    appreciate it, did the front and rears yesterday. Both ur vids helped a ton. Most time consuming part was taking the top nut off, vise grips did not want to stay put.

    Thanks so much for your great instructional videos! I replaced both front and rear shocks on my 1995 Corvette. Mileage is only 37K, but the shocks were original and in need of replacement. Huge ride improvement. Smooth and better handling by far! I used the same Bilsteins models referenced in your videos, and hand tools. Time wise, about 2 hours for the rear shocks and about 1.5 for the front. Thanks again!!!!!

    Tha '84 through '96 don't use the same rear shocks. The shocks on my '87 Corvette has a different mounting on top.
    Mine has 'eye's' on both sides.

    I just bought my 92 Corvette a few weeks ago and it also feels incredibly squirrely going over bumps at any serious speed. Thank you for the how to vid!! Also what bilsteins did you put on? I'm going to buy the Z51 shocks for a more tighter feel.

    • @ozzstars_cars
      @ozzstars_cars  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Cody Jorgensen I went with the standard HD Bilstein shocks. The car is used mostly for pleasure driving more than track racing. You also need to check and if necessary replace the sway bar bushings th-cam.com/video/jhM0BHQ2STU/w-d-xo.html . if they are cracked and brittle. Enjoy your new ride and glad the video was helpful - Ozz

    Just waiting for a dry day (got no garage) to replace the shocks on my '91. Dude, your video is just what I needed - you don't skip even the smallest steps, which is just what first-timers like myself need.
    Quick question about front shocks: I read somewhere that you don't even need to jack up the car. Is that true?
    Thanx for the great videos!

    • @ozzstars_cars
      @ozzstars_cars  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      MogamboJackthe front shocks are easier to replace if you raise the front end up off the ground but not necessary. Thanks for your comment Jack, I've been known to be detail oriented! lol Take it easy - Ozz

    This video was very helpful as was the one about the sway bar bushings, thanks for posting. I am going to replace my FX3 rear shocks and am wondering if you have replaced the rear shocks on a C4 with FX3? Any video? I'm having a heck of a time finding the upper bushings/grommets for the Bilstein FX3 shocks, for some reason Bilstein doesn't include them in this more expensive shock.

    • @ozzstars_cars
      @ozzstars_cars  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I haven't had to deal with the FX3 shock. From research I can tell you that its a stiffer more firm ride. Are you telling me Bilstein isn't supplying new upper bushings on a $100 fx3 shock???

    • @genemoren8458
      @genemoren8458 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Ozzstar That's correct, no bushings and the fx3 shocks are about $239.00 each. I've checked with several online Corvette parts dealers and it's the same with all of them. Some sell the bushings but are out of stock and don't know when they'll have them. I'm beginning to wonder if it might be better just to disable the fx3 system and use regular shocks.

    Im thinking of doing coilovers on my 1995 but i was looking around and it looks like a tight fit both front and rear...the coil overs are like $2000

      yeah I mean I don't wanna go full out gutted, roll cage, huge wing with it.. but as something I can take to the track and car shows...maybe 450whp...I don't plan on daily driving so some nicer seats would be good too

  • @billgallagher6945

    Ozzstar..... There are several type of Bilstein shocks that fit my 89 Vette. I do not track race and want a comfortable yet performance type ride. Which model would you recommend for the front and rear? I'd appreciate your input.

    • @ozzstars_cars
      @ozzstars_cars  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The non z51 type will work fine for your application. I believe it was the B6 Bilstein. Let me know how it goes Bill.

  • @brettchapman1460
    @brettchapman1460 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi Ozzstar, thanks for the videos! Just wondering if you can comment on a 1986 C4 front and rear shocks. Mine is a base unit and almost time to replace the shocks (well may as well if replacing bushing etc). Would you suggest Bilstein B8 or B6? I read some suggest B6 for front and B8 for rear and then read a different comment suggesting B6's. Cheers mate

    • @ozzstars_cars
      @ozzstars_cars  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Brett I would suggest you go with the Bilstein B6 if your car is stock and does not have the Z51 suspension package. If your car is lowered and/or has the Z51 suspension performance package then go with the B8. Going with the B8 on a stock base suspension will only give you a harsh ride with very little benefit.

    • @brettchapman1460
      @brettchapman1460 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wow thanks for the reply... yes it is lowered (forgot to mention) and from what I know this would then suggest B6 front and B8 rear. I thought I read somewhere B6 will bottom out due to the car being lowered on the rear. Unfortunately all the old forums dont actually finish off with what people actually put on :) Funny thing is that KYBs have only size so guess this is not really a problem? Cheers mate and awesome work
