Hi Hair Buddha! This was the very first video I ever posted to YT! Thanks for critiquing my technique, it IS super strange. Kinda like me, apparently.🤣

The end result is not terrible, in fact better than what a hairdresser did for me many years ago.
I knew a woman who had quite a noticeable, black moustache. She told anyone who would listen that waxing was bad and only bleach should be used. I didn’t have the heart to tell her that bleaching just resulted in a ginger moustache.
I had a veery thin mustache as a teen and I did bleach it and it looked fine. It became super blonde and it wasn't noticeable.
But later I think it became darker, so I started just snipping it with tiny cuticle scissors 🤷🏻♀️ all the way to the root and you can totally get rid of them that way. If anyone hates waxing or shaving it they could give it a go lol

As a young teen I used to bleach my mustache with this stuff and I can confirm it turns ginger 😂

The bleach the woman used is for bleaching the upperlip area for women. Usually not for the eyebrows 😁 love watching your channel
This is one of the better hacks I’ve seen if you want a quick root highlight touch up. I do think the knife makes it too stripey. I’d go with a brush.
You definitely don't want to use metal with bleach.

I was always told in chemistry not to mix metal with bleach 😳
I'm wondering when that changed
It has not changed. The Peroxyde in the bleach will corrode the metal.
If it's used as a bowl, it raises the bleaching power risking to cause damages.
But it's with iron that it reacts, it was an issue when lots of kitchen items contained it, as well as lead.
So now with a stainless steel knife it's not really an issue, peroxyde is 🤷♀️😊

Jolene is a bleach for facial hair. It works well for that, but you don't really know what level the developer is- probably low so it won't irritate skin. It will dry out very fast compared to head hair lightener, though, and it would not work well for very dark roots. This lady has light hair naturally, and she likes that 90s striped look, so maybe the Jolene works only if you fit these requirements.
Edit: I get the feeling that this woman is trolling with a masterful deadpan delivery.
Some questions: Wouldn't the metal knife be bad to use with a bleach product? The instructions for lighteners always say NOT to use metal utensils. Also, she showed us that she does have all of these other, more appropriate, supplies on hand. Are they there as mere props so she can toss them behind her shoulder for dramatic effect? Seems like a waste!
That’s the first thing I thought - it’s for facial hair! And there’s a reason the application tool is plastic.
Is she trolling? Her hair looks pretty patchy below the regrowth. I feel mean but... it looks kind of bad already.

@Pumibel I think she meant she visited London a while back, and maybe it was like 20 years or so, and maybe she didn't really know where they best place to go was, a pharmacy here in the UK don't always have many products for hair, just a few box dyes or something so maybe it was year's ago, or she just went to the wrong shop x

She couldn't find ordinary hair bleach in London?!! I'm in Wales and can get it in the corner pharmacy, I'm sorry but where the hell was she looking??
I think it was a fairly long time ago before pharmacy stocked items like now so she maybe didn't realise x
I think she just went to a pharmacy and expected it to be like those 'drug stores' in America, maybe? 🤔 She then also didn't bother checking any other type of stores or even go to a supermarket because it was.. 'gloomy'? 😕 With this kind of logic maybe we shouldn't be surprised that she uses the knife on her hair? 😂🤣😅
@Rhiannon that's what I thought I have lived in the UK all my life, if it was a few years ago then they didn't sell anything like she needed, that's more likely specialist shops or supermarkets, or online so ....fun to watch though x 😊
It is a product that is available in the US for bleaching facial hair.

