As a fellow gx460 owner, i fully support this build! At4w's are amazing tires (10k miles so far)! I look forward to see what you do with the rear door, I've still kept it empty as i don't know what to do. I have my Iceco Apl55 fridge slide on my driver side as my alternator charger is on the driver side. I have one through Ecoflow and has been reliable so far. It is rated for 800w but i set at 500w for longevity as i have solar panels as well. And yes, running thick wires through the firewall was a pain in the a$$. I can say the FSR Evo v2 Standard tent is awesome & well-insulated, only downside is it is really thick sitting on the roof rack as to place bedding and pillows inside. Other options include lightweight Inspired Overland RTT. As far as the paint goes, I'd love to see raptor liner on it but it may be more personal preference. Been following your content for a while now, great work!
I have a 2023 Tacoma with a Sherpa rack. Best rack out there IMO. As far as my roof it is a pain to clean and dry with the rack so I am thinking of just spraying it with plasti Dip (sating black) to protect it. If I have to spot repair or peel and reapply every few years it will be worth it. The satin black should match the Sherpa rack perfectly. I also plan to Plasti Dip a portion of my hood in black as well to match the roof instead of putting a decal on it. My son and I plastic dipped portions of his prior car and it was still looking good after 5 years when he sold it.
The racks just look so dang good! Plus, they are STOUT! I totally forgot about plasti dip. I used it in the past and it does hold up pretty well. Easy to peel the areas also. That might actually be the move. Sand the roof, tape it off, then spray it.
Also: A couple of questions: Tires: You went with the Falken Wildpeak AT4W. Would you recommend them? (can’t remember what is on your Tacoma). Asking because I want to either use those or BFG K03 on my 4Runner. Inverter: Do you have to worry about or upgrade the alternator to be able to handle the trucks needs and charging the Power Station? Power Station: Bluetti. The one to get or does it matter as long as I get that one or an Anker or the new Jackery. Thinking about getting a 1000W size one. Start with a heated pad like the Ignik Flipside, someday get a fridge.
Thanks for the questions Chris! 1) Went with the wild peaks because I had a great experience with the AT3Ws on the Tacoma. Just recently though I upgraded the Tacoma tires from the Wildpeak RTs to the Toyo Open Country ATIIIs. Will be excited to see how they perform this winter. 2) Per Blueeti, no on worrying about the alternator. If you were worried, you could always lower the voltage if needed. 3) I would recommend anything above 500wh. The 768wh is good but with Black Friday coming up, you could likely get a 1000-1500w for the price of the 768wh. Take what you think you might need for power and double it. Never hurts to have more juice, but it always hurts when you don't have enough. When the heating pads are in the sleeping bag, they also use a lot less energy.
Such a great vehicle! Believe me I know. I went with an alternator charger as well, different brand but the simplicity is amazing. I'll look out for you as I'm local. Really enjoying your content, keep it up!
It's a blast to drive! I do wish the alternator chargers were out when I decided to a full lithium setup in the rear. It's simple and you can always take the powerstation out whenever. I know there was work arounds that people were doing. I feel like I have seen you around - are you in Kalispell or Whitefish?
Looking forward to the build and how you use it to camp. As far as the paint issue, I would consider full re-paint or a full wrap. But I’m spending your money 😂.
Really looking forward to this build, great video as always

Was in Whitefish several months ago but now in Kalispell. I’m always up for a trip so hmu whenever. The GX hasn’t had much use lately!
@@ronvanderpol2648 Do you have a tent and stuff on the top? We get out camping as a group pretty frequently here.
I did but just took everything off. Can easily sleep inside and my dogs are too heavy to lift up there!

Thanks Chris!
Yea the paint issue is one that I will have to decide on whats best for sure. Quite a few options out there...
You mean I don’t have to drive down from Alaska to camp now? 😂😂😂
Nope. Fly right in lol
