The Knights marched on as heretics and mutants ran though the streets, slaying any who stood in their way. They had to wait for the cabal to complete the ritual and open a rift in this world so it would be damned forever in the warp. The knights laughed and their leader was ready to embrace the dark forces , until a bolter fire could be heard in the distance. The Tyrant turned to see the grey knights charging as they chanted their sacred oaths with bolter and blade in hand. The demon machines opened fire and saw how the armor of their foe shatters and their bodies vaporize from their power. The demon hunters knew that they stood no chance , but they fought regardless and placed a beacon on the battlefield as one by one they fell. "Is this all from the corpse worshipers' finest!?" The Tyrant roared in mockery! "Ave Imerator.Ave IMPERIALIS!" with those words said one of the dying grey knights used the last of his strength to activate his beacon and though this final act he slammed the rune that activated the device as the sky from above shattered and lightning struck the ground. The Dradknights stood in defiance of the enemy as their ancient lead the battle himself. The Tyrant turned and laughed "Finally! A worthy opponent!" he said as his weapons roared into life, but what he saw next shook him to the core. He and his brethren shoot everything they've got at them and not even a scratch was upon the knights. The ancient looked at the enemy leader and with four words he send his brothers to frenzy "We are the hammer!" as they rushed towards their foes. The demon machines answered in return as they too charged and both sides clashed as metal hit metal and each side exchanged devastating blows that would destroy thousands outright, but the will of the Grey knights was iron as they struck down the traitors one by one until the Tyrant fell, his reactor almost dead. "Any last words traitor?" The ancient said before raising his hammer. Laughter followed as the Tyrant looked at the grey warrior "You shall not KILL ME!!!" he shouted as he overloaded his plasma and a large explosion engulfed both of them. The wards upon the ancient stood and then vanished as the last of their strength was took to save the knight from certain death. The sky turned red as screams and wales could be heard from a far. The Emperors' warriors were too late as the rift opened and demons spew out like a plague upon the world. The battle was won, but the war had just begun.
So much better than the games I play in the back of the seedy liquor store, where Shawn the hobboe stabbed me with a rusty can after I tabled his Adeptus Mechanicus army. Shawn's not known for his sportsmanship, he's known for carrying his entire army in a sack on a stick.

"I thought I'd be fighting Chaos not Chaos Knights..." proceeds to take the game to Turn 5 and end clawing at Chaos' back. That match was INCREDIBLE! Major props to Paul and Tycho.

This makes me want a big knight(and equivalents) melee. Imagine Chaos Knights, Imperial Knights, Tau giant crisis suits, Eldar Walkers, Tyranid Gigantic Biomorphs, etc all in a king of the hill winner take all battle!
I feel like this should've been a stomp for the GK, did nobody tell Paul how important primary objectives were in this edition? There were so many times where he should've been in or contested objectives for free. Seeing knights win because of objectives is a clear indicator that something went very, very wrong.
Right? Had he just maneuvered a bit on turn 3 it would've been a stomp for grey knights. Knights in general suck this edition. Paul kinda blew it unless no one told him what to focus on.
Fairly new fan here (watching through new videos to old) and I was psyched to see the mysterious Paul play! Also love your camera work. Tycho, of course, always a joy and a gentleman. It was also cool seeing your first battle report from your new studio. Great to see how this incredible channel and group has grown.
Never thought I'd see a knights game (that didn't end in a table wipe) where the knights player dominated primary. How many movement phases did Paul miss? :)
I know this is an old battle, but I just wanted to say that play on tabletop is one of the channels that helped inspire me to get back into Warhammer 40k.
So many armies! So little time! Plus... 2020 kicked planet earth right in the sprouts... We hope to get a higher variety of armies on the channel for 2021 :)

He told me he was bringing Knights to our match. Since I only have one army (necron) and most of my stuff is waiting on GW restocking ques. Before I can field it. The guys at the shop have been nice enough to tell me which of their armies they're bringing to help me out as a new player... Except he tricked me. He whipped out Imperial Knights when we started deploying. I used my Canoptek Tomb Sentinel and Spyders to field several Gloom Prisms for psychic denial. And didn't bring my Nightbringer because he dies first turn to psychic armies usually. Also taking two units of Deathmarks for mortal wounds from safe distance to whittle away terminators... yeah, my list was hot garbage against Imperial Knights. So I felt your pain big time.
You guys are legitimately producing the highest quality batreps I’ve ever seen. The editing, the effects, the terrain, the narration... really well done! I’d love to see you guys do a crusade campaign
Grey knights are really good at not dying, which makes them annoying. The great thing about this game though is that killing enemy units isn't the only way to win, and keeping your focus on the objectives will make gameplay a lot less frustrating, as even though Tycho had a lot of trouble with those Grey Knights, he still won because of objectives. Also, would love to see some Sisters of Battle on the channel! I'm a huge fan of you guys and can't wait for the next match!

