Hi Chris Great video and so pleased to see the 817 out and about again. The Elecraft radios are very good but there is something about the 817 that makes it a classic. 73s Stephen
Not purposely but I've neglected my Yaesu FT817ND since I got an Elecraft KX2. Your right, there is something special about the 817 and it became available in the year 2000. I doubt that there will ever be a transceiver as popular. I still get a buzz out of making contacts with it. 73 Chris M0RSF
Thanks John, it started to get a little wild in places but I didn’t mind that. I got through it. 40m was in good shape, my signal reports were almost all 59. Good to see you. 73 Chris M0RSF
To be honest I wasn't sure what to expect for this activation but 40m was playing nicely as the pile up that I had shows. I was using the 817 for this activation running 5W to a linked dipole antenna. You will be seeing more of the 817 soon. 73 Chris M0RSF
Another great video Chris 👍 sorry I missed you mate but well done on your first UKBOTA activationb😊, look forward to hopefully seeing you and Natalie when your back up here in God's country in September 😊😊
Hello Bill, shame that we couldn't have a QSO on this occasion but there will be other times. I was surprised at he pile up I had for this activation. UKBOTA is certainly popular and I will be doing more activations. Natalie and I are looking forward to visiting your part of the world again soon. 73 Chris M0RSF
Hi Chris You think you have a guilty conscience? I have in my QRP collection, Elecraft K2, McHF SDR, Xiegu X5105, Xiegu X6100 SDR, Ailunce HS2 SDR, and Icom IC-705… and for the last two months I’ve only been using my Kenwood TS2000X. Even worse😮 I still haven’t dusted off my trusty Marconi Z35F straight key😢 DE G0NIG (Nidge).
Usual competent display Chris - well done mate. 73
Cheers Rob, I do enjoy running a good pile up. 73 Chris M0RSF

Very good skill dealing with the pile-up Chris. Thank you for the add. 73's John G6MHR/m

What a pile up! Well handled as always. Pleased to get in your log.

Thanks for the QSO Kevin. I find that HF pile ups can be rather wild and nowhere near as the much more well behaved VHF lot.

Good to see you tonight
Good to see you too Adam. It was a nice evening.

I didn't just neglect, I sold on....I think Yaesu has neglected the rig totally
Maybe there will be a replacement one day? Speak soon mate, 73 Chris M0RSF
Now then Chris, how’s things ?
Ow do Adam, all is well thanks and hope all is well with you too. 73 Chris M0RSF
@@M0RSF I was worried, I thought you’d sold the KX2 and bought a half dozen spare FT817s, M0CKQ.
I thought you were away to tell us you had sold the 817 😂
I would rather sell my vital organs 😂🤣😂 Propagation has been up and down and I wasn’t sure what to expect but glad I made the effort.

@@M0RSF Well said 👏🏽
