  • In Part 13 of Pasture Project’s video series on adaptive grazing, we focus on the soil temperature benefits of adaptive grazing. Adaptive grazing has a cooling effect on the soil which promotes plant growth, protects microbial communities, and creates a more comfortable environment for cattle. Thanks to Dr. Allen Williams (Pasture Project & Grass Fed Insights, LLC) and Judy Freeman (Woods Fork Cattle Company) for their contributions to this video.

I got a lot of flack from one of my son's when we switched over to rotational grazing (he wanted to us to do it like pawpaw did). But one day in the middle of August he was walking next to me barefoot through the stand of grass before we let the cattle in. He looked at me and suddenly said "my feet are cold" I said "are they wet too?" He said "yes" I said "when was the last time it rained/" He said "over two weeks ago...huh...I get it now". Still a little proud about that moment.