It's been said over and over, but it's worth saying again. The quality of these battle reports is incredible, this should be what every other battle report should strive to be. The camera work, the editing, the commentary, and the players. Everything is exceptional. I particularly love the length of the videos, concise enough to show off all the action and important portions, but reduced down to be more easily watched. You guys have singlehandedly reignited my interest in the game. Keep up the amazing work!

One thing that you might be able to do to ease audio issues that you guys experienced might be to equalize the audio and just have it come through as mono audio, it was pretty difficult through headphones. Nonetheless you guys still make the best 40k content on youtube please keep it up, I'm so excited for the rest of the month
I love the content guys and I am so happy you guys are back in business! The one thing I would give as feedback is that I am often lost as to what the die rolls actually represent. I frequently don't know what weapon is being used, what the target numbers are, and what damage will be done if the roll is passed or failed. So much of the excitement to me is the build up of a roll and if I don't know what the consequence of the roll is, then it is hard for me to get invested. That being said guys, you are one of my favorite 40k channels and I can't wait to see all the stuff you make! I found right at the end of 8th and ended up watching your entire back catalogue.

Would have liked the narrative to state when a knight was destroyed. I had a hard time following. Cool report tho. Nice table. 👍 Also, Tyco's chaos gift of "Bulging Eyes" is totally cool
You did an amazing job with the terrain. This reminds me of when the theatre in my city had a play with lots of fire - except they had to pull it off without lighting up a match! So they came up with coloured paper moved up and down with air to mimic flames, with added lightning and sound effects. They respected security protocols, and put up a show.
I laughed at "sometimes mixes up rules from 2 or 3 editions ago". I've been playing since 4e, and I still try and shoot vehicles in their "rear armor" when I can.
I don't know why, but the calm serene music at around 20 mins drew me in like crazy lol. I was just zoned out playing video games watching youtube videos and i didn't even realize i had paused my game and was just in a trance watching the dice rolls lol
The small current of air putting down the models creates makes the mist move and it looks sooo good on camera!! Sad that the grey knights lost, but it was a really good match and i think both factions showed what they are good at. i hope their codexes come relatively soon and both armies can have some of their holes patched up to increase their performance on the competitive scene.
Gotta be said this was a great fight - Paul got the rough end of the chainsword early on and thanks to being surprised with bigger knights than expected, but man did he fight well against those odds: I know I couldn’t imagine being able to deal half of the blows he did even if I had a 4000 point army! Another amazing battle; really hope to see Paul in more of these in future!
Even with the audio still having a great time watching, looking forward to see more factions get some spotlight and, honestly, whatever else you care to put out
We all know that video production can often have audio issues. Complex setups, outside interference, shoddy equipment, you name it and something can screw with your audio. It's a part of the process, it's fine. The real *class act move* here is posting editor notes in the video STATING that you know there's audio issues. Thanks for that! :)
Tiacos love of chaos knights is lovely, maybe not the most meta army but cmon ITS MASSIVE DEMON POSSED WALKING CASTLES OF EVIL! So happy to see them anytime i can. Also lets see some orks, they are adorable and we miss them.

In case no one pointed it out. First action after movement is wron. Gate of infinity goes off on a 6! GK has brotherhood of psykers gives +1 to cast and smites.

