I remember I got serato scratch live when it first came out, shout to turntable lab, the guy told me to get it over Stanton final scratch and I never looked back, I use to do parties and people would come up and ask how are you doing this with a laptop, love you serato happy 25th
@mojaxx Been watching you for a long time, I even got one of your “Playing TH-cam rips is not OK” shirts during Covid. That said, I just wanted to say I’m floored by your weight loss. Keep up the great work brother. 🤘
I was turned on to Serato Scratch Live while djing in NYC like 2005/6 to get off of CDs. Beautiful product, changed my life for sure and love it to this day. I’ve moved on, but fond memories. 😂
Serato Scratch Live could be considered a game changer in terms of adoption, thanks to the free format heavy North American market. Back in the days, Traktor Scratch, already on the market for many years, was considered the better system though. Partly thanks to their higher tone frequency. I remember watching Qbert videos about the comparison. Nowadays I wouldn't know, my exotic proprietary Tractor Scratch Pro cables haven't left my box full of left-over audio cables for ages.
Question, in the Pioneer DJM S11 version I no longer have the option to record directly into Ableton as I did with Serato Scratch Live directly and separated by channels in Ableton with all the fader and cross fader cuts, that is, I want to record from Serato in Ableton Live, each channel separately with its respective cuts? Scratch Live had this option to be able to record directly in multichannel. I find it incredible that these new devices do not have this record in ALS option. Or maybe I do have it and I haven't found it, but I don't think so.
Still rocking SL1 with scratch live in 2024 as purely vinyl dj does the job for me more than adequately, never had the same fun with cdj nor console tbh...
I started with the Rane 68 mixer with Serato Before that Vinyl and cds.I liked it because it was reliable as long as you looked after your computer. Also it was about as close to a regular vinyl set as you could get but with the digital tech. You can still make it as simple or as complex as you want and for me it has the best sound. The only gripe is that it is heavy on the cpu especially when mixing video so you have to a decent computer
Still have my SL3 with an old laptop and an old rock solid stable version of Serato and works fine... will always work. Even use the SL3 as an audio interface in a pinch to record sets hooked to a newer computer. But gotta say the Reloop Flux has been the game changer for me. Better then the SL3 too! So many clubs and bars still have old or random gear and I can Serato it up anywhere! Thanks Reloop!
Just to be fair… NI did also released new scratch DVS Traktor vinyl this year. Also they have released limited edition DVS in collaboration with artists. 👍🏼
@@DjEnvee1 wasn't ment offensife - it was a question as the video stated ssl was the first dvs system and i am just interested in the topic of history reguarding the tools i am using
Yes, but it didn’t go as mainstream. I think that’s what Mojaxx was getting at. I remember FS had issues, like others. I started early with Mix Vibes DVS, bcs it was the cheapest of the DVS systems
It 100% was, but it required far more CPU and RAM to run vs Serato. At the time the average Dj laptop was pretty cheap and not super fast, so Serato was an easy choice. This really parted the two products and Traktor never fully recovered - despite having a much better feature set and creative options. The extra bits are less intriguing if you are mostly concerned about scratching or mixed format sets, but for the warehouse Crowd they absolutely put Traktor above Serato. Still, Traktor never caught up. It’s a huge miss, IMHO, for NI. Even today, Traktor lags significantly behind & has some pretty awesome features. NI also released STEMS first, albeit in a way that wasn’t easily adopted. Again… cool idea, ahead of their time, missed the market.
