What I've always loved about Fleshgod is how they combine the sheer brutality of Italian Tech Death (à la Hour Of Penance, Carnality) with the epic orchestral melodies and such.
Sympho Death is hugely underrated in my opinion since there aren't many bands playing that respectful genre but I'm glad we have Fleshgod Apocalypse as one of its best known acts!

      I recommend scepticflesh

@@salamanderavem3782 While I think they're fun to listen too, their songwriting is nowhere near the level of Fleshgod in terms of being super advanced for each instrument and increadibly technically creative...
Septicflesh is relatively basic metal mixed with epic orchestrals, whereas with Fleshgod the metal part itself is also written like a classical piece (the guitars are written like violins but distorted, tuned down to B and at tempos upwards of 250bpm) and the orchestrals are written in a way where they leave open these parts for the metal instruments to fill in. I could ramble on forever over how intriquette Fleshgod's songwriting (mostly on Labyrinth and King) is...just let me make clear I don't mean to belittle Septicflesh, they're rock solid, they're just more on the simple side and FG are exceptionally advanced.

Die...of laughter in delight before a living dead
Victim into this masquerade, forgot who I am
This story is driving me mad
My life is hanging by a thread that is about to break
Suicidal tendencies burn inside the mind of this miserable man
Is it life? Is it death?
    I don't give a shit
    Still...
Is it life? Is it death?
    When you fool yourself
    Fucked
Bleed behind this painful mask I wear
I'm falling from a misleading grace
The life I dreamed is killing me
    Stuck on the tightrope
Staring down to the void beneath
    In imposed equilibrium
I stand swinging in my indecision
Uncompassionate result of a fearing existence
I don't care if my time has come
All I want is my liberation
Drunk, I make it through the night with spirits hand in hand
My soul must be anesthetized, I can't bear this pain
    To my frustration engaged
Just like to get laid with the worst enemy I've inside
    but I cannot change myself
No way to squeeze blood from the stone that I am
Is it life? Is it death?
    Fuck!
Is it life? Is it death?
    When you fool yourself
    Why?
Bleed behind this painful mask I wear
I'm falling from a misleading grace

+Mendel bij de Leij Check out Spawn of Posession. They're technical death metal, but their song writer works almost entirely in advanced theory, and each instrument basically plays its own part (i.e. no "rhythm and lead", basically "left guitar, right guitar, and bass"). Apparition is they're most accessible song, but definitely also check out Scorched, No Light Spared, Bodiless Sleeper, The Evangelist and...screw it, just check out they're album Incurso.

This instrumentation and how they charge from the first opening intro to Harpsichord alongside arrangements and swift tempo changes. The sharpness and vocals never heard till now on their platters blow everything they did out of the waters. How will they top this platter!!! :) This is massive and was waiting for them to uncover their truest potential to embrace them 1000% They exceeded my expectations.

The fool archetype is the most interesting. Although portrayed as a fool, he is the scapegoat of pointlessness portrayed by the all more serious other archetypes. The fool masquerades his internal conflict by humor. It is this conflict that runs deeper than all the others. A sense of hopelessness envelops the fool and there is no escape. But the fool is the most interesting because, in the end, in the present, and in the past, are not we all fools?

The "fool", i.e. the court jester, is also rather interesting in Shakespearean plays. In King Lear he uses a cynical mask of comedy to convey hard, blunt truths to the king that no one else would be free to.

Finally, good production. The guitars are the driving force of the music like they should be while the orchestral elements complement the music well instead of constantly competing for attention. If I had any complaints, though, it would be that the drums are too loud and drown out the piano at times. Otherwise it's a solid track and I'm excited to hear the rest of the album.

Jesus!! stop this shit already! why you people have always something to complain about? if the guitars are not loud enough, if the drums doesn't sounds very natural, if the orchestal parts are not very great. WHAT THE FUCK? When a band changes their sound everybody loses their minds "oh, I wish they were what they were" "I remember when they were good". But FA have not changed their sound, it's the opposite, they improved their sound in so many levels and this sounds fuckin' amazing, even the vocals sounds better than Labyrinth. I don't know how you people dare to complain about a production that sounds great. There's NOTHING to complain about. Do they changed their sound? Do they went generic? No? then STFU.

This is one of the best metal albums ever imo. It captures an older “neoclassical” vibe that older metal once had, but it moves it forward through pushing the envelope on the “classical” part of things while maintaining their brutal contemporary metal sound. I guess it’s something else entirely (the classical part), but that’s the best way I can put it.

I'm right there with you on this. I completely fell in love with this band the moment I heard Oracles. What they eventually began doing with the synths on agony they were doing on the guitars with Oracles, which made their sound so incredibly unique and fresh imo. There's just way too much to say in a comment, but I will go ahead and say I really don't know how I feel about this track yet. I've listened to it through 3 different sources, and I still cannot hear the damn guitars. As a guitarist, this frustrates me when Im literally leaning with my hand against my ear trying to make out what's being played.
