Grazing in the Rye Field

The homestead cows are out on the rye field the Mark planted last fall. Rye makes a great cover crop for grazing fields because, while it is an annual, it won't winter kill. It continues to grow into the fall and starts back up in the spring, going to seed over the summer. It makes for great season extension for grazing on a homestead farm!
