But because of Covid-19 one never knows wheter or not the performance will be cancelled. I am surprised at the many favorable comments. I find the voice unattractive, intonation shaky and the voice has no center core that supports her. There is a Puritani available on YT. Callas may have had her faults but her recording (both the Angel and the Cetra) are object lessons on how this music should be sung.
@Robert Lee, Countertenor You are 100% correct. I cannot listen to modern singing any longer and have made a pledge to not comment as very few really know what they are listening to or even know how to listen and feel like I have to post my CV to prove that I am a professional musician and do know what I am talking about, albeit in a harsh manner. When I left conservatory I won a position in a German opera orchestra and lasted for about 10 years before I had to quit because it was terrible listening to such dreadful singing night after night (Nina Stemme was the straw that broke this camels back) so I took a year off to prepare for auditions and landed a regular orchestra gig and am much happier. I still have to suffer through a few concerts with the "stars" but it is bearable.
@Robert Lee, Countertenor I am sorry to hear that, you have a lovely, firm voice. Sadly, this is the case with far too many good singers. I have known many incredibly talented vocalists with beautiful voices who can't book a gig or get management because they lack the connections, but frauds like Yende, DiDonato, Fleming, Stemme, Meade, Netrebko, Gorecke do. Don't get me started on CT's or we'll be here all day. When I played continuo for Jarrowsky I got roasted for saying that he had a tiny voice that encompasses a little over an octave, is almost inaudible and his sound is nothing more than a colourless wail. We all know why the breakdancing Pole works, Fagoli is nothing but a bad Bartoli (that tacky, ridiculous woman) impersonator who has now lost his voice, Cencic , meh, the Asain guy who sang Cheribino in London recently is just terrible, terrible, terrible, never got the David Daniels hype; the list is very long.
Sono stata ripresa da molti per ciò che avevo scritto precedentemente perciò mi permetto di esprimere le mie opinioni negative sulla Signora in questione, usando una forma diversa. La voce di Jessica Pratt, ha un timbro che non può certo definirsi bello, le oscillazioni tra i vari registri sono fastidiosissime ed inoltre anche la stessa intonazione, ne risente parecchio. Non capisco l'entusiasmo generale che accoglie questa artista, che a mio parere (sono una cantante) è piuttosto mediocre e da Provincia. Mi auguro che anche questa volta,non verrò linciata per aver espresso un'opinione personale in un paese che spero, dia ancora la possibilità di libertà di parola. Poi non sono l'unica a non apprezzare l'illustre Signora..... 😅
