Feldmesser 78 - Glock Rifle Bayonet for Steyr AUG

  • Did you know that the Glock logo has changed over the years? Not only that, but the hidden receptacle in the handle and the so-called "bottle opener" on the guard has an additional purpose for the Austrian Army soldier.
    As of right now I haven't located a barrel adapter for the Glock 78 / 81 but I'll keep my eyes open for one!
    Anyone with actual military experience with the Glock combat knife please share what you know by leaving a comment on this video. Thank you.
    Jeder, der eigentliche militärische Erfahrung mit der Glock Kampfmesser bitte was Sie indem Sie einen Kommentar zu diesem Video kennen. Danke.

    The "bottle opener" is actually for attaching the "K-Gerät" (blank fire adapter) to the barrel of the AUG. It hooks into the side of the adapter and the blunt side of the knife fits into the front groove. This way you can screw in the adapter tightly. It is a tool for the AUG.

      @wiegl8596 ปีที่แล้ว

      We used to do that either with the blade or the back of the knife, I can't quite remember but I've never seen someone using the hook for that.

    As far as your doubts whether this is an Austrian army genuine knife, let me pressure you are 100% correct.The B /H markings on the blade stand for 'Bundesheer', which are army proof markings.

    Nice knife.
    This is a original military version. You see it on the sign on the blade, the circle with the triangle in it. This is the national emblem from the austrian military.

    • @Kullioking
      @Kullioking 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The triangle in the Survival prepper is pointing up and dont touches the circle, in the Bundesheer emblem it points down and touches the circle.

    It's an original knife from our army! The stamping BH with the triangle in the circle means that it was property of the Bundesheer (Austrian army).

      Weiß du eigentlich was das Dreieck im Kreis bedeutet, ich rätsel da nachwievor und bekomme keine Auskunft darüber. Ich denke es könnten die 3 Staatsgewalten damit gemeint sein und der Kreis umgibt diese und schützt sie. Klingt das möglich ?

      Ich hab leider auch nicht mehr herausgefunden als, dass es von 1936-1938 und 1955-heute das Hoheitszeichen des Bundesheers war/ist.
      Verwendet wird es von Luftstreitkräften, Marine und Bodenstreitkräften. Vielleicht symbolisiert es die drei Verbände die zusammen das Dreieck also Österreich schützen.

    I am a NCO in the Austrian Army Reserve, the Bundesheer. I serve since 1988. The stamping BH with the circle and triangle between is a the proof, that this knife was army-issued. Those knives sell normally a little bit higher than commercial ones. The Tip of the knife isn´t sturdy, so it sometimes breaks. In the Army, those knives are regrinded and after that procedure about half of an inch shorter.

    Great find! I picked up an early Glock Austrian army pistol belt some time ago which has the same round logo as your knife. I think it dates to the late 70's. I've been meaning to add a Glock knife to my collection for years anyway - time to add it to the Christmas list.

    That is really cool, with the history and all. I think you have better access sometimes to these things being from the great white north. Can you get the Glock conversion to carbine kits that require a tax stamp here? Attaching the knife to one of those would take it full circle.

    Is there a groove in the hollow handle? I believe the bayonet lug attached with a little ball bearing.

    • @theKGB65
      @theKGB65  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The knives that I removed the plugs from don't have a groove in the metal tube. The knife featured in this video still has the plastic plug inserted and I don't want to remove it. The plug is fitted very tightly and, from past experience, any attempts at removing it will stretch and deform the lip where it meets the handle. I wonder if the ball bearing you're referring to would somehow detent into one of the two holes that pass through the metal tube.

    • @jdeleur5713
      @jdeleur5713 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@theKGB65 That could also be the case. Groove would mean that the knife isn’t securely fitted. If the bearings fit in the holes is would be fitted sturdy. Only seen photos and a blueprint of the adapter unfortunatly.

    The B+ symbol+ H Is the acceptance mark of the Bundesheer (Austrian Army). You will see the triangle in a circle on Austrian air force planes etc. The knife you have is the 2nd Pattern FM 78. The first pattern has a 'swept back' guard. Check-out the Forums. The Germans and Russians know everything! I got three from Austria ( Glockland ) € 14.90 each!
