This made me more hyped. Had the same feeling as Huber watching this. Looks good! I was a little let down by Alone in the Dark, but this definitely has the potential to join RE2, RE4, and Dead Space for quality remakes.
Yeah it gave me more hope too. Those trailers made my eyes bleed but I guess its silly to take what is 10% of a game and stretch it over to 90% of a trailer and expecting it to be representable. This gameplay bit was way more telling. I just hope they are able to give it the AAA polish that a larger studio like Motive or Capcom etc is capable of. (actually dont know how big Bloober is but my guess is smaller) In terms of my eye test I feel like it might bump up against Dead Space Remake in terms of quality, def not RE2/4, but also certainly not Alone in the Dark thankfully
This remake actually looks pretty decent. I hope it runs well. With that said, this trend of providing "early access" for single players games as a preorder bonus is so stupid. Stop preordering.
It's not a pre-order bonus. It's a deluxe edition bonus. Ever since Diablo 4, it's been a trend to offer early access to deluxe edition owners. Likely because there's no other reason to ever buy a deluxe edition. It's a shitty trend, but it's one that sells.
I never understood the appeal for it anyway. For me the pre-release hype is always most intense months/weeks removed from the actual release. The actual release week I honestly just lose that drive to have it and suddenly become much more patient. Waiting 2-4 days really shouldnt matter especially if you have a busy life
I don't see most people liking the combat or a few other aspects of this remake, but I'm almost 53 and have played Silent Hill 2 In it's many incarnations, for over 20 years, I like what I see!
Never played SH just watched gameplay/demos as a kid at the local game store. Think the janky animations are an attempt at being a wink to the original or just Bloobers lack of resources?
@@JayLaliberte-xs3ky Oh yeah for sure, an attempt at a remake is always better than no attempt. If it sucks you have the OG or if you never liked the old retro game you lost nothing either.
@@thewal1ofsleep Actually not just for the early access, if you're keen for the costumes and stuffs, the preorder of the Deluxe Edition would also give you that. If you don't want the extra stuffs, can always just buy the base game, like most modern gaming offer nowadays.
I think the transmission is beautifully done, and I also think the reason they trimmed the gameplay scenes was because it wants to keep the tension and surprises, let players to explore and discover on our own.
Makes you wonder how they do the cutscenes to gameplay transitions. Immersion is a big thing for these cinematic games. Thrillers especially. I always find it jarring when the cutscenes just fade from black into gameplay and vice versa. But I also dont know how many resources Bloober has for this level of polish and also how they dealt with this in their previous games (never played any of them)
@20:53 Oh hell yeah! Rotting Christ band t-shirt. I bet he turned up on the day for the interview, and they're like "Mariusz! Couldn't you wear something a little bit more family friendly?" And he's like, "It's no problem, I'll cover it with my beard!" I just saw it the band play actually, just a couple of weeks ago. Absolutely awesome performance.
There were no world transitions in Silent Hill 2. They only happened in 1 and 3. They had to do with Alessa. In Silent Hill 2 the world changes subtle. The only instant where something like a transition happened was at the hotel when you woke up to a moist filthy version of it. So you can't fault the people who made the trailer. They did a good job.
@@FaithCannon7 You are correct! In the hospital we had a transition! I totally forgot. Other than that though I don't recall these transitions with the sirens and everything in SH2. They were more of a 1-3-5 thing.
What doesn't quite work for me are his animations. He walks the same way no matter what is doing. I imagine he would walk the same way while looking for his car in the car park. The same thing goes for opening doors, entering rooms, encountering enemies etc. there's no situational or contextual modification or addition to his animations. It seems kind of last-gen and jarring against the next gen visuals. They need a more modern approach to animation So that the player character isn't just a vehicle controlled by the player but is actually a person experiencing those moments with you.
Felt the same way when they moaned about it. It’s clean enough and not overly loud in presentation to really be distracting. It’s typical silent hill fan gatekeeping
It just feels kinda pointless/directionless? Why do we need to know we just entered Brookhaven Hospital (and how would we not know we’re on floor 1?) Not new info, it’s just there because that’s what you do in games. Would be more immersive with no hud/popups.
i mean the other side to this place thing isn't out of step with the notes james finds in the original. or his interactions with the other characters. the town literally tells james to kill himself at one point. it was never subtle.
I think what I like about this process so far is how bloober seems to be taking note on what's received well and otherwise, then subsequently changing these aspects as development moves forward. -Announcement trailer: "James' face is weird". Alterations since been made -2nd trailer: "Ew! Quicktime events when caught by an enemy". Now removed (on HUD at least) I wonder what minor adjustments will now be made with the constructive criticism that'll follow this presentation? 🤔
I actually thought to myself the best thing to probably happen to them is being roasted and doubted so much with their early gameplay reveals. It gives them time to iterate and motivates them to prove people wrong. The worst thing that can happen to your game is for people to only realize its average of release. So yeah you would hope they take all this adversity and use it to make the game better
I genuinely think we're experiencing the meticulous cooking of a masterpiece, it just seems right, even the doubt seems right, Team Silent situation all over again (quite literally cause Masahiro and Akira are present) I've been craving this remake so much since it got revealed, it's all I think about. My 1st time ever expecting a game release to buy it day 1/my 1st time pre-ordering a game/getting the newest console... All because of how obsessed I've been with this franchise since I was a kid and how inaccessible it has become 💓😩
99% of ps5 games are games with ps4 graphics that make you choose between 60fps or less detailing/image quality. What's your point exactly? The remake seems pretty good
still on the fence still on the remake. combat with the melee still looks rough to me. still not sold if they got the silent hill part of the game but we will see
they said there were areas they'd expanded on. For example you explore those outhouses at the beginning to get the radio, not just having it on a random street. I think the expanded areas they'll let you explore a bit more.
Hello everyone! The character redesign is terrible; they have completely neglected the concept that was behind their original modeling and animations, where they delved into the personality and history in each visual narrative. It's evident that the interaction with the environment doesn't reach the same quality as its first version. If we focus solely on the character modeling, they have been replaced by a poor and ridiculous interpretation. This new presentation of Mary, Angela, James, and Laura, with poor 3D rendering, lacks corporeality and fails to serve an objective purpose in the visual and technical aspect. Additionally, the combat system doesn't suit the genre, and the new redesigns are unable to convey with authenticity and professionalism the legacy of a video game that changed the paradigm in the industry for those of us who experienced it more than 20 years ago. This Silent Hill is simply a lamentable way of bringing its legacy to life in our days; this new mediocre product does not do it justice!
