What's impressive is the grip strength of it able to stick on the exists face after severing the arm and made exia put a little effort to pulling it off
this is one of my favourite variants of one of my favourite Zaku-analogues. the Graze and Tieren make for excellent grunts and also a lot of variety in versions

I really like the Tieren's melee weapon. It's similar to the Klingon Batleth if you removed the unnecessary segmentation on the handle and blunted the blade edges considerably. For a mecha like this it works with the aerodynamic profile it's attempting to pull off, and it's functionally ambidextrous - as in the left or right arm could equally have drawn and used it - which for a machine wouldn't be an issue. It has the feel of a modern combat knife, in that it's by no means the expected method of fighting but it's still there and functional enough.
Haven't watched 00 yet, but I do like the figurative nod they gave to the grunt suit here. It's taller and seems to be considerably strong, and while the Gundam has better performance it seems a pilot with good nerves can easily hold off a Gundam for a while.
I love the robot design of this series. Early on, the government had very "practical" looking mechs. While the gundams we're full on "super robot" style. It really sold the power difference, and made it believable how a military organization consisting of a less than a dozen members could take on the entire world government. The the government starts to catch up technology wise and that brings even more interesting circumstances. Honestly such an underrated Gundam show, it had great writing while properly sticking to the moral themes of the original Gundam
It mixed themes from Wing and and UC pretty well. Also it stands out as the one Gundam timeline that ended on an unambiguously positive note with humanity starting to expand beyond the solar system.
It's not like being up in the air was safer, the Exia could have literally ran circles around the Tieren while in the air and the wrist cannon can't do anything to the particle Gundam's. Going for melee was literally the only option Sergei had if he wanted to fight Exia and even than Exia almost got it's head crushed because Setsuna underestimated his enemy.
Is there a chance you could post more videos showing the Tieren-series mobile suit and its many variant models? My personal favourite was the scenes showing the standard MSJ-06II-A ground model in combat against the Anf (I think it was set in the Sri Lanka civil war?), plus the scenes showing Loyalist Anfs battle Rebel Anfs as well. Both models really remind me of Battletech and they really give the most plausible looks to the Real Robot tropes within Gundam 00.

Colonel Smirnov wanted to know if Celestial Being was serious with their mission on "Eradicating War", that's why he faced the Exia up front discarded his Rifle/Cannon to test him via melee combat. The fact that Setsuna straight out beat him in melee + did not finish him off shows he passed the colonel's little test.
I always feel its bizzare for a Tieren just slap wings at its back and add couple of (small) propulsions and it can fly. Its not aerodynamic, those wing can't generate enough force to lift, and I don't think those added (small) thrusters csn take you very far. But then again, in this world you have a form of nuclear fusion that can generate almost infinity energy and flight to take you anywhere.
I like how the tieren is somewhat bigger than the exia as when you think about it it’s generator is probably far bigger than the gn drive and it would need more space to function.

Okay design is cool, weapons are cool, the movement and the scene itself is cool, but is NO ONE gonna talk about the fact that if the Exia didn't have the sabers readied or let's say the Tieren pilot pulled a Yakuza 0 and forced the Exia up to a wall or into some rubble, Setsuna would have been in some real trouble?
Well the exia was design for melee combat foremost meaning majority of it weapons and usually most gundam have beam saber in general and even some who aren't have beams swords as well that aren't melee focused. I also think the exia could withstand a suicide attack from this suit, maybe with some damage, but overall fine.

The second the Tieren grabbed Axia's face, the tables would have probably turned, the sabor basically saved it's ass, lose the saber and that thing wouldn't have ever gotten out of that head clamp, if the pilot was really thinking all he had to do was accomplish one movement and he would have slammed it but that's not registering, as seen in this clip, the blade didn't cut it.
I like the build series for the reason skill wins mostly, but these stories need a somewhat level playing field. I want the quote bad guys to beat the the quote good guys to pulp more that the typical 2% of the time.
I don't know other than the g arcane the 00 gundam timeline has some poor grunt suits... If they're not stick thin, they're too big to be called high mobility type. Well until they used gnx and stuff ngl they're good in the movie to show that they're still capable and their variants even with default loadouts but just like a zakus they need upgrades to be even holding the line. They did justice on the union flags tho which is a great comeback

If there is a lore that said he can't break the cockpit FOR SURE, or grab the Gundam head and pinch the body on the ground (ie will also pinch one of it arm), then I will probably leave instead of exposing my cockpit for stabbing. But I have seen plenty of BS like this I feel disappointed with their approach.
@@IshmaelDoe The Gundams are just super advanced compared to all the other MS around the nation at this point. Better armor, more power, way faster, all of that. In general, MS throwing punches at each other isn't too effective, and that would be even moreso the case here with how fast and strong the Exia is. The guy piloting the Tieren was pretty much prepared to die just on the chance they could learn more about the Gundam's capabilities so they can inevitably form a counter force.
Seed is okay overall. Seed Destiny (second season) ranges between "pretty good, actually" and "what the actual fuck were they thinking?", usually multiple times within the same episode. It's...a ride. This, however, is from 00, which is pretty solid overall. Second season gets a bit weird by mixing the plots of Wing and Zeta but manages to stick the landing in the end. And the movie is weird, but the good kind of weird IMO.

しかし無駄には終わらず、後に腰部の翼を排除し、下腿部のスラスターを強化した高機動型が量産されるに至った（ティエレン・タオツーの原型になり、第二期にも登場している）

For the 3rd gen gundams, the GN drives were literally the entirety of the chest block. They didn't get smaller until the 4th gen.

@@IshmaelDoe All he has left is one arm with nothing in his hand, he's not going to be able to just wipe out a cockpit, especially a Gundam's, which they already know are super advanced compared to all of their mobile suits. He didn't fight Exia expecting to win.
@@ultimateblade4127 TBH I didn't watch 00 as I am too old for unrealistic thing like this. If there is a lore that said he can't break the cockpit FOR SURE, or grab the Gundam head and pinch the body on the ground (ie will also pinch one of it arm), then I will probably leave instead of exposing my cockpit for stabbing.
But I have seen plenty of BS like this I feel disappointed with their approach.
@@IshmaelDoe The Gundams are just super advanced compared to all the other MS around the nation at this point. Better armor, more power, way faster, all of that. In general, MS throwing punches at each other isn't too effective, and that would be even moreso the case here with how fast and strong the Exia is. The guy piloting the Tieren was pretty much prepared to die just on the chance they could learn more about the Gundam's capabilities so they can inevitably form a counter force.

Is Seed worth watching at all?
Yesn't.
Seed is okay overall. Seed Destiny (second season) ranges between "pretty good, actually" and "what the actual fuck were they thinking?", usually multiple times within the same episode. It's...a ride.
This, however, is from 00, which is pretty solid overall. Second season gets a bit weird by mixing the plots of Wing and Zeta but manages to stick the landing in the end. And the movie is weird, but the good kind of weird IMO.
