Notes from the talk: • The 4 inner equipment, The Antahkarana, is in me but I'm not in them • It's essential to cleanse and purify the Antahkarana because without this, progress isn't possible, especially spiritual progress. • When ever we say "I AM", it's always with reference to something. That's the source of identity. • Only with reference to something, does the 'I' sustain. • How many identities do we need to say "I Am". "I am a man, a woman" etc, comes from the division of gender. I am from Chennai, comes from the division of land. • If identification can break, then meditation becomes easy • Every identification is a potential agent of generating thoughts. • Every identity comes from a division perceived in the mind. Mind like to divide things, so every division generates identity. • Every division the mind perceives generates an identity, and every identity generates thoughts. • In the transactional world, identities are necessary but they aren't me and should never become me, it's only an object of my awareness. • Leave all identities behind when we enter into the presence of the Lord. • With these identities, how does one expect to meditate effectively? • A pure mind is one with less thoughts • If memory is dropped, then ego is less week. • Doer-ship is a lie. It's only a mere claim that's completely invalid upon deeper analysis. • How to practice dropping identities ○ See the identities as objects other than me. "It's not me who's anxious but my mind". ○ Don't dwell over the past and future, drop it! Plan, strategize and after that stop and execute. Worrying is a waste of time. ○ Develop clarity so that the intellect isn't confused. A confused intellect will be mislead and won't take wise decisions. As much as mental purification is important, intellectual purification is too. ○ Commit to nobility and do that WITHOUT anxiety. Nobility will not generate agitation, so turn the mind towards it. • Everything is a play of 5 elements, why identity with it? • Be aware! When you're aware of something, the object of my awareness is different from me. • So far, nothing what we've discussed above is new, yet, why are we not able to do it? Possible reasons are: ○ You tried, failed, got overwhelmed and quit ○ Something else appeared to me more important ○ All this is because Moksha isn't the goal of life.
When I was a small girl Sami Chinmayananda visited my town Ooty and conducted classes on Bhajagovindam .Gita etc at that time once he taught us meditation since then I am doing meditation .The moment we understand we are not the body but the ultimate consciousness ,life changes totally and a contentment comes with in and we are not after worldly attractions like others .Thank you swamiji.Hari hi om
