Am pretty speechless watching you paint………every time you add either more darks or bright colors i hold my breath and your creation continues……………amazing!
Most spectacular - watching the painting process. And the discussion about Qor paints, the binder, the light-fastness, the ground - all so very interesting. Thank you.
Thank you for explaining your use of colour while painting… the warm and cool areas in your portrait. The under colour gives the painting an ethereal tone. With each layer the painting comes alive. You have great vision and talent. 🙏🏼🎨✨♥️
If you're painting watercolor on watercolor ground instead of paper, it would generally be considered a mixed-media piece. Watercolor ground alters the surface to make it suitable for watercolor, but it is not traditional watercolor paper. This addition introduces a different material and texture, which can affect the final appearance and technique of the artwork. Therefore, the use of watercolor ground alongside watercolor paint classifies the artwork as mixed-media.
And here I was imagining you swishing water and pigment across the page with total abandon, producing ever sheerer layers of color. But no! tiny brush, slow build-up of layer upon layer upon layer. Still, I am amazed at the result - just mesmerizing. Thx.
the effects on the wet ground are so beautiful!

When displaying such a coated paper piece, would the attribution say "mixed media on paper" or "watercolor on paper"?
