the stud when you cut the fixed plasterboard along the ctr of a stud where you are going to put the new joint.

Never needed it to like that before. The little cut off tool they make is great for trim work. But when it comes to drywall there's not a set of hand tools that I can use that wouldn't blend Electric Tools shame. It's all about the knowledge of tools and how to use them. great idea for a weekend warrior and wants to play construction guy.

    I would have gone for this til I checked blade prices. You are looking at 22$ to 25$ for a 2 pack of blades. you can do the same cut with www.harborfreight.com/power-tools/oscillating-tools/oscillating-multi-tool-62279.html and only pay $19.00 . I would never pay 200$ for any tool that cuts drywall. If you can not cut drywall without a depth guide than you should not cut drywall at all.

      Yeah I would agree it would be slow to cut out sockets good for cutting out a couple of metres squared from the ceiling though.
      I can't wait to use it.
      A couple of years ago I was doing majority insurance work cutting out 1m2 from the ceiling, plasterer it, then go home come back next day sand and paint.
      if I had the same job now I swear I be able to get out of there in like 2 hours on the first day.

      How do you not comprehend the specific purpose of the tool. As he explained it is for repairs on installed board where snapping is not an option. Its sole purpose is to cut a very precise depth with very minimal dust and cut relatively straight. For ppl who need to do that kind of work I don't think there is anything better on the market.

      Actually nothing can cut a couple of meters of ceiling out as fast , as easy, with less dust and as accurate.
      Great for repairs.
      Not much use for new work though.

    Too costly, and you're basically wasting your time with this tool for drywalling. I wanna recommend a rotary tool with a strong bit. You'll get perfect cuts every time.
