Some lovely models there!! So sad that lovely Typhoon came to grief!! Very difficult wind conditions to overcome on take offs/landings. But that Tiger Moth looping and spinning stole the show!! Gorgeous stuff!! 👍

Dont know if your doing anything this year on our Flying Spectacular show dates July 9th 10th which does not clash with any other dates (we hope). You could always bring a tent as you know it still goes on after the flying stops!

Ouch !. That landing causing the wing to break, did not look like a hard landing. Must have been some under laying or pre condition to fail.

+tbobborap1 Oh man, that's got to be a heartbreaker for Jason! Funny you mention the back! It's been really good but still lots of numbness in my right foot and especially toes but I take that, but yesterday I was getting rid a a saltwater aquarium and put too much live rock and sand into a tote and tweeted it a bit picking up. Nothing to bad and just my normal back thing, real tender getting up or sitting down and walk hunched over a bit, hopefully be better in a couple days! How are you Pete? Cheers mate!

Great machines ! Yet I have to say that RC pilots are of a "hit an miss" quality - more often than not ;-)
Adrian, I totally agree. Something else I dont get and detracts from realism in scale models, is the speed they fly at. Some of these WW2 aircraft just weren't capable of the speeds depicted.

I think they don't use fpv for a reason. Would you risk your 3000€+ Plane just to have "an experience"? Imagine the camera fails?

De Havilland built the DH82B radio controlled target aircraft which could be flown manually They built 141 in 1935.
More fun building them than flying.

I should have never started watching these blasted videos cause now I'm hooked and wanting the get me a RC Plane. Now I just have to figure out what type is easiest to learn to fly with.

Rick, go to testflite.com. These are foam, you can buy a kit but I found it,easy to build with foam board from the dollar store. Complete,plans and kits available on web site. Good luck!
Get an RC flight sim first ! It's cost will pay back as soon as you avoid crashing your first real RC plane !! ;-)
I started with AeroFly RC and I'm still using it for practice. Then I bought a trainer plane - Kyosho Calmato 40 was great for me, not sure if they sell it anymore. Don't get tempted into having a warbird or an aerobatic plane as your first, that only guarantees frustration and a lot of crashes. - or just one crash but totaling the plane ;-)
a Lightening fighter was the first jet - read up on it some years back.

hey Deno,ur pops does an outstanding job with the videos.....one more thing when ur flying what is ur ratio gas to oil? was wondering because most of the models don't have the cowls with big holes in them how do they stay cool. thx a lot glenn
+1976axerhand thanks axer, not sure exactly what these lads are running on each model but it varies from 50:1 (weak oil mix) to 30:1 (rich oil mix)

How about mounting an RC in a real Piper Cub? A 747?
If they are going to build models that big, they might as well go the next step and build a real 'plane and fly in it.
If any of these guys were on the Flight Of The Pheonix plane he would have gotten a little more support.

these are amazing toys, though i dont think people with no training should be flying them , just my opinion
you right on one thing paul you do need training as it really helps but your wrong that they are toys because they are classed as models - look it up in the dictionary,

are the engines tiny gasoline ones? Reminds me of a motorbike type.
For the most part, the smaller ones burn alcohol, and the larger ones (like the ones in this video) burn actual gasoline. More and more though, they are moving to electric.

Ahh... Now I remember why I quit building model aircrafts.. (well, aside the fact that puberty kicked in) ...it's not the building or the flying that got me, it was the landing that always turned out to be... dissapointing.
Well that's probably good because if you did not have the reflexes,depth perception,and skill to fly as a pre pubescent then you'd probably be just wasting your money and time at this point in your life.

But I guess you're right, these things are best to be found out on an early age, when you don't have the means to pour in a lot of money before reality comes knocking.

Note to self: If I shoot video at a flying meet, bring a shotgun mic with a wind filter so motors in the the pits don't drown out audio of the planes that are flying and people won't think the wind noise is the sound of the jets. Also, don't put up a thumbnail of a spectacular plane if I have no footage of it.

no - more people get killed every day falling down the stairs or driving their cars so i wouldnt worry about it weed

@@funsweed6067 the last death from an rc model in the uk i think was from a young girl struck in the back of the head by an acrowot around about 15 yrs ago - so its a relatively safe hobby but things do wrong ocassionaly but no fatalities in yrs thank god

ive been flying rc models since 1983 and have never seen a chopped finger ever ! ive seen one accident of a cut finger but it doesn't happen if you use common sense mick

I don't mean, chopped right off your hand, but some prop hits on the fingers can hurt like crazy, especially on larger engines. In my model flying years since the early 70s, flying models rigged by wire and going in circle to larger planes with size 60cc and early radio controls, I have been struck 4 times until the electric starters arrived. You can use all the common sense you want but some props are certainly finger magnets, one mistake and whack!
fair comment mick, ive prob only ever seen 4 or 5 prop strikes in 35yrs - none drew blood but prob hurt, ive onl ever clipped the side of my finger once but didnt hurt - like i say its down to common sense

I agree with you there, but rules are there for the safety of everyone but I know what you mean, also there will the few club members that you never get along with or the few dangerous flyers that always get away with it, but the knowledge you will gain from being around like minded people will enable you to progress in leaps and bounds and get more enjoyment out of this hobby - pete,
