Shinjuku is one of the most exciting neighborhoods of Tokyo. In fact, there is so much to do, you can literally spend an entire day in this one area. I'll be taking you around some of my favorite places in Shinjuku.

Swede here: I can confirm that the Japanese pronunciation of “IKEA” is same as Swedish. However it’s not a word but rather a acronym. The acronym that makes up the name stands for Ingvar Kamprad (the founder's name), Elmtaryd (the farm where the founder grew up), and Agunnaryd (the founder's hometown).

I am a dishware freak.😂 You and I would have so much fun browsing pottery studios/stores throughout Japan. I really loved the lotus root plate in Nitori. If I were still throwing, I'd "borrow" the design. 😊 I adore your "hidden gems" videos, Shinichi. There is always so much to see and learn. My personal favorites are the tucked away parks, shrines/temples, and mom & pop stores and restaurants. Thank you for all you (and Satoshi) do! 💙💙

@markylon maybe one day, however I'm getting older and have some considerable health issues I must take into account. I would love to visit and learn more about the country and people first hand. My husband, as a teen, lived with a Japanese man in New York city for a while, as his dad had a job that meant they moved a lot and he didn't care to keep moving. This man taught him a lot and took good care of him. The man was tragically killed by a stray bullet though :(

We are staying in Shinjuku in December to attend Opulence, so I am totally going to try the matcha and hojicha in NeWoman! It's funny how many of the restaurants and tea shops in Tokyo are the same as in SoCal these days.

It's been a very long time since I've been in Shinjuku. I think it was 2019. I think so much has changed since then. I remember that they build some of the things I think at the new south area. That was in my student days. I always go to Shinjuku new south for the Christmas lights if I'm in Tokyo around that time of year. And I've been to a small flea market in summer in the Shinjuku area, not that far from the station, That was a nice area. I love the dango place you showed in a video a long time ago. That was delicious.
As I'm usually closer to Ikebukuro, I always go there, but the Hands is no longer there so I either have to go to the one in Shinjuku (To be honest that's not my favourite location) Or I have to check out the one they have in Toyosu. But with that antenna shop from Miyazaki prefecture in Shinjuku I think I can combine those stores :)
