    When you think of planning a Nigerian wedding or a party, the first thing that comes to mind is showcasing the Nigerian culture with gorgeous Aso-Ebi styles and flamboyant colors. Although the Aso-Ebi concept started from Nigeria,many African countries have started to embrace it.
    "Aso-ebi makes your event colorful and gives guests a sense of belonging"
    Battabox presenter Odunayo speaks to a fabric merchant in Lagos, Nike Atobatele , the CEO of VOS Fabrics who speaks extensively one Aso-Ebi and why Nigerians are so obsessed with it.
    "What is in vogue now is tulle lace," says Nike "A lot of people come to ask for this," she continues as she shows Odunayo a really beautiful lace fabric
    But the major challenge in picking out the perfect Asoebi lies in the variety of styles and colors one has to select from.
    "If you want to wear ankara and you don't want plain ankara, you can go for this," says Nike
    VOS Fabrics has some really beautiful exclusive fabrics like french lace, tulle lace, swizz lace etc and specially made Ankara materials.
    For your exclusive Aso-Ebi find Vos Fabrics on 54 Opebi Road Ikeja Lagos, or contact VOS Fabrics Facebook or Instagram @vosfabrics.
    Watch and enjoy!

      You're on point! I believe there are too many skilled fabric producers in Africa. I think one thing is also that Africans prefer products from abroad (mostly Europe) above their own

      Kiki Karrot the name (aso) is the cloth while the (ebi) is the group of people that gather to celebrate you, ebi is called family friends. So its a group of people coming to wear a uniform to grace an occasion. It shows LOVE, ONENESS nd UNITY

    The owner and her shop are beautiful and yet she is making the European producers of these scrumptious fabrics extremely wealthy coz we Africans can't be bothered to produce anything.it is a tragedy and is the reason we are not getting any richer.we possess no industries that create jobs and manufacture goods for export.

  • @misskemo
    @misskemo 8 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    the first fabric is gorge. I love tradition outfits but cant stand nigerian tailors (they never design what you want or it doesn't fit and the good ones are way too expensive) :( so i avoid aso ebi as much as possible.

    • @obulandoseke-pu572
      @obulandoseke-pu572 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      misskemo the way to avoid that, find a really good tailor preferably not in the main cities where it's more expensive and stick with him/her. Go to the tailor and let her measure you and keep all your measurements. Tell her to add allowance inside all your clothes. Next time you need another outfit made, you'll only need to send her a picture of the style.