I think the animations would look allot better if the knights were oriented towards their targets, I understand that that is usually not possible due to gameplay, but maybe a few seconds to orient them a bit would make it all look allot better. And compliments on both those armies they look amazing!
We constantly hear Nick (when he is behind the camera) asking players to face the models in the right direction. We will have to listen more often to him.
This was awesome, I've been looking for a good battle report to watch that isn't 3 hours long for the Grey Knights, because it's an army I'm starting to collect. (I just wish there was a bit more detail in the neon yellow weapons to make them a bit less garish, but that's my own opinion, the army still looks great.)
Paul did admirably. I never thought of the idea of putting a Dreadnought Chassis on a Dreadknight. It's a fresh look! Unfortunately the Grey Knights infantry couldn't facetank the might of Chaos Knight Firepower. Maybe it would have been better to have kept them out of line of sight, then drop the Dreadknights in for hammertime. After bracketing/downing a Chaos Knight Paul would then have more leeway in controlling the board and force I am impressed by the damage output of Dreadknights. I haven't seem them much so I was pleasantly surprised at how they were able to lay the pain on the Tycho's Chaos Knights. Maybe changing to Tide of Escalation would have helped in dealing more mortal wounds? Well done to Tycho for holding onto primary objectives in between the Slaughter. I really like the glowing pink eyes. I wouldn't normally think it would work but he really make them pop out like warp energy is oozing out of the Lord Discordan't Mount and the Chaos Knight models!

Those Grey Knights were very well painted, but I was more enamored with the Chaos Knights. So much detail and flavor!

You did an amazing job with the terrain. This reminds me of when the theatre in my city had a play with lots of fire - except they had to pull it off without lighting up a match! So they came up with coloured paper moved up and down with air to mimic flames, with added lightning and sound effects. They respected security protocols, and put up a show.
I honestly didnt even notice, i love watching these games. As a new player i find these kinds of videos priceless for learning with

I laughed at "sometimes mixes up rules from 2 or 3 editions ago". I've been playing since 4e, and I still try and shoot vehicles in their "rear armor" when I can.

I don't know why, but the calm serene music at around 20 mins drew me in like crazy lol. I was just zoned out playing video games watching youtube videos and i didn't even realize i had paused my game and was just in a trance watching the dice rolls lol

Sad that the grey knights lost, but it was a really good match and i think both factions showed what they are good at. i hope their codexes come relatively soon and both armies can have some of their holes patched up to increase their performance on the competitive scene.
We enjoyed that extra effect - we won't say it was on purpose and were pleasantly surprised at the interaction.

Gotta be said this was a great fight - Paul got the rough end of the chainsword early on and thanks to being surprised with bigger knights than expected, but man did he fight well against those odds: I know I couldn’t imagine being able to deal half of the blows he did even if I had a 4000 point army!
Another amazing battle; really hope to see Paul in more of these in future!
The bright yellow swords are an interesting affect, and one I haven't seen before.
Even with the audio still having a great time watching, looking forward to see more factions get some spotlight and, honestly, whatever else you care to put out

We all know that video production can often have audio issues. Complex setups, outside interference, shoddy equipment, you name it and something can screw with your audio. It's a part of the process, it's fine. The real *class act move* here is posting editor notes in the video STATING that you know there's audio issues. Thanks for that! :)

Tiacos love of chaos knights is lovely, maybe not the most meta army but cmon ITS MASSIVE DEMON POSSED WALKING CASTLES OF EVIL! So happy to see them anytime i can. Also lets see some orks, they are adorable and we miss them.
Paul getting the rules mixed up from past editions isn’t bad. I’m over here remembering When Terminator armor was 3+ on 2D6 save 😅

I think the animations would look allot better if the knights were oriented towards their targets, I understand that that is usually not possible due to gameplay, but maybe a few seconds to orient them a bit would make it all look allot better.
And compliments on both those armies they look amazing!
We constantly hear Nick (when he is behind the camera) asking players to face the models in the right direction. We will have to listen more often to him.

This was awesome, I've been looking for a good battle report to watch that isn't 3 hours long for the Grey Knights, because it's an army I'm starting to collect.
(I just wish there was a bit more detail in the neon yellow weapons to make them a bit less garish, but that's my own opinion, the army still looks great.)
Paul did admirably. I never thought of the idea of putting a Dreadnought Chassis on a Dreadknight. It's a fresh look!
Unfortunately the Grey Knights infantry couldn't facetank the might of Chaos Knight Firepower. Maybe it would have been better to have kept them out of line of sight, then drop the Dreadknights in for hammertime. After bracketing/downing a Chaos Knight Paul would then have more leeway in controlling the board and force
I am impressed by the damage output of Dreadknights. I haven't seem them much so I was pleasantly surprised at how they were able to lay the pain on the Tycho's Chaos Knights.
Maybe changing to Tide of Escalation would have helped in dealing more mortal wounds?
Well done to Tycho for holding onto primary objectives in between the Slaughter. I really like the glowing pink eyes. I wouldn't normally think it would work but he really make them pop out like warp energy is oozing out of the Lord Discordan't Mount and the Chaos Knight models!
