Great video! I've had a Redfoot Tortoise who was raised with dogs. Upside: He is smart, friendly, pretty and social. Downside is mainly his age. We have had him since he was a hatchling and that was 34 years ago. My kids have left and I'm in my 70's. He's in my will. He also has his own room and lets us know when he wants to come out and play by banging against the door to his room. This Christmas he will push the tree around if we let him. But he is, by a long shot, the best reptile I have ever owned.
He sounds like a fun little guy. I'm glad to see he has brought you joy and laughter. I'm sure that Christmas tree will be getting relocated all season.
This video had me chuckling throughout and truly laugh at the red-headed comment 😂. What would a Kenyan Sand Boa be? A side hustle project? They prefer to not cuddle, not dangerous, absolutely adorable if it's ever out of the substrate but that's a rare occurrence...
A Kenyan sand boa would need a new category. I have no idea how to classify them according to the categories I have set up here. Bit of an awkward one, I would just refer to them as a box of sand.
Really enjoying your videos. I got my first snake a month ago (eastern indigo) and I think my next will be either some lizard (monitor?) or another snake like a FWC.
Mindless entertainment would be some sort of gecko or hognose snake.Other common snakes could also fit,as would a praying mantas or tailless whip scorpion. These could also fit in the extreamely non threatening catagory, but there are people out there who would pee their pants if they got close to one of these.
Gotta wonder where Hognoses would fall. I used to have one many years ago who never did anything to hurt me. He hissed at me once because I gave him a jump scare but aside from that, nothing and he never as much as attempted to bite me. Now I have two, the easily handlable is easier to just get to bite me and then I can move her and then she lets go and then I can just sit with her for however long I want, no problem. The other one hates me so much he hisses when I go past his enclosure. When I pick him up he hisses at me for the first about 2 minutes before he calms tf. down and just deals with it.
I have 1 crested gecko but for some reason he has gotten really bad with handling. If anyone has any advice on what I can do to get him more handleable, please tell me in replies. Thank you❤
How do you handle him? You have to be mindful of the fact that you may very well look like a predator to your crestie. Avoid sudden movements and loud noises, stay calm and consistent, and possibly bride him with some treats. He needs to learn that you mean him no harm.
It might be a personality thing, or maybe it's just a phase he's going through. My advice would be to set up a regular handling schedule, don't hesitate when picking him up, try not to teach him that you flinch and give up when he reacts like that, and then just take your time and be patient. Do that for a month, then re-assess. Keep us posted.
My display type of reptiles: two tarantulas, the cuddle type of reptiles: two pembroke welsh corgis, and the entertainment type of reptiles: a crestie and a hognose. Perfectly balanced... As all things should be.
Wannabee's need another name, they are the best you can have. (this made me feel slightly offended and because i'm a big snowflake i need to inform you about that :D ).
I apologize. Look at the bright side, though. If you're a snowflake, then there's none else like you. You are one of a kind. You're a wannabe but a unique one. Spice up your life.
Considering that I'm a redhead and a Scorpio, is it strange that I absolutely adore monitors and alligators? I AM getting an ackie eventually, but that's just me using my intercranial pink patty to be slightly reasonable. If I could, I'd like to one day keep the big boys.
8:51 my corn snake didn’t get the memo that it wasn’t a side hustle reptile and was supposed to be a chill dude lmao
haha, show him this video.

Dam, starting off in the big leagues. An Eastern Indigo is a great choice!

The deadly Hognose! Nooooooo!

You have used the categories correctly. 19 respect points earned.

Extroverts suck😂😂
Dogs suck, way too much care involved. Cats are easier.
Yes but cats are born killers, they can't be trusted.
@ yes they can be trained and trusted
