      Skidder Kev my buddy has been doing a bunch of small 20-50 acre jobs. Small jobs but big wood. But it’s sometimes tough because he’s got a 640 grapple. And in certain situations I think to myself “ man skidder Kev’s skid steers would be awful handy right now” !!!! I only fell for him when my body lets me (medical stuff) but looking into a woodlot now that’s AMAZING!! 2 foot+ rock maple ash and oak. It’s about 80 acres. If he gets it I’ll definitely try to make some felling videos. Probably get laughed at by guys like buckin because I bore cut lol.

    • @SkidderKev
      @SkidderKev  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That 640 is handy for those long skids on those 50acre jobs tho! Well hope you can get some videos!! We have totally different timber then those guys out west so don't worry about them. Bore cutting is a great method here.

    • @retiredwelder
      @retiredwelder 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Skidder Kev I don’t think they cut much rock maple
      Or oak in -20 degree weather lol. If they did and didn’t bore cut they would be loosing a lot of money in butt logs lol!!! What part of Canada are you from?? I’m wondering because I don’t or haven’t yet seen any ash disease??

    • @SkidderKev
      @SkidderKev  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes we are believe in them but I would go with a 95. 65 is a pretty small machine for logging. I get you are getting in to def and more money but having that power is nice. Kubota has its corks. Like a rattly cab and door

    Sweeeeet! Some hand cutting footage! What size bar ya got on the 572? How are the dead Ash holding up in your area? Any of em getting pretty doty yet especially in the tops? Be careful around em and have a great weekend! Some nice fish there also. They come from the lake at the cabin or another honey hole?😯

    • @SkidderKev

      We run a 24" bar on it. I really like the 572.

    • @waynetharp
      @waynetharp 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@SkidderKev The power is sure different on the 572s. I think it would take a little bit to get use to after using the 372 forever. Do they make a Canadian version that have hand warmers and coffee maker like your other saw did??? Congrats on those nice fish, Kev!👍

    • @SkidderKev
      @SkidderKev  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ya i feel the 372 has more bottom end. The 572 likes its rpms and you could probably tell that in the video. I really like how the 572 feels in the hands tho. Rear handle and trigger is alot nice. And way better in fuel too.

    Hi, I watched a few of your videos and I was wondering how the heck you can put a feller buncher on a skid steer, and not be able to hold the tree without nose diving and eaton steering wheel for breakfast? Seems vary dangerous to me. I'm new to your channel. I'm used to all bucket truck work. I work for a municipality. Vary seldom do we fell trees in the street because of wires. I have takin down 100s of trees in my 30 years working there. Lots of back breaking work. I'm enjoying all your videos. THANKS! I wish we could have used a feller buncher. We have a brush bandit chipper.🤓🍔🍟🍕Don't watch my channel, it sucks!

    • @SkidderKev
      @SkidderKev  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi James, welcome to my channel! Ya it can be tippy but you just have to cut and push any of the bigger trees. The smaller ones it can cut, pick and place. The head weights 2300 and the kubota can lift over 4000. We are looking into another option too so we will see how it all plays out.
