Oh my heart is breaking for Merlin. I was already crying tonight because I'd found out my Uncle Eddie died today. When I see this baby with his little dark face & sunken in cheeks and the saddest eyes I've ever seen! My Lord what has he been put or gone through? I will be lifting you all up in my prayers tonight and I hope poor Merlin makes it to another day. Blessings to all of you that are providing love and care to these creatures. Lori
This video really brought tears to my eyes because I could see the pain in Merlins eyes and see how bad he had been traumatized(and more in by a human),and very bad malnourished...I just don't understand why these poor babies get so tortured... innocent babies.Hopefully he will gain trust in your wonderful workers and I'm sure he will 😊😊😊

Thank God he somehow made his way to the caring and nurturing Vervet Forest. I know you guys will do everything you can for him and I’ll be thinking good thoughts for all of you. I'm so glad I found your place on utube and so thoroughly enjoyed watching these videos,I love these monkeys . If i were younger I would be a volunteer. Please continue sharing your adventures with the videos. I so wish they made good pets, I'd have a couple. Don't worry, I understand why they dont make good pets and would never consider it.
I have seen a lot of sad, abused baby monkeys of many different species but I have never seen that severely sad and unbelievable amount of psychological pain so evident on one's face...I am just shocked!
It's mind blowing isn't it? Really makes you wonder what sort of hell the poor guy had to endure before he arrived with us. So much obvious trauma, one can only imagine the abuse he suffered.
OMG. So sad about Merlin. I am just so surprised that people there can look into their eyes & inflict such cruelty upon them. I can't come now, but someday I hope I can get there to help.
Went back check some old videos. It is strange to me that Merlin had such a dark facial complexion being so young, most at this age still have a pink face. Wonder if he was born that way or this is just some sort of symptom of being so sick.

And my baby boy Groot 😍😍 gets knocked down but keeps going, such a little love. I find it interesting that he is much lighter in color then most of the other babies, will his fur get a little darker as he gets older? As always, much love and respect for what you do, can’t wait to join you guys and help out with these amazing animals.

I know you have stated that you use soy for their milk. Could Groot be having an allergic reaction to the soy? I know of people who have that same issue with soy milk and once changed the diarrhea stopped. Keep up with the epic work.
It's unlikely considering the diarrhea stopped even though we continued to give him soy milk. Also now that he is out in the troop he is still consuming soy milk and he does not have diarrhea.
Oh poor Merlin. Take good care of the little darlin'. I have a question about his not having any teeth on the lower jaw. Were they deliberately pulled? People do that here in the States to monkeys to keep them from biting. It's terribly abusive. When you mentioned that he doesn't have any teeth on the lower jaw I had to think of that. Is it possible that someone had the mother monkey in captivity, and was starving them? Is that why the little guy is so thin? Maybe he was born that way right from the womb. I would love to hear any backstory you have on him.
Linda Taylor I would love to hear the backstory on him too. 😕 I feel exactly the same way, it’s really hard to say. The people who brought him to us said they found him all alone in the bush. Now this is a very possible scenario, he may have been abandoned or become separated from his troop, and as a baby in need of milk he may have become so malnourished that his teeth just did not grow in. His teeth have grown in now. The other option is something far more sinister occurred, such as the scenario you are describing. But it’s impossible for us to know the truth because we were not there and people will say anything to cover their own asses. 🤷♂️ it’s a shame, but at least he’s doing amazing now! ☺️
