For those who don't know, carpet used to be a sign of class back when it first came out. The more carpet you could afford to renovate into your home, the higher class you were. Needless to say, things got a little, uh... 'out of control'. Common sense played no part in carpeted bathrooms; only vanity and a desperate ploy for popularity.
I was fortunate enough to avoid carpet in the bathroom, but the first apartment my husband and I lived in had carpet in the kitchen. I’m clumsy. We had to get the carpet professionally cleaned. A lot. There were several marinara sauce incidents….
The benches are a form of hostile design. They are very purposely left out in the rain so it won’t offer a homeless person a place to sleep because that “wouldn’t look good” for the city.
The sad thing about the benches at the train stations is that those might not even be done like that unintentionally. They may have been build like that because they're trying to keep the homeless people from sleeping on them.

My dad’s old house had carpet in the downstairs bathroom… including around the jacuzzi. Can confirm that our cats destroyed that thing, aside from how inherently gross it was.
My thought was: Even ignoring the bad aim of guys (guilty), what if your toilet springs a leak? Especially if said leak is the wax ring (i.e. the seal at the bottom of the toilet where all the effluvium goes down to the sewer)? Can you imagine THAT soaking into your carpet? gagg

Yep, exactly. And you try to leave the top part untouched so you can throw it away once you bit through to the other side. You only need the ice-cream to add a little bit of flavor to the wrapper but you don't actually want to eat too much of it. That would be unhealthy.

A lot of cities purposefully want benches to be in awkward locations so it’s helpful usually but it is unhelpful toward certain people, those who use them the most often. Homeless people for instance wouldn’t often be able to sleep on those benches because of weather whereas a customer can suffer through and use it for a few minutes or stand waiting type of thing.
I didn't have anything but clear tape at home to cover up the blinking light on my desktop computer back in the day, so I taped a coin over it. And it was an out-of-date low-value coin so there were no losses. Worked like a charm.
Even with five collective years in two different design degrees (one multimedia/IT and graphic design), I too share the pain of such painful design choices showcased! But seriously, that bulldog statue has seen some crazy stuff.

There’s a neighborhood in town here in anchorage with roads connecting called fairweather court, fairweather drive and fairweather place oh and fairweather park loop. It gets confusing to find the right road to turn on cuz the fairweather sign at the intersections of each street are in big letters on each road, but the the court, drive or place is so small to the right of each road. I’ve gotten turned around so many times. I’m sure this is the mailman’s nightmare and mail gets delivered to the wrong places all the time.

What you can't see in the photo is that the gutter along the roof slopes toward the bench and is totally closed off where there is not a bench but then has it's side wall removed right at the benches, it is designed that way so homeless people can't sleep on the benches... Ok that is not true but I wouldn't put it past someone to design something exactly like that for that exact reason.
It isn't only the aim with the carpet around the toilet. If you live someplace with even mild humidity, you will get condensation on the tank and bowl that will run off and make that carpet wet. It's just a bad idea. I guess if you live in a really arid place, you don't have to worry about that part, but just don't do this, for the sake of kids splashing in tubs and careless toilet users alike.
I have a touch screen on my oven, but on mine it doesn't trigger unless it's a part of my body that touch it, so it could be a tech problem or a QC problem
