Hi, my name is Derek Krahn and I'm the Operations Director for the Center for Animal Research and Education (CARE), a non-profit big cat sanctuary in Texas. That's where I got the idea for the name, 'BigCatDerek'. As you can tell, I'm not very creative.
The videos I put on this channel are primarily centered around the CARE cats with which I am friends. I do two weekly webcasts here where I walk around the compound and ramble about random things and I also do a lot of color commentary over many of my videos - almost always unscripted.
Not gonna lie, a lot of people don't like me when they first watch my stuff. I have a certain 'energy' & delivery style which I guess is an acquired taste. The people who stick around get addicted to the content pretty hardcore. Seriously, it becomes their crack.

You can see that they love Derek but they just absolutely ADORE Heidi. Like they go nuts for her. It’s so sweet to see.

@@thegamingsushicat5349Because she makes things happen. She loves them so much that she's doing buisiness ALL DAY to make sure these beautiful animals are taken care of. They fell that love and energy, and reciprocate that.
I've said it before and I'll say it again. Heidi is a real life Disney princess, and no one can tell me otherwise.

Damn Heidi is just so cool. It’s so cool to see her interact with the cats. She knows their individual limits, what she can and can’t do with each animal. I’d love another WATC from her, though I know she’s not a big fan of filming herself. But she has so much knowledge to share!

This is so much more than Mommy saying hello to her babies. This is full dedication, unconditional love and every ounce of sacrifice to make sure these cats have the BEST life. They adore her because she lives for them. Heidi dear, I love you! Thank you for EVERYTHING you do.

Awwwwww...the kitties all think Heidi is Francis of Assisi. They try to murder you, Derek, but Heidi is the one who can snap them out of kitty psychosis. Except Cass. She's never psychotic. She's a lovebug 24/7.
