I am an Engineer and my wife is an Architect, I have built tons of roofs exactly as you have done.. There really is not a problem with condensation in these buildings anyway because there is hardly any moisture, bearing in mind the lack of bathrooms and cooking going on. with the doors closed. It is nothing like a house situation, where you have the possibility of moisture condensing in the middle of the roof construction and causing dry rot. If you really wanted to prevent moisture getting into the roof void (not that I would bother) is to use a moisture barrier or even foil backed plasterboard.

Having watched your videos for a while now i was hoping to start my build this year but the deck I'm currently doing has taken longer than anticipated. I'm nearly there with it but its not left me enough time to get the outhouse done. Can't wait until next spring to get started on the outhouse though and will be buying one of your packs for sure. Great videos and great work you're doing. Ignore the haters. Lots of jealous folk out there!
Your last vid with soffits and facias came in handy when I came to putting mine up only thing I did diffent was use 100mm slices of soffit for the sides so it follows the pattern of the front boards and no need for the h trim but copied everything else you did. Cheers

Quick question - how do you seal the inside edge of the soffit board against the side of the building? I have a leak inside my house, and I believe it's due to rain being blown up/under the soffit during very windy conditions.

If it was mine and budget was an issue, then yes, but I’d timber clad the internal roof as plaster will crack as the roof sags a bit, if it’s a paying customer, I’d be doubling up the 5x2’s
Not very clued up on roofing my friend put my roof up for me on a concrete shed I built my roof is a tin roof so the front overhang is tin only need to cover the timbers across the front would inuse facia board or soffit for this I would send you a pic on here if I could just for your advice
The 2.5m rule is simple and any architect should know this backwards (I am not an architect, but I can read and have read the .gov fact sheet and related legislation ahead of my own build). A garden room will come under Class E permitted development: must be behind the main dwelling from the main access highway within 2m of a boundary? - no greater than 2.5m overall height, measured from the highest point of land adjacent to he build (regardless of the hight from the lower points... over 2m from the boundary? - no greater than 4m overall heigh but must have eaves or a sloping roof down to no higher than 2.5m towards the boundary (highest point on the land rule applies again)

I'm pretty sure as well that if you are within that 2m of the boundary and your building is over 15sqm it must be constructed from non-combustible materials.
@@ks-hg5vo which spent include wood of any kind right? Unless is treated with a fire retardant. This means that when building rear wall in advance it should be treated with the fire retardant in advance as it's not accessible.
Pollytops aren't used on soffit... shouldn't be able to see a single fixing point on any soffit, the facia 'yes' ... I'm not criticising the guy or your opinion but pvc should be seamless on the surrounds... just saying..

not sure what you mean, we overhang the roof so we can sit a 100mm piece straight on and it won't require trimming. cedar sits up to this and you can see around 50mm of soffit from below on the sides and back if that makes sense

The amount of people on here that thinks this is a good job 😂😂😂😂😂. The ribbed hollow soffit board has a lip for you to screw into. No need for horrible 65mm pins. And u level the front of the soffit so the fascia sits up nice and level to allow easy levelling for the gutter. And double pin the fascia not single pin 😂😂😂
Hi mate. Quick question. Did you have to trim off the top edge of the fascia board to accommodate the fall on the joists? So the fascia stays flush with the roofline.. i'm doing a DIY job and using your vid for help.

So can you not use some earth to make a mound next to the garden building in an area you wouldnt walk creating a high point to measure from?

If you used 125mm roof timbers but 150mm fascia, how come there isn't a gap between the soffit board and front edge of the fascia board?
