In this video we head to Pavle Korcagin, an amazing and notorious kafana in the city center in Belgrade. Known for good service and delicious Serbian food, it might be their politics that they are best known for.
The restaurant is a staunch supporter of Serbia's claim to Kosovo and every Sunday cooks the national dish of a country that supports this claim. They donate money to impoverished children in northern Kosovo and also buy products directly from Kosovar Serbian purveyors.
I want to highlight the fact that I have no personal opinion towards the issue of Kosovo and will be covering the other side of the argument when I head south.

@Stephen Henry Rose….let me remind you something just in case you don’t know history, and I think you don’t…Serbs came to Balkan 600 AD…Albanians have been there from day 1 of this planet, we gave Serbs some land, but as always, you give the Serbs your hand and they take the whole arm from you…So little Stephen Henry you should study the history first before making stupid comments in comment section…again study history, don’t listen to Serbian propaganda son….

Because Tito cares about all ethnicities. He isn't Radical Croats, nor a Radical Serbs like Milosevic. No. He was Multiculturalist. Which explains why there is a Republics in Yugoslavia at the first place.

@@JohnSmith-kn3fu You're the one that should learn history. Albanins have no historry before Principality of Arbanon established in 1190. The connection hto the ilyrian tribes are not an actual historical fact since they lac any concrete evidence - lingusistic are too different, ercheology non-existant. Nothing proves their connection to the tribe Albanoi. Illyrian toponyms from antiquity have not changed according to the usual phonetic laws applying to the evolution of Albanian. All in all, Albanian history is barely recorded and somewhat young.
Serbian history, in specific, can be traced to your mentioned 6th century, even to Kosovo. Not to mention that they lived and builed on that same land and have history with it.

About Kosovo, in short. In 18th century, Austrian general prince Eugen of Savoy led a war against Ottomans, and Serbs joined him hoping they will get rid of Turks. Eugen was very successful, he came all the way down to Skopje in Macedonia and then, what was a common thing in older times, disease decimated his army and he had to retreat. Turks, of course, started reprisals against Serbs, whose position until then was quite bearable if not more than that. Many Serbs left Serbia, especially from Kosovo and Metohija (metohia is a church feudal property), and they went to many directions, like Vojvodina, Croatia (Krajina - Military Frontier), Vienna, Trieste, even to Ukraine. And the emptied places were slowly filled by Albanians.
Later politics between those two nations, was always filled with reprisals from both sides, depending on the situation. Communists actually prevented Serbs from coming back to Kosovo in many cases after WW II, and many Albanians moved in from Albania without passports, and in the end they turned to weapons... International coalition supported them and separated Kosovo and Metohija (they dropped Metohija from the name of the region) from Serbia.

There is no border between Kosovo AND METOHIJA with Serbia. Is it that hard to understand? Don't spit in the mouth of the host country that welcomes you.

    • @marebalvan7963

But there literally is a border there, and I do find that unfortunate as a Serb, but it's what it is. This doesn't mean we should give up and stop trying to make that change in the future, but it is the current situation. I think the guy is trying to be respectful so I don't know why you're giving him a hard time.

Pavle korchagin, was the main character from the soviet era novel How the steel was tempered by nikolay ostrowsky. It is the antithesis of individualism, the main character sacrifices everything for the revolution, loses an arm i think, goes blind and in the end, and while completely blind still writes a book glorifying the revolution. I personally thought it was a great book, sometimes people don’t really have many meaningful choices. When the nazis come for you, you can let them take you, or pick up a gun and head for the forest. Maybe that makes you a hero, or maybe it’s just rational. In the end you will likely die either way, and cant hope for salvation even if you collaborate.

"Pavle Korcagin" and "SFRJ" are two kafanas with too many ex YU Socialism/Communism insignia in them. Can't go there. It bothers me. But, I understand why some Yugo-nostalgists go there, and foreigners, because it is exotic and unusual to them.
