Hi Brenda. Excelent tutorial. I keep pointing out the paused and clear way that you explain things. It's very enjoyable to hear and understand. I feel that I could listen to it one more hour and never get bored or tired.
This is a wonderful video. Thank you so much! I am about to attempt a very important burn on a very expensive project and I have put it off for so long because I am terrified to mess up on such an expensive piece. This gives me a little more confidence that I can take care of an issue if it pops up. Thank you.
Hi Beth, Just about anything can be fixed. What I highly recommend is burn lightly or pale colored at first. As you feel more comfortable and confident, you can slowly darken up the image as needed. If something needs to be fixed, it is so much easier to fix light colored burn marks. Thanks for the comment
Thanks Brenda for All your videos and info! I'd like to add since I haven't seen this info anywhere...that after erasing, whether with an Exacto knife, sandpaper or eraser to use a medium soft brush often to get the debris out of the way to really see your results. I found it stops me from over doing it.
Thanks! Hopefully it's just my voice that reminds you of the iconic Bob Ross and not my looks. :) Thanks again for the wonderful comment. Happy New Year!
@@PyrographyMadeEasy Oh no!! Lol. You’re gorgeous!! But you have that absolutely zen like calmness and your voice is so lovely!!!! You, like Bob, are Peace personified! 👍🏼❤️👍🏼
I was joking with you, but you are sweet. I've had several people tell me that I remind them of Bob. There are definitely worst things in the world! Have a great rest of the week
This is fascinating Brenda. It was surprising how much contrast you could bring back using just an ink eraser. For me, pyrography looks great because of the slight imperfections in the wood but here I think that you're minimising imperfections, such as seams, that are too distracting. It all seems like a balancing act. Great video Brenda, I really enjoyed this :)
Hi David, I tend to get a big obsessed...ok, neurotic about some things line grain lines. I'm trying to be better about accepting the characteristics of the wood as part of the "art," but that is a tough one for me. I want it to look like it was done on paper. :)
@@PyrographyMadeEasy Embrace the wood grain. That's what gives pyrography its great look. I'd be exactly the same though and get obsessed trying to hide the grain... :)
Hi Dennis, Have you picked your next Game of Thrones subject to draw? Thanks. I always say there is a lot of crossover in art. My ways to fix and lighten were things I learned during my airbrushing days. What I learned came in handy for pyrography. :)
Thanks for sharing your tips, I learned a lot! I look forward to looking at your website as well to see what else I can learn :D You do amazing work btw!
You are most welcome. I'm glad the video was helpful. Thank you for the wonderful compliment and taking the time to watch and comment on my video. Have a great week!
Great video Brenda. I found it really informative and helpful, and perfect timing. I need to lighten an area on a project I'm working on and was using a Mono Eraser to little effect but this video has given me some very handy and useful tips to solve the problem. Thanks and good stuff 👍😊
Hi Pete, I'm psychic and I knew this would be the perfect video for you at this moment in time. :) Ok, on a serious note, I am glad the video proved helpful. Have a wonderful day and hope your project turns out fantastically! Brenda
@@PyrographyMadeEasy I'll let you know how I get on. I'll do a 'before' and 'after' photo and try to post them. Can you pick up the signals I'm sending about the next problem I'm going to have? 😂 Good stuff Brenda and thanks again.
Hi Lloyd, thank you. Either ebay or amazon. A pen lasts me quit sometime, so that's why I don't remember where I bought it. I do believe that they can be found in automotive stores too.
Just remember it's not messing up, it's learning by experience. One of the biggest mistakes or things I had to learn was to turn the heat setting down on my unit and take my time to build up the depth and "color" of the artwork. Burning hot gets faster results, but it's not as forgiving and you don't tend to get as much tonal variation. Hope you enjoy the art of pyrography!
When scraping with a blade , would a curved scalpel blade be better to avoid using the tip With the straight sharp tip ? Btw you have the sweetest , soothing voice . 😍
Hi Bill, A curved scalpel would work wonderfully. I keep meaning to add one to my pile of assorted scrapers, but I always forget when I'm at the craft store. Thank you for the question, wonderful comment, and nice compliment. Sweet and soothing is much nicer than being told I sound like Bob Ross, but at least no one has told me I look like him. :)
Amazing tips and advice contained withing this video Brenda :) I have just thought of a question for you, how deep does the actual burn go into the wood ? is it just a surface burn ? Your skills are out of this world i must say.. i really enjoyed watching this video from you ( Q O P )
Dino King! How the heck are you? I use a very light pressure when burning, so mine are mostly surface burns. On occasion is use a knife tip, as I call it, that has a very narrow edge and it tends to sink down into the wood. When using that tip I might end up with a 1/8" (0.32 cm) deep line.
Brilliant video. Very detailed and well paced.
Thank you very much for watching and taking the time to leave such a nice comment!
