Granted I didn’t fully grasp or understand the magnitude of the situation but it was just unfathomable to think someone could do something so awful to a child. I’m glad I found the episode

People when you see suspicious people in your backyard or neighborhood regardless if they call themselves police, get license plate and state. Especially now with cell phones. Take a snapshot. Maybe even video the person. That man was watching and waiting for that little girl to be alone. After the first encounter, the mom should of called the police department to confirm and been aware of any parked cars near her home. They never said if suspect lived in neighborhood or what his past charges or convictions were.
Really like the series of vignettes they use here on a lot of the series as a whole. Sometimes a single case for 45 min can be a little heavy. Nice to have a bit of diversity in the change of pace and nature of the cases.

Sadly that word probably comes from an era when deeper reading was a lot more of a popular thing to do in society lol. In literature it very much was a thing to write a vignette or sometimes a series of them would be put in a volume of sorts. I suppose it still is a thing still in a way just...maybe we call it "twitterizing?" I have no idea lol.

And why the girl’s parents allowed it and didn’t intervene. Once police determined that there was blood in apartment that was obviously cleaned up, why they didn’t start questioning the roommate and her boyfriend sooner. They claim Cordell was making passes at the girl but then it seems suspicious they wanted to break into his computer. Too bad the family and school didn’t report him missing sooner. The nerve the 3 had to kill Cordell with the cleaver, clean off and then return to store. Very disturbing. If Cordell was making passes at girl, she should have moved out, not commit murder. Or call police. I feel like there is more to this story that Cordell will never be able to defend himself. Too bad he didn’t tell someone the troubles with his roommate so they could be his voice. At any rate, his kids lost their dad and his grandparents, a grandson. They don’t mention his parents or siblings. They never said if the teenagers were still attending high school or if they were dropouts or how the young girl paid her rent.
When the guy who kidnapped Jackie said he was an undercover police, that was a major red flag! An undercover police will NEVER tell you that they’re an undercover police. That guy was not a real undercover police. His name wasn’t in the police department’s personnel files! Jackie’s mother should have kept a better eye on Jackie. She’s partly to blame here too.

I think you are overly harsh with the mother. Those of us who have lived in areas where crime, especially violet crimes are common would have seen the red flags flying high and even most kids would have been suspicious. I used to live in a northern suburb of Detroit and yeah would have known better as a kid even but I have also lived in areas where violent crime is pretty much unknown and people in those places aren't used to having to be so cautious. The narrative even said "it was a safe area". The mother and definitely the children wouldn't know that his actions were all wrong for a police officer. Also the child was in her own backyard in broad daylight. How many parents watch their children every moment of the day?
@@Tlyna1952 Sorry but I grew up in a very safe neighborhood but my mother knew crime could happen anywhere and that there's always a first time. She constantly went over protocol for if we were approached by a stranger. Any stranger. And my brother and i developed a sixth sense about when we could possibly be in danger. My mother's antenna was always turned on and she would have called the police station to make sure the guy was on the up and up. If not, she would have had the police department out taking a report and a description until he could be picked up. Until he was apprehended we wouldn't have been out of her sight. It doesn't matter if you're in a low crime area, a high crime area, a small town or a large city, people are the same and human nature and human behavior are the same. You can never let your guard down.
Crimes that are just as bad or worse happen in other countries, with little or no police action and consequences. We just don't hear about it that often.

She was sentenced to 15 years for testifying against crystal and Ron, but she only served 12
she got 25 to life. sentence to begin at age 18
