Since the screen on my samsung galaxy J3 isn't usable, I did end up getting my grandmother's Samsung galaxy s9 and I think that for sure the Samsung Galaxy S models are way the heck better than the Samsung J models!
even the modern A models that replaced the J series are so, so much better. the upcoming A74 is supposed to be super duper fast. meanwhile the samsung galaxy j3 is slower than an iphone 4s.