I can't believe that she couldn't find hair bleach in London! I'm British n even the smallest of villages here have chemist shops carrying hair bleach 😳🤡

I've done that with the Jolene bleach. I do just the very front regrowth and use a small brush and it brightens up my face until I go in for regular highlights. It always goes straight to blond instead of orange.
I recall in the uk where I live not being allowed to highlight my hair or colour it I remember using sun in it is a product that uses the sun it was is a cheap spray that as a mixed POC in the 90s thought I would get the results on the bottle lol nope I looked like tony the tiger. And I remember my mum letting me bleach my peach fuzz and this was my first introduction to hair bleaching it looked awful but I was a rebel in my head and thought it looked awsome just two dangley hair strands at the front i would heat a spoon up and curl and the Christian Dior hair mascara I am really showing my age lol . Thank u for the chemo content wonderful distraction.

I'd be terrified to USE that product she's in love with just because of the name.. because they also make the most famous Hair Remover formula.

we use to buy this in the 70’s for our facial hair and some girls used to put this product on their arms if they were a brunette
i remember beeing 15 and dying my eyebrows with this smelly product and having to walk to school with bright orange eyebrows !!!!!

Me too. I’ve always used a plastic butter knife. I think it can work really well as long as the hair you are lightening is pretty light already.

If ur not a hairdresser it's really not so bad, I don't think ppl would look as hard as I do. Now depending on the lighting ur in, it might make that show really bad 😂 I've had my fair share of mess ups w/ my hair as I was learning to do it, like I once tried to do foils on myself, yeah, that's a mess 😂 once you get to, well anywhere, it's just way too hard! If ur a beginner n want really nice highlights, I recommend the cap highlights. I know everyone is iffy on those n I was too but I use them myself now when I don't have the $to pay for full highlights (my hair is way too long) n it's way easier than trying to just paint them on wherever or trying to do foils on your own head. I thought it would be patchy bc ur just pulling hair out but as long as u brush it out n make sure there's no knots AND make sure there's TONER in the box, if it doesn't come with toner, get a different brand. There's a cap highlighting kit at Kroger (or Walmart) that comes with toner n everything u need, u just pull the hair out (takes a long time n is the hardest part, get help if u can) make sure each strand is brushed out then paint the bleach on, take the cap off n wash it out (or leave it on n wash whichever u prefer) then put the toner on it (follow the directions) n it turns out really great, like I would let someone walk out of my salon using that kit.

Jolen is for facial hair, well it is here in the UK and not for head hair. That’s why HB hasn’t heard of it.
Edit; HB knows now bc she said what it’s for but why not use a small make up brush instead of a knife?
Its also most likely a small container because its for facial hair, some women have dark whiskers and bleach them. Just thought that would be more common than eyebrows.
I know it's a facial bleach but I absolutely adore her insistence that it's so so SOO different from regular bleach because the powder is less finely milled lol yeah okay tell yourself whatever you need to lady your hair looks patchy 😊
This brand of facial bleach has been around for years.my mom used it in the 50’s. It was used to bleach your upper lip and cheeks if needed.

I have to agree. The butter knife is just absolutely baffling to me. If it works for her, cool. But. I don't see that "method" working for most others. You use just a little too much pressure and you get a big blob instead of a nice line. She HAD a coloring brush, why didn't she use it?!

Jolen is sold in Canada, possibly the States 🇺🇲. Its face bleach meant for women with really dark facial hair. 😒🙄🤦♀️

If I did this, I would use a small 1/8 in. or 1/4 in. paint brush. You would be able to control the amount of bleach you apply and can give it a more natural look.
Book heroines are going to do that with the same knife they used to cut their hair and it will somehow look gorgeous

That's what I thought - this kit has to be for facial hair, like you have a little bit of a mustashe, but you don't want to wax it, you can just bleach it.
Jolen is an old school product designed for dark body hair, ie upper lip/facial hair. I've never seen anyone use it for highlights!!!!

Jolen creme bleach is made for eyebrows, mustache, etc.... that's why the size is so small.
I usually agree with your videos but I’ve used a plastic butter knife many times with cream hair bleach from Sally’s and it works really well to blend grays when you don’t have time to go to the salon. People have complemented me on my hair when I’ve done this and are always surprised when I tell them what I did!
