ok.. so meh... not really any kind of ground breaking car... the mustang did that first.. The interior is simply a corvair modified. the body and chassis just a different kind of nova.. even the engines are off the shelf chevy.. where is the originality? There isnt any.
One can say the same thing about the Mustang. The Camaro, much like the Mustang was a fresh design with new skins, but yes, had to rely on parts and ingenuity from previous models, otherwise the cost of all that R&D as well as specialized, specific parts would have to be passed to the consumer. And that point, how many people would want to pay that much for it. Imagine how hard it would have been to get parts. Proof of this is this ZL-1 Camaro, the cost of the engine was passed on to the requesting dealer and subsequently the consumer. At the time, no one ever thought these cars would be with what they are, but again, could you readily go to the dealership in the 1980’s on up and purchase replacement parts for the ZL-1 engine? You might get lucky and someone might have some parts, but for the most part you were hosed.
Such a great piece of history, great story by just "real" people! So much respect, great job guys!
Ok, at 3.48, is that the car? Oh. My. God! At 4.20 great video, car is RUNNING!

Wow Waukegan. I grew up near there
I used to know a guy back in 1980 , that had a red 67 Camaro convertible, 4 speed . It was a nice car , but he beat the $hit out of it .

And the Mustang is a restyled Falcon. Where is the originality? There isn’t any.
