Thank you for the kind words about Belgrade, Serbs. It is true that we approach foreigners with open hearts. We feel this as an obligation to make foreigners feel welcome. A small correction in 1.54 is actually the river Sava, which flows into the Danube near there ☺

It is real gold, actually 15 million pieces of 24 karat gold mosaics (golden flakes applied to baked glass) covering a surface area of 12,000 square meters (Russian federation donated most of the money for the mosaics).
There is also a crypt underground where Serbian Patriarchs are buried, that is just as beautiful.

Kalemegdan Fortress goes back thousands of years, not hundreds. The first mention of the city (fort) is in the 3rd century BC by the Celtic tribe, who had defeated Thracian and Dacian tribes that previously lived in and around the fort. The final look got it during Ottoman occupation but it was founded 2500 years ago. Walls from the Roman times are still visible.

Love the video, love that you like Belgrade and Serbia but you bought me when you said that you like that we Serbs are proud on our nation, country, history and that you are proud German which you should be,also i like how you pointed out how in Germany they look you as a nazi or some kind of racist if you wear, pur, fly german flag,i remmeber some yrs ago when Merkel and her party won the elections and 1 party member had small german flag and wave with it and she took the flag so aggressively from him and droped it on the floor,i couldnt belive, hear you would have riots over that, that politician could never be a public figure anymore, also you should check serbian-german history,we have long history together,we had great relations through medievil times, your military leader Palman and german knights were personal guard to our Emperor, your King Friedrich Barbarosa was personal friend with our King and they planned together crusade, also Serbia had biggest gold and silver mines in Europe and they were run by Saxons, our Emperor made like constitution and saxons had special rights like minority which in those days nobody did that, also you should check the Lusatian Serbs that live in Germany, serbs and other slavs mixed with germans and they got germanised and thats how you got the Prussians,we had Prussians in our army,we even had prussian style of military, training, doctrine, one of our great Generals from WW1 was Paulus Sturm, prussian, who came as a young officer in 19th century in serbian army, fought in serbo-turkish wars, two Balkan wars and in ww1 he got tank of General and was Commander of 3rd army who was fighting the germans basicly, also you should check your one of the best military leaders, germans say that for him,Fon Mackenzen,he led german army in ww1 into war with Serbia, you should hear what he said ro his troops before coming here about the Serbs,he gave us biggest military honors and after Belgrade fell he eract monument to heroic serbian soldiers who fought, that is never happened that enemy army build a monument to the opponent army, monument is stil here in Belgrade, also Hitler who hated Slavs i mean he hated eveybody haha he had high respect for the Serbs,he negotiate with our prince so that Serbia/Kingdom of Yugoslavia be neutral, didnt want to fight serbs, dont know was it him or Emperor Wilheim that said i wish that nation is on our side, also when we confronted the Nazi Germany Hitler said those Serbs bit me to my heart twice coz of ww1 and ww2 then haha all the best to you from Belgrade
Edit; We have in our war museum some german tanks and weapons that dont exist anywhere not even in Germany, they are only examples in the world, also ro add some ppl dont speak english so you think they are not nice they just dont understand you and probably are shamed that they dont speak english so they dont want to talk much with foreigners so you can mistake them with not so nice ppl

Germans and Serbs. There's an interesting Serbian movie from 2014 called "The Man Who Defended Gavrilo Princip." Princip's defense attorney was a man named Rudolf Zistler, an Austrian and a recent law school graduate who was appointed to the job. He was expected to throw the case but he put up a surprisingly good defense. The Austrian government was so outraged by the fact that he basically won the case they marched him to the border at gunpoint and kicked him out of the country. They wanted to hang him but the Hungarians vetoed the idea. It's on TH-cam with English subtitles. In any event, his argument wasn't that Princip didn't murder Franz Ferdinand but that (since Austria's annexation of Bosnia was illegal) he needed to be charged with murder (which didn't carry the death penalty) and not high treason (which did). The prosecution was dumbfounded that an ethnic German would defend a Slavic nationalist. His daughter later became the lead singer at the Sarajevo opera.

@@adrianog4148 Research and evidence points to Caucasus origins of the Albanians (Shqiptars). Albanians are J Haplogroup which is from the Caucasus and Middle East. These people were brought into the Balkans by the Byzantines who brought huge numbers of people from Armenia, Syria, Southern Italy, and that is how the J got into the Balkans. The Illyrians and ancients Greeks didn't have J, except for maybe some people of Georgian (Caucasus Georgia) descent, but they were only a small amount. Albanians language is also similar to the Caucasus language in grammar and syntax and also sounds in the Albanian language are uncommon in Europe but common in the Caucasus.
The Illyrian propaganda for the Albanians was started by Austria for its political agenda in the Balkans. Austrians took the idea for the Serbs and the Dalmatian Croats who had an Illyrian movement long before the idea was put in Albanians' heads. Austria suppressed the movement among Croats and Serbs and started pushing in for the backwards Albanians.

They and the other South Slavs were there before later Slavic movements and there is DNA besides the South Slavic. Most South Slavs are I Haplogroup which is the only Haplogroup to originate in Europe and scientists say it originated around the Danube where Serbia is today. It originated around the Ice Ages. "Albanians" which is not even their true name but what others decided to term them with the first writings being "the so-called Albanians" weren't mentioned in the Balkans until the 11th century when they were mercenaries of the Byzantines.

There should be a statue of Prinz Eugen von Savoy placed in Kalemegdan to commemorate his liberation of Belgrade from the Turks in 1717.
On the postament of it there should among other be the words:
    Prinz Eugen der edle Ritter,
    wollt dem Kaiser wied'rum kriegen
    Stadt und Festung Belgerad!
    Er ließ schlagen eine Brukken,
    daß man kunt hinüberrucken
mit der Armee vor die Stadt.
Als die Brucken nun war geschlagen,
daß man kunnt mit Stuck und Wagen
    Frei passir'n den Donaufluß,
Bei Semlin schlug man das Lager,
    Alle Türken zu verjagen,
Ihn'n zum Spott und zum Verdruß.

Love this! Both the initiative for Prinz Eugen 's statue, he definitely deserved it, and the poem in his honor.

The problem is that the biggest Nazi division in Yugoslavia during the Second World War was called the "Prince Eugene Division." And that's interesting because Prince Eugene was an Italian not a German. He actually wanted a place in the French Army (He was brought up at Versailles) but his mother was involved in a very bizarre murder/conspiracy and the French King denied him a commission, so he went to the Habsburgs. The rest is history.
Personally I don't like the neocon view of the Ottoman/Habsburg wars as a "clash of civilization." It was a clash between two empires. The French were traditionally allied with the Turks against the Austrians and the Serbs considered the Habsburgs their oppressors (who shot who in Sarajevo in 1914?) as much as the Ottomans. Eugene was a masterful general but he was no saint. He destroyed Sarajevo in the beginning of the 18th Century and ruined a great European Islamic city. It didn't recover its population until the 19th Century.

That statue in Kalemegdan is a statue of an Albanian, wearing the traditional Albanian hat.
