I was noodling with this piece and decided to play it again. Unfortunately, I lost the sheet music that I bought from Florante, so I had to rework it from memory in about an hour. Anyone who wants to play a more modern arrangement/harmonization of Filipino traditional music should checkout FLORANTE.ORG. I've been playing (or at least trying to) his arrangements for years and they never get old. Even though he lives in the SF Bay Area, I have never met or seen him play live and hope to one day have that opportunity.

Frankie wanted very much to please her. He thought about all the music he'd learned. He recalled one of the stolen discs, a song from the Philippines that his teacher said was "sad enough to melt the phonograph needle."
El maestro had taught it to Frankie. Its title was "Maalaala Mo Kaya," written by a Filipino composer named Constancio de Guzman. It depicted two people from different social classes promising not to forget their love.

I ordered the music some years ago from Florante Aguilar, and I started learning it but I was not mentally into it, just sight reading the music got me scared, but now I am deliberately learning it and it's not really technically difficult - it's BEAUTIFUL music, Florante Aguilar's arrangement makes it a 'standard for Guitar virtuosos' repertoire. Thanks Raffy for posting. Bravo.

Feels so good and heavy to listen to this song while reading the part where Frankie was playing this for the dead bodies in the mass grave or rather for the girl. Felt more realistic. Haha

This cover was amazing. I hope you don't mind but I used this to perform at a party using my violin. I didn't have time to get permission because I needed a company for background as I play and I found this lovely one last minute.

Gamit ko lang dito ay Tascam DR-07 audio recorder.
